Justice Avengers: Starry, Starry Night

"He was a very fascinating writer." The Surfer droned on. "On the first published version of his works, his contemporary called him a man of all ages. I believe that—"

But the sudden collection of sound and fury coming from the Kree ship took the Surfer's attention. '"Well now. Isn't that odd."

Jack had stayed silent when Kaine stumbled upon the new group of people. He then followed everyone to engine room of the ship to see if there was anything he could do to help. Then he evacuated with the rest of the group to the life pods.

"I can tell that this is going to be a long day." He said to himself.

Black Dwarf prepared himself to block the attack of this new, strange enemy. Not that he expected the sword to hurt his superdense body, but it had been an unusual day.

He felt no pain as the blade struck.

No physical pain, that is.

His 'scream' rang out so 'loud' it could be heard by all in the vicinity, even in the vacuum of space:

NOOOOO!

"My Master! He doesn't care about me! I'm not a faithful minion, I'm a tool! A disposable tool!!!"

And then, using the Space Gem, he vanished, his destination unknown.

"Curses, brother, you stole the chance for a battle most promising from me!" Thor snorted at Loki.

Nearby, Laira, who caught sight of the event, gave the Surfer a sarcastic smile. "Friend of yours? Looks like he just had a moment of- illumination" she said to the silver alien.

Not waiting for his response (not that she cared anyway) Laira, straining her willpower to its limits, began pulling all the Kree Ship's lifepods into hyperspace. It was a good thing their objective was not far away...

Captain Marvel watched the Black Dwarf disappear with clear confusion on his face before he floated towards Thor and Loki with a slightly-awkward wave.◊

"Hello," he greeted, "I am Captain Marvel, the Universe's Mightiest Mortal. And you must be Asa-Thor, the Thunderer." He held out his hand for Thor and smiled amicably.

Jubilee, In The Lifepods

As she fled the Kree Ship in a Life Pod, Jubilee was annoyed... She was trapped in a metal container again. She wondered what was going to happen to her when everything outside the Life Pod got coated in translucent green and the stars outside began moving far faster than they should be moving. Julibee was rather confused about what the heck was happening, but did not know what to do about it.

Space

Thor stared at the costumed stranger, a bit baffled, but then took his hand, in a good, hearty grip: "Well met, Captain Marvel. Thou dost fight like an Asgardian warrior."

"Aww man, I wanted to help" Captain Universe chimed in.

Suddenly, a voice reached them:

"Get ready, all of you, to be transported into Hyperspace. Or I'm leaving you behind."

And with that, they were pulled into Laira's force bubble as well.

Space (and the Kree ship) faded behind, and they could literally feel as they moved faster than it should physically be possible to.

"Next stop" the Green Lantern added, "Oa."

Bubble

After guiding a few straggling pods to the bubble, Halo slipped inside herself, next to Laira.

"This is so exciting," she murmured to the Green Lantern.

"Yes." The Surfer muttered in deadpan agreement. "I'm practically titillating with excitement. Or mayhaps that is just the remnants of that ship. Which was, might I add, a very exciting diversion from our main objective." He glanced over at Laira, smiling to himself. "True proof that the Guardians are the rightful protectors of this galaxy."

Hyperspace

Captain Marvel shook Thor's hand firmly before he sighed and let out a "SHAZAM!", splitting back into Phyla and Freddy. A woman with a breathing apparatus and chemical tubes attached to her face and a boy in an exoskeleton.

"Okay," Freddy muttered as he rubbed at the back of his neck, "We can't keep doing these fast changes. It's putting a strain on the Zam bands."

"Right," Phyla agreed, "We need to give it a rest for a little while."

"Odin's beard!" Thor gasped, at Marvel's sudden transformation. "And I thought I had beheld wonders before across the Nine Realms!"

"Weee!!" Captain Universe went at the sudden acceleration.

Laira ignored the Surfer but addressed Halo: "We are heading for Oa, homeworld of my masters, The Guardians" she explained. "Please behave yourself at all times."

