A lot of articles here contain You Tube links, and a lot of those have gone to dead links, either due to a copyright claim or an account deletion.

What needs doing is an eventual sweep of all dead links and relinking to videos that work in situations in which it's known what the link's source is supposed to be.

I've been relinking to working videos when I see a dead link, or removing the link if I can't find a secondary source, but I'm talking about upwards of ten or more instances on a single page.

The underlying problem is that many tropers keep ignoring that Weblinks Are Not Examples. Literal Music Video is a particularly bad case.

So should I keep fixing them where I find them, or is there another option available?

I could just leave them, but it feels lazy of me to do so when I know it's there.

Please keep fixing them. I don't know of any fix other than manual correction, unfortunately.

Maybe you could nudge a couple of others to sweep around like I am?

Did I mention there were a lot of broken links?

Without a way of tracking such links we can't make a sweep.

Fan Vid is full of links to dead videos. It comes with making AMVs. Many links probably date back five, even ten years. Either the uploader deleted their account, was banned for copyright issues, or the video was deleted. Heck, even the original "Skittles" upload on Youtube was deleted ages ago.
