I snuck in to see The Man from UNCLE the same day I saw Mission Impossible: Rouge Nation. In IMAX, I should add. Yeah, I don't care what the general consensus is for The Man from UNCLE, but I loved it. Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer have great moments and the score sounded like something out of Cowboy Bebop. In fact, if this guy or even this guy talk smack about it, I will be sorely disappointed in them both.
So might this mean that Armie Hammer can finally recover from The Lone Ranger?
One Strip! One Strip!Well, I kinda don't see what the fuss is about regarding that. I saw like the first few minutes of "Lone Ranger" and I was like "Hey, this is something I'd want to see more of."
Haven't finished it though...probably should.
Hammer is pretty good in this one, he's not the most versatile or even particularly talented of actors in all honesty but he plays the comically serious role and Cavill gets to be the witty/sarcastic quippy type which plays to both their strengths. He does get a few good lines in fairness, and is very good at the action stuff he gets to do.
I wouldn't call it career resurrection just yet, this isn't going to restore him to leading man status but it should prove he can do a more supporting/secondary role pretty well.

Not that its a complaint mind you ^^
"You can reply to this Message!"I quite enjoyed it. I also enjoyed The Lone Ranger.... I find there are relatively few action movies I'll dislike, because even if they are just some popcorn flicks... well, then I'll enjoy them for being that. Not every movie has to be Oscar worthy.
Couldn't find a pre-existing thread, if there is one please merge or lock as appropriate. Anyhow, I know this seems to have got either a shrug or a thumbs down from most critics but I enjoyed it for the most part, did seem to go on just a tad too long though. Guy Ritchie showed off his tricks and tics, perhaps an editor who could rein him in a little might help him freshen up his act would be helpful but if you like his kind of films then this will be right up your street.
I definitely recommend it but would add the caveat my opinion may just be a little skewed what with being in love with Alicia Vikander.