Suddenly the bubble began to slow.

"Ah, we are here" the Green Lantern said.

Hyperspace faded back into normal space, and there, right before them, stood an arid planet, covered mostly by a huge city, a great green beacon shining over it.

"Behold: Oa"

The Bubble

"Oh, hush," Halo said to the Surfer. "We saved lives. That's not nothing. And I got this nifty axe!" She lifted the axe she had snatched from Black Dwarf. "I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. If I had a house, I'd probably hang it on the wall."

She frowned at Laira's statement. "What made you think I can't behave mysel-" She accidentally swung the ax and almost hit the Surfer. "Sorry!"

Her eyes widened as they approached the planet Oa. "Oh. Oh, Laira, it's beautiful."

The Bubble

"Incredible," Freddy whispered in awe. He'd never seen anything like it. He didn't think he'd ever have seen half the things he'd seen in the last few months if he had stayed on Earth. But this outdid them all.

"The center of the universe," Phyla murmured in shock. "I am the first Kree to ever see this." No Kree had ever been chosen to be a Green Lantern. No matter what else happened in her life, Phyla knew she would always have this. The first Kree to ever see Oa.

—Bubble—
Loki looked at the emerald city with some disinterest. Law and order centre of the universe. How dull. He much preferred the human version with the fraudulent wizard and the monkeys.

He shrugged his shoulders and stuffed his hands in his pockets. He kept the helm of the cosmic coat on for now, lest anyone see him grinding his teeth over the Black Dwarf encounter. He'd been so close. Should have figured the mad titan for thralling his servants. A speed bump but he'd work around it. Provided he could offload his brother onto these travellers for a while.

"So what's the plan for us, might I ask?" he said to Laira. "Since we were bystanders. Some of us wrested from our homes, at that."

After Taskmaster had managed to minimize panicking and made to get children priority into the escape pods and to have anyone small enough to double up if possible, the mercenary himself jumped into a lone escape pod and strapped himself in. For the most part, while relaxing, the trip to this Oa place was kind of dull. The majesty of empty space did not really interest him, as its just twinkling lights on a black background.

But then they were approaching Oa. Now that was a beautiful, especially with all the green. Wonder how much those green crystal are worth back on Earth? he idly wondered.

As the "bubble" descended, its occupants could see literally hundreds of green figures in the distance, coming and going from the city. [1]◊

Green Lanterns.

"Quiet day" Laira remarked. The others could not immediately tell if she was being sarcastic.

The bubble landed on top of a building and dissipated, releasing all its contains there. The GL could not hold back a wheeze; transporting so many people at once through hyperspace was exhausting.

Other Lanterns immediately landed next to them. "Greentings, Laira" a bird-headed one [2] said. "What is the meaning of this curious display?"

"I was chasing down one of Thanos' minions" she explained. "I found him dead, and another was captured and yet another defeated."

"Oh? This seems quite a story."

"Indeed. Which I will inform the Guardians about right now. Please escort the Silvery One to the Sciencells and watch over him while I report to our masters. Oh you might want to interrogate these Kree that I rescued from a derelict ship as well."

Tomar-Re nodded. "Rest assured, we will take care of both."

She then addressed the others:

"The rest of you can consider yourselves our... guests for the time being. You'll find anything you need in the building below. But please do not wander away. The Guardians will send word of their decisions soon."

Jubilee, Oa

Once the lifepods landed on the planet with people on it, Jubilee blew her own lifepod open with one of her fireworks and stumbled out of it onto the planet. Soon she marched towards where some of the others had gathered.

"Okay, am I the only one who does not know where the heck we are?" Jubilee said to the others, not really knowing where she is.

The Bird-Headed Green Lantern from earlier approached Jubilee (and the others) and spoke in a language that sounded more like a hawk screeching, but a more 'human' voice came out of his ring, translating everything it said:

"You're on Oa, humanoids. This is the base of operations of our masters, The Guardians, immortal beings who protect all from evil. They empower us, The Green Lantern Corps, to patrol space in their name."

