"I'll try," Malware said. Knowing that they needed to shut the turrets down as soon as possible, Malware hacked into them directly, trying to shut them down.

"think that's the first time....anyone's ever called me... that. heh."

Vespa grinned through the pain.

"Just got to ride it through."

She grabbed the small necklace that she was wearing, and upon finding the pendant attached, absentmindedly played with it as she waited.

The building shook as Ignis broke another hole in it. Something snapped just as he passed through the wall, and a large beam and several chunks of drywall fell to block the passage he just made. He could hear the frustration in the voice of one of the guards who had been chasing him.

"Dammit! Gabriel, go around, meet him from the chapel! We'll hit from the other side."

"Negative, Gabriel is down. I'll do it."

Bell's shots chased the guards inside, but she couldn't get more than another glancing hit off of armor before they were out of her view. The mine-resistant vehicle had pulled off from Liam's tail, however, and was now bearing down on her window with its forklike-arm outstretched.

Malware uploaded dummy IFF data into the simple targeting AI of the truck's turret, and now had full control, giving Liam and Mr. Chun some relief. The driver angrily jabbed at his turret's control panel to try to reset it, but quickly gave up and pulled a machine pistol to fire at them impotently through his window. The huge cargo vehicle was relentlessly chugging on after them both.

While Malware found the three remaining military vehicles' drive controls weren't linked to the net, the now-driverless dump truck out in the field was, and had only minor security in place to prevent anyone from remotely taking it over.

Driving
"It's going after the van, we can't let them get taken out!" Forlorn said as he steered the truck towards the mine-removing vehicle. He doubted he could destroy without killing himself in the process if he rammed it directly, instead choosing to adopt the strategy of trying to 'gently' nudge it out of the way with massive military truck he was driving.

They're trying to take out the van?!?

As Mal tried to figure out what to do, his attention turned to the only accessible vehicle. "Hang on!" he yelled, letting the android body go limp as he accessed the dump truck and attempted to drive it towards the attackers.

"W-What?!", Anastya peeped out as she looked around to Mal suddenly slumping. And saw the MRAP. And gassed the pedal to the metal, reversing the van with a screech.

Bai heard Forlorn's exclamation, and correctly assumed he wasn't going to be gunning for the vehicle any time soon. With what little time he had, he dropped the grenade launcher and quickly grabbed at an exposed rail. Not knowing how much of a bump was coming, he braced for impact as much as he could.

Seeing the approaching vehicle, Bell did as could and simply moved back to avoid the forklike arm, turning back and running as she can... she doesn't know how deep the truck and arm may reach so she runs towards Vespa, trying to grab her and retreat a little bit "Hope you don't it... and we may need to run a bit now!" says the knight as she moves.

Ignis snarled, he had hoped he could have just avoided any additional confrontation. Though the longer the thought on it, the more he just wanted to kill everyone trying to get the Father. It was a miracle that he was still alive with Ignis.

As much enticing as it would be to just wait for the inevitable pincer attack from the guards, Ignis decided to meet one of them at their flank. He turned to the left and headed towards those who would have come from behind.

The MRAP veered away from Bell and Vespa as they retreated back into the building, turning instead for Anastya's van. Liam's truck knocked against it, but the huge mine-resistant vehicle was nearly nine times its mass and was barely nudged. The mechanical bomb-disposal arm swung ninety degrees to bash into his windshield, destroying what little of the armored glass remained. The MRAP attempted to pull away for another strike. The remaining truck, its turret still under Malware's control, came to ride up on Liam's other side, effectively trapping him and Bai in-between the two vehicles.

The compensators in Bai's suit were more than capable of holding him steady while the trucks were knocking around. From where it now lay, he noticed the grenade launcher seemed to be carrying a specialized load.

Malware had broken into the dump truck's drive controls easily; construction-yard level security from five years ago was child's play for one of his skill. The dirty yellow behemoth came back to life, carrying the messy remains of its driver back to the compound seemingly of its own accord.

Anastya kept herself and Malware's inanimate body from harm's way; the MRAP's speed left something to be desired, and it seemed more focused on Liam for the moment.

Ignis caught the two elite guards off-guard as he ran to confront them; they were apparently yet unaware of the hack in their communications. Their huge, AL-SEC-made shrapnel cannons, once brought to bear, would rip even the metal dragon apart at this distance. He would have to utilize the element of surprise effectively.

Ignis let out a low, rumbling roar as he encountered the two guards. He made sure that they could see that he still held the Father in grip.

As Ignis stood there, he utilized the last set of weapons that had yet to be displayed: directed microwaves. They sat within the front of his torso and could literally boil his attackers.

"Bail out, Chun!" Forlorn grunted, and jumped out of his seat and onto the hood of the truck. Then he leapt towards the MRAP's hood, attempting a repeat of his glass-breaking fist trick from earlier.

