Post-apocalyptic Washington D.C.?

EDIT: Link's not working directly due to a bug. Just correct "apocalyptic" to one word in the URL and it should work.

It's a little weak, as mentioned, but it's better than nothing.

Good finds, but I still think the OP looks better. It doesn't just show any collapsed city, it shows the collapsed capital, which suggests something went seriously wrong for the nation at large.

I'll admit I lol'd at Godzilla (and you're right, I hope we can use that somewhere), but it doesn't really show this trope. San Francisco Bay also looks more like a big honking monster just came crashing through. Liberty's head focuses more on specific Monumental Damage rather than showing an entire city in disarray, and National Mall looks less like less like "The US has collapsed" than "Humanity is completely extinct". The daylight shot of the OP is alright, though I personally think it looks neater in twilight. Plus, it also has the Washington Memorial in the background. Central Park could also work.

I actually personally prefer OP in daylight. Lighting illustrates the trope better than a big blob of darkness.

Since this clearly isn't advancing at this point, I went ahead and crownered this.

This one's ready to call. The new pic's up and tagged; caption or no? What came to mind was "Land of the ____, home of the slain."...can't think of what to put in the blank.

"Land of the lost"? Can't think of anything good to rhyme with "free".

"Land of the broken, home of the slain.", maybe? Ignore the "free" rhyme altogether for theme's sake...

I guess "Land of the debris" wouldn't make much sense, so I'll go with the suggestion in 19.