"As for your question, you're quite literally in the center of the galaxy. Your homeworld, Earth, is far away- on the very edge, about 50,000 light years away. But, fear not. Those of you who were kidnapped unjustly shall be returned to your world. But I'm afraid you must wait until your turn to being interviewed about the events you were involved in comes up. You have nothing to fear- not unless you're criminals yourselves, of course."

Oa

Halo's eyes sparkled as she beheld everything on the planet.

"I'm going exploring!" she declared. "Who wants to go with me?"

Oa

"Oh my Gosh!" Freddy exclaimed excitedly as he rushed up to the hawk-like alien before Phyla could stop him. "Tomar Re! I can't believe I'm actually meeting you! You're like... one of the greatest Green Lanterns ever! I read about how you brought a nonviolent end to the Shi'ar-Thanagar conflict and how you fought off Terrax the Tamer! You're a legend! I'm Freddy Freeman! It's an honor to meet you." Phyla pushed Freddy out of the way once he'd sufficiently mortified her.

"Hey, hi, Phyla-Vell, Mar-Vell's daughter. So... what can you tell me about Laira?"

"Excuse me, Miss, but you can't wander around" Tomar-Re said to Halo. "At least not until you have been questioned by The Guardians. Please stay within this building."

The Avian Lantern, however, was taken a bit aback by the Marvels. He looked a bit- flattered.

"Mar-Vell? The great Kree hero? You're related to him?" he asked, his tone denoting respect for the name.

Oa

"Yup," Phyla declared proudly as she puffed out her chest. However, the act of inhaling to puff herself up made the Kree girl acutely aware of her medical encumberments and she cringed slightly from embarrassment. "I mean... y-yeah, that's me."

As Taskmaster followed the group, he took a moment to take in his surroundings. He was just as amazed as everyone else from Earth, though he was just far more better at hiding. Tomar assured everyone that they will all returned home after a brief interview with the Guardians themselves -

" - not unless you're criminals yourselves, of course," Tomar explained.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU.............

"So, Birdman," Taskmaster asked, wishing to go to a more pleasant topic. "What's the material of buildings made out of? Would fetch a really big price back on Earth for just a handful of it." Outwardly, the merc was calm, friendly, and conversational. Internally: %&*#$*#&(%$&*#&*(!&&%&*#$#*&^%$&*#*&($#&*(@(&!!!!!!!

"The Kree are, in general, not well respected in this galaxy" Tomar-Re explained to Phylla. "No offense. However, even we know about Mar-Vell. He not only survived a Brood incursion, he helped find a cure for their parasitic infestation! The universe owes him much."

Then, to Taskmaster: "The walls here are made of Neutronium, one of the strongest metals known. I fear, however, that you are not allowed to take a sample of it back to Earth. Your world is still classified as 'underdeveloped' by the galactic council. Technological exchange is forbidden until you develope faster-than-light travel on your own. No offense."

If it was any consolation, the Lantern spoke with no sign of having noticed anything wrong about the mercenary's disposition.

Oa

Okay, finding out that her species wasn't well-liked wasn't exactly news to Phyla. She'd just always assumed that the rest of the universe was jealous. Coming from a Green Lantern, though...

"What about my Grandfather, Zam-Vell?" she asked.

"Yeah," Freddy chimed in, "He built this exoskeleton for me so I could walk. And these!" He and Phyla eagerly held up their Zam-Bands.

Taskmaster gave a mental sigh of relief.

"Is it because their society is made up of basically a bunch of pompous, militaristic jocks with a slight racist bent to them?" the merc asked Tomar. "That's the vibe I was getting from them if their Captain was anything to go by." As he walked, he noticed two people talking to each other. One was a purple skinned lady with long purple hair, small slits for eyes, tinier slits for nostrils, but had a sexy looking figure to make up with the face, and the other.........uh........

"What the Hell is that?" Taskmaster asked, pointing to the nonhumanoid Lantern.