Letting the MARV stay and steer clear, Anastya continued to slam the pedal to reverse, looking at the sideview mirror to make sure that they are clear.

He had enough time to grab the grenade launcher and force himself out of the top hatch. Awkwardly doing a one-handed vault, Bai landed with a grunt on his broken arm. The shock absorbers in the suit were mostly reactionary, and though they stopped further injury the landing wasn't a painless one.

His suit's strength had no issue pushing itself up with one hand, and Bai wasted no time in aiming the grenade launcher's business end at the end of the MRAP furthest away from Liam's break-in attempt. He pulled the trigger, and sent one round flying.

This time, Liam's fist didn't penetrate. A spiderweb of white covered the six-inch-thick glass as his robotic hand crashed against the MRAP's windshield, deflecting to fly off somewhere to the side and dragging along the ground. The mechanical arm of the armored vehicle swung at the truck Liam had just ditched, its first segment hitting him in the back as it did so and knocking him against the same windshield.

Liam was jolted a second time as the vehicle was rocked with an explosion. The grenade fired from Bai's launcher must have had a shaped charge, as the thing actually seemed to penetrate the hulking MRAP. The back doors blew off and smoke billowed from the empty compartment, yet the vehicle was incredibly still moving.

The other truck peeled away as its driver must have realized both of them had abandoned the one it was trapping, allowing Liam's truck to push off the MRAP and fall behind. The turret was still dormant from Malware's attack, but the other truck was now headed straight for Bai, giving him a bad sense of deja vu.

Ignis's microwave beams were invisible to the naked eye, but twin streaks of white would show up on thermals between his torso-mounted projectors and the two elites. One suffered an experience similar to that of a hardboiled egg as his helmet visor was struck with a full blast, and he fell with a scream.

The other guard had raised his gun just as the saurian fired, taking a maser beam right down the barrel. The shrapnel cannon's ordnance exploded, tearing the man in two at the waist and sending his torso back down the hall, entrails streaming behind. The eponymous shrapnel went everywhere, including into Ignis, though the undirected nature of the blast softened the projectiles considerably. His armor took the worst of it, though he could feel a sharp pain in several of his joints where the ablative plates separated, and his energy stores had been taxed significantly by the bifold microwave blast.

Vespa wondered what the hell was going on. She understood well enough what the situation was, but the grenade, Bell's assistance, the noise, smoke, and general chaos, all of it made it incredibly hard for her to focus, but at least she knew she wouldn't be falling asleep anytime soon; the pain from the grenade and Bell's help made it impossible to think about that at the second.

I mean, hell, i could be dead.

"Hang on, we're going for higher ground, away from the reach of scary vehicles driving right at us" says Bell as she tries to take Vespa to a safer sniping position, possibly upstairs where she entered the building.

Vespa couldn't help but laugh (well, more like "hack affectionatley") as she was escorted upstairs.

"Come on, it's not the vehicles that worry me. I'm more.....concerned about Gojira down there. 'Collateral damage' mean anything to you?"

Forlorn grunted as he was pressed against the windshield, then felt the explosion while he reeled back his hand. If he couldn't punch his way through the glass, he'd simply have to render the vehicle inoperable through unconventional means. He jumped up to the gunner's hatch, and tried to punch his way through the metal. These old trucks were meant to resist mines on the bottom, but the gunner's hatch would hopefully prove less resistant.

In this instance, Bai decided that his earlier tactic hadn't gone as planned and decided that taking out things sensibly far from himself was the best option. He aimed and launched another shot at the oncoming vehicle's front end. The charge had done quite the job to the more heavily armored vehicle, and Bai felt that this one could take out the oncoming truck in one blow if it found its mark.

Liam found the top hatch slightly more pliable than the window, as after a few bionically-assisted hits the locking mechanism broke and it came ajar. From there he could see there was apparently nobody else in the vehicle other than the driver, who seemed to be desperately reaching for a weapon.

Bai's second shot connected with the truck's grille, detonating the engine block. The front two wheels shot out to the sides and the hood leapt from the top as the blast tore the vehicle apart. The whole thing veered sideways before flipping over and skidding to a halt before Bai.

Ignis charged towards the guard who's helmet had been hit and scooped him up into powerful mechanical jaws. Reptilian predatory instincts took over, not that Ignis could eat even the man as is, the limp body just dangled at the middle and clamped by sharp teeth.

Then the draconic cyborg turned around, thrusters igniting to help propel the creature and meet the guard who had still not been dealt with. Ignis was unaware that the other had already been sniped. He even seemed unaware that he had just been shot. The rush of adrenaline and the stimulant injections built inside his chassis should hopefully keep him at peak performance for just a little longer.

Seeing the driver reaching for a weapon, Forlorn reacted by reaching for his pistol and firing a trio of shots at the soldier as he rushed to the driver's seat.
