[up][up]I wouldn't say that it's dying, but there's definitely less people on it than there used to be. And a good portion of those people only play levels that they know are good.

Hi guys. I got this game last week and I'm having a lot of fun with it. I have four levels up so far, and I'm working on two more. I already posted a link to my profile in the general Mario thread, but that was before I knew this game had a dedicated thread. Here you go. "Nice and Simple" was only published because I hadn't yet figured out how to play my own levels without publishing them, so it's pretty bare-bones, but the others involved a bit more effort.

I haven't managed to clear the 100 Mario Challenge on Expert yet, but admittedly I haven't tried that many times. It's a real pain skipping through the bullshit to find levels that actually seem possible, and it doesn't help that my lack of experience with Mario games means I still kinda suck at this.

Also, new rule as of last night: if you put Hammer Bros at the start of a level without giving the player a mushroom, you are an asshole. Some guy did that with two of them, and to make things worse, there was only one mushroom in the entire level. And a checkpoint eventually, but still! I beat it, but it took me forever.

I'll definitely look through the thread and play some other people's levels at some point.

EDIT: I played Roaring Aircraft. Spent about an hour and probably over a hundred lives on it before giving up. I couldn't figure out the bit with the angry Wiggler and the floating platforms, and I was just too tired of it to keep trying. Sorry, but that one's too hardcore for me.

I have still not finished my massive maze stage. I really should!

Then I have been toying with an idea of a 1-1 remix of my own, but it hasn't come along quite so well...

Oh, and I still gotta beat 100 Marios on hard and expert.

One of my brothers has this idea that starts out like one of those "run through a massive pile of enemies with a Super Star" ones, but then turns into a regular level.

I told him that he's welcome to borrow the disc if he wants, but so far he hasn't taken me up on it. Sometimes we take turns during 100 Mario runs, though.

Also I really want the Shulk costume so I can make a Xenoblade-themed level of sorts, since that game is one of my favorites, but I have yet to unlock it and I don't have his Amiibo. Guess that'll have to wait.

It's a shame the Shulk costume uses the Japanese voice lines. No feeling it. sad

Hey guys, if you really want to get in on it, there's a secret Flying-Cape route in Roaring Aircraft that bypasses most of the level (including the horrible low-down platforming ending) and could probably be used for speed runs. You can also see some parts of it in a normal run, like where there's some locked doors that are right there butyou can only really use if you have a cape. If you want to make a start on the secret route, look for a P Button...

Also, that wiggler can be killed by throwing upwards the POW box directly at him. Obviously, to avoid his ass getting you, duck intermittently at times when he reaches you and move forward when he's out of the way again, but once you get far enough he's pretty weak. And for the part with the conveyor tracks carrying foamy fallatforms, just wait for the right camera and fallatform timing, jump like crazy to the right, and you should be fine.

I won't deny that the normal route's final segment is fucking hard, though. I had to top Murmuring Caves of Sounds Series ancenstry which is below 5% on clear rate, and that third Roaring Aircraft act was not giving me a hard time. So I changed the last corridor into a claustroplatforming bit. (It used to just be a stumpy corridor full of angry wigglers that you could easily and safely bounce off of.)

Also, the original version was Roaring Speed Aircraft, a failed attempt which Millbee completely exploited by accident on his YouTube channel.

Don't worry about it. If it's a hard level, it's a hard level. I'm just too stubborn to know when I'm in over my head, which is one reason I haven't gotten through Expert yet. Although I was wondering if there was an alternate path, what with those clouds at the beginning. Glad to have confirmation on that in case I feel like trying again.

By the way, Anomalocarious, I tried a few of your levels a while back, after you linked to your profile in the main Mario thrad. How I Lost My Medical License is hilarious, but unfortunately I couldn't make it past the part with the vines. I'd like to try again, though.

Also, I finished one of the two levels I was working on. It's called A Son's Mischief. Also, have any of you tried Evil Garden? No one's starred it yet, and it hasn't gotten much attention.

