I'm guessing the last 5 episodes are going:
Gold Saucer, Dyne, Cosmo Canyon, Nibelheim for the last two
Which basically means the rest of Disc 1 is season three. Which bums me out a bit because the whole "dates at Gold Saucer" scenes comes after Nibel.

Burning love!Anyone else notice everyone in Barret's hometown spoke exactly like Barret?
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Well, they all came from the same place, it's not unreasonable they all spoke the same language.
Probably because he doesn't like Barret very much, and thus is unmoved by his tragic backstory.

Cloud craves the validation of his stolen identity that can only come from being recognized and acknowledged by Sephiroth. This is not mutually exclusive with the fact that he and Barret completely hate each other.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Well when Cloud was doing his backstory dump Barret was busy reciting every Bahamut in existence.
We're still waiting for the mythical Bahamut Hearts III.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireAlso, I'm in love with the fact that Cloud is so sensitive/defensive about the Buster Sword being called a "giant hunk of metal on a stick" that he completely blows his attempt at flirting because of it.
Considering who he got the sword from (even if he doesn't remember it) I'm not shocked.
You know, I'm really hoping they don't botch the reveal about Cloud (like having Sephiroth still treat him as a joke even after losing to him or something like that).
Because it's important to remember that Cloud killed the strongest man in the world back when he was a nobody. That's a real accomplishment. He won through nothing more than being mad enough against a dude that whole armies fell against, and I'd hate for them to throw that out just to shit on cloud for the sake of humour.
One Strip! One Strip! It wasn't just anger. The SOLDIER mako infusion kicked in as a result of his anger.
-wiki search-
Or... not? I guess Crisis Core made it so that he was infused with mako and injected with Jenova Cells as a result of Nibelheim.

Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireCloud: "You see, someone in SOLDIER isn't simply exposed to Mako energy. Their bodies are actually injected with Jenova cells...... For better or for worse, only the strong can enter SOLDIER. It has nothing to do with the Jenova Reunion." But weak people...... like me, get lost in the whole thing."
I never heard CC contradicted this. Cloud underwent the SOLDIER creation but failed to control the Jenova Cells. You have to have a really strong will to overwrite Jenova's influence, which is why the Black-Caped people exist. They were just randos from Nibelheim and are no match for the will of an alien monstrosity.
So Cloud wasn't exactly "normal" when he overpowered Sephiroth but he was still a flea. Sephiroth had just destroyed a 1st Class SOLDIER and Cloud wasn't even able to get into SOLDIER a tall due to his weak will. Yet at that moment, when he was impaled by Sephiroth, he had a strong enough will to overpower the strongest human being alive and toss him to his death. That's why that scene is so amazing and heroic and one of the best parts of FFVII. The music was even timed right to make it perfect.
It was afterward that he became catatonic and a puppet because he just wasn't equipped to handle all the mad science done to him.
Cloud: "The combination of Jenova cells, Sephiroth's strong will, and my own weaknesses are what created me."
Well, the wiki is wrong then. It says he failed to get into the SOLDIER program and wasn't treated until Hojo captured him and Zack after Nibelheim. I figured it was just my own faulty memory or a retcon.

Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireActually, the wiki might be right. There are like, no joke, at least 3 FFVII guidebooks elaborating on stuff so it's always confusing, you never know what fact might be tucked away where. Looking up the original Ultimania Omega though. I think Cloud was simply passed over altogether for the SOLDIER experiment. After all, once the Jenova Cells were in you, that would be it. Cloud would have been a controllable puppet from the moment he failed to get into SOLDIER.
So the only logic is that there was maybe some simple examination or screening process that Cloud failed and thus never underwent the SOLDIER creation process at all. That is until after Nibelheim and we saw what that all ended up doing to him.
Of course Cloud was still superhuman in CC and in FFVII he says he's "physically built like somebody in SOLDIER." So...bleh.
See you guys in a decade when the remake comes out and this is all explained.

Oh yeah. I almost forgot that was happening.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireCloud was just a random mook during the Nibelheim incident. It wasn't until after Sephiroth burned everything down that he got injected with Jenova cells, as part of being experimented on. They were trying to figure out if they could replace Sephiroth (who was injected with Jenova cells prenatally) by just injecting people with a metric shitton of Jenova cells, since Sephiroth was dead. (Turns out that the answer was "no, but you can create barely-sapient Jenova-controlled zombie-puppets".)
It seems like Cloud just caught Sephiroth off guard and stabbed the shit out of him (original scene here). It wasn't enough to kill him, but when he shows up a few minutes later (here), he's visibly staggering, and he's weak enough that Cloud is able to throw him into the mako pit. (Though how Cloud is able to force his feet back to the ground despite being stabbed through the torso and lifted into the air, I still have no idea. Sephiroth seems plenty surprised by that too.)
So tldr, it's Gameplay and Story Segregation where even the strongest man on the planet can be shanked half to death by a lowly mook, if the mook gets a lucky shot in.

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien. His limit meter must have been full.
edited 27th Nov '17 1:38:46 AM by Zeromaeus
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireI mean, he had just been impaled so...yeah, full Limit Break meter might explain it.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.And that was how the "SOLDIER X" series of moves were born.
Not because they were done by a SOLDIER, but because they were done against a SOLDIER.

I wonder if the remake is going to stick Genesis into the story's inner workings.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaire
Not just impaled.....impaled with a sword the size of a tree trunk.
Its actually a miracle that Sephiroth wasn't bisected...
I beleve they were talking about Cloud being impaled. They both get the crap stabbed out of them there.
EDIT: And here I am confused again. I just watched the Last Order scene to make sure they both get stabbed. In it, after Cloud pulls himself foraward and knocks Sephiroth away, he has green glowy eyes. Except that's supposed to be a sign of mako infusion. So was he infused with mako before or after Nibelheim? Did he get a double dose? Gargh.
edited 28th Nov '17 5:08:55 AM by Zeromaeus
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireLast Order had Sephiroth jumping down willingly, which is very much non-canon. It's not a particularly accurate OVA.
but HOW?Glowy blue eyes note is said to be a side effect of mako infusion, and therefore a sign of being in SOLDIER. But it's actually a side effect of Jenova cells, which is what really makes SOLDIER so powerful. As far as I know, mako infusion isn't an actual thing.
But in any case, Cloud definitely shouldn't have it until being subjected to experiments after the Nibelheim incident and Sephiroth's death.

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.
Its the same as in the game really. The Fridge Horror and actual horror comes later.
