Hi Since some expressed their interest in a Star Trek RP I'm just posting a thread for this here, note that I search not only for players but also for some sort of a co-GM, since I'm in university I can't dedicate enough time to run a full blown RP with a medium to large playerbase alone. If you want to PM me.

As for the RP itself: It will probably be set around Stardate 9000 (aka somewhere in the late 23rd to early 24th century) somewhere between the events of the original series and The Next Generation, though this is only the 1st idea, if you have any other ideas just share them here.

Players will have the option to either come in here as a captain with a ship or be hired by another player for his ship when they don't want to be captain (not enough time etc.). The focus of the RP will be somewhat in between Player interactions and (if my time permits so) a larger storyline.

Sp far to keep things simple I think that most players sould belong to either the Federation or the Klingon Empire.

So I guess if you have any ideas just write them here.

Nah not really. A general understanding of the terms would be nice so I don't have to exlpain to everyone what for example phasers and stuff are but even without it would be fully acceptable.

I still don't really have the time to help GM, but I am somewhat knowledgeable about Star Trek so I can help out with those who have questions.

Just bear with me that 1: I haven't really dug into the lore beyond just watching the shows, 2: it's been a while since I've actually watched Star Trek, and 3: I've seen the original series, TNG, and DS9, but only some of Voyager and none of Enterprise; and for the movies I've seen the Wrath of Khan and one of the TNG ones whose title currently escapes me.

That said, any of the general stuff I can probably answer.

[up] thats perfectly serviceable. TBH my knowledge of the lore doesn't really go that much further. I thought about my canon thing again and think that I'm probably going mostly with the alternate timeline, only thing I want to keep is that I do think players should not name their space-ships after famous canon ships like 'Enterprise', 'Voyager' or 'Defiant'.

OK, so for a 2332 RP there doesn't seem to be all that much in the way of ship classes to choose from.

  • Ambassador - Supplemental fluff put its in service year as 2325
  • Excelsior
  • Miranda - Probably the most common and apparently still the backbone of Starfleet right through the Dominion War
  • Centaur - Maybe. Supplemental materials disagree on its in-service date, with some claiming it to be 2280s and others saying it's a Dominion War era kitbash.
  • Constellation
  • Constitution - Unclear. The ending of STVI seems to imply the class was decommissioned in the 2290s but somehow the hull of one showed up in the Wolf 359 debris field in one shot.
  • Oberth - Depends how sciency people want to get.

Kay, I guess we could set the whole thing around the events of Voyager (aka roughly 1 century later) that should give plenty of classes to choose from.

Also mind you that I don't really want all players to be from the Federation, some should be from the Klingon Empire, the Romluan Empire or the Vulcan Empire aswell. Makes for a higher variety of player interactions (possible fights too).

I could be wrong, but wouldn't "during Voyager" be right around the time of the Dominion War, given when DS9 and Voyager happen relative to each other? That'd be putting the Federation, Klingons, Romulans, and Vulcans all as currently allies. (Though some more strenuous as allies than others.)

Well according to Memory Alpha the Dominion war ended 2375 and Voyager started 2371, so depending on how long they actually were in the Delta Quadrant the Dominion war should be over by the time they returned. So if the start date would be around 2390 that should be no problem. Otherwise since we're seeming to go with AU now, how about setting this in 2350 without the Dominion war?

Sorry, I wasn't trying to nitpick when I made the comment. >.<

It's also a sign that the calculator I used doesn't work right, since it flagged 9000 as January 1st 2332 when canon puts 9000 somewhere between The Final Frontier and The Undiscovered Country.

Okay I guess we are not using Stardates for the Rest of the RP I have searched for a calculator and one explained just how Stardates are calculated, and that is a real mess. And I don't mind nitpicking, especially not this I mean there really were nearly no shipclasses to choose from (though I had used the Miranda class anyway)