Actually, the only one of my levels that's been played enough to have a difficulty rating is Nice and Simple. People probably get it in 100 Mario or something, which I guess is why it's still being played. It's so boring, though!

Eventually you'll pick up good skill. I used to be so bad at this game that I didn't even realize there was a sprint.

The vine part is pretty hard, yeah. If you tap right rapidly, though, you can cross them pretty quickly, you just need to be able to move up or down when necessary.

I'm glad you like the concept, though. No, I don't know why there's an obstacle course underneath the hospital, or why said course has vines and lava, but who cares? tongue

[up] x3 Yeah, I'm sure I'll get better eventually. Although it'd probably speed things up if I actually played a 2D Mario game or two. My brothers and I had New Super Mario Bros. for the DS at one point, but I don't know if we still do. Searching for Expert-difficulty levels to play would probably not be a bad idea either.

And I did beat How I Lost My Medical License today, and it wasn't nearly as hard as last time I tried, so maybe I am getting better.

You should try Ghost Rider or Bouncy Basement. There's a reason they're sorted into Super Expert. tongue

Oh dear god... Can somebody please beat and/or Star the Roaring Aircraft course? I know you're not supposed to ask for this kind of thing, but I heard that Nintendo deletes Mario Maker levels eventually if nobody stars them and I'm incredibly scared.

[up]Completed the level. The biggest problem with it is the jump just before the very end, with the pair of rotating platforms that fall down. It's just too demanding and there's not enough space to pull off the kind of jump required for it. I found the secret was to get hit down to small mario and make a running jump to the fire bar platform, then jump off of it. I ended up blowing through 10-15 lives on that part. The other annoying spot was the area around the first checkpoint. I wasn't sure where to go on my first time there, and there's a lot going on in a small amount of space, again making maneuvers difficult. Outside of those two areas, it was a pretty good level. It had a nice amount of variety, two checkpoints, was sufficiently challenging, and SMW airship levels are innately cool.

You got that right! Well, basically. I never encourage or require damage to be taken in my levels, but sometimes I'll screw something up to where being small helps. Unfortunately, a critical part of my Airship Sequel is such a thing. Although, you don't have to be small, it can actually work out pretty well if you just duck-jump. It looks goofy as hell, but a ducking Mario flying through the air can be pretty versatile and deadly.

I actually played through this level today on the uploaded file to put my concerns to rest, and that part with the hammer brother near the first checkpoint certainly sucked a lot. I even died several times trying to last-ditch touch it. Yeah, well, I mean, the level is annoying. It's That One Level. (For me, as well. Not just because I had to upload it, but because it took forever for me to reach a point where I could upload it.) I still think it's a way better sequel to The Murmuring Caves than the two proto-versions (including the one Millbee thrashed) ever were. Tim (older brother) sucks at this game, and even he said that Roaring Speed Aircraft was rather easy. I am proud of the flower-hatted Thwomp though. I like those guys.

Airships are cool and especially so with the newly-fabricated Mario World music. That's the part I resonate with the most. If you like those, please check out my level from right after, which is way easier and also in Super Mario World airships. It's called The Sky Wars and it's about shooting shit in a fire clown car.

Just tweak a block or two around and reupload it with a new title.

I don't think I can... A guy said somewhere that the game has measures against that. I'd have to go back in time and make a copy of the map before I uploaded it.

My awful Goat House stage is still up even though it's very old, because it has a few stars on it.

Nobody starred it because the online activity and potential for expert-clearing players is currently really low. Not even the one guy who commented on Roaring Aircraft in this thread who actually beat it.

Compare Murmuring Caves (the rather difficult 'expert' prequel) and Strongarm Castle Tower (harder than MC, probably worse than RA), which people still managed to beat back when they were uploaded in late last year. NEITHER have been deleted. Overall, none of my levels have been getting the attention they used to. I think the community is just being really ghost-y now.
