I've not been satisfied with this pic for a long time...it captures the emotion of the trope, but is a poor representation. Actually, I'm not exactly sure how this could ever be adequately pic'd.

It's going to be hard to picture this one, yeah.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIt is a bit rough on the "War" side of things but it has "Hopeless" down pat.
Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about. As Willbyr says, the current image conveys the emotion of the trope. Personally, I'm not convinced we can do better than that. I'm open to suggestions, of course, but I'd vote that the current is better than going imageless.
Keep Until Better Image Suggested, to say something.
Check out my fanfiction! The current is not so bad that I'd vote to remove it, so I'll go with Keep Until Better Image Suggested.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"Same here, I guess.
(Annoyed grunt)I'll go with Keep Until Better Image Suggested as well.
Another vote or two for Keep Until Better Image Suggested and we can shut this down.
I vote Keep Until Better Suggested. That BFS looks broken to me which suggests that he has been through some battle before.
These two may literally be more bark than bite, but they are no less tenacious than everyone else.I agree, Keep Until Better Suggested. As other people have said, it conveys the "hopeless" part well, and I'm not sure if the "war" part even can be shown in one picture.

I'll tag the page; locking up.
I don't really see how this image represents the trope well. Yes, Warhammer 40K is a good example of this trope, but the image is just some guy with BFS standing in rain. Nothing about it alone says "Hopeless War", at least to me.
