  • Name: Magik
  • Real Name: Illyana Nikolievna Rasputina
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: Unknown. Looks like late teens/young twenties.
  • Appearance: In her Eldritch armour.
  • Alignment: Good-ish
  • Personality: Having spent a great deal of her youth in the Otherworld, the realm of daemons, Magik can come across as tough, arrogant and with a bit of a dark sense of humour. However, she's in truth insecure and nervous around strangers, and puts up a tough front to keep potential dangers at a distance.

  • Powers and Abilities:
    • Teleportation: Illyana's innate mutant ability. With the power to create special disks of energy, she can transport herself and others to a completely different place by briefly stopping in the plane of daemonkind. With her sorcerous powers, she has created a safe place in the Otherworld, but she can choose to appear anywhere else in the Otherworld as well. She can teleport extreme distances without problem, but if she is going somewhere she has never been to before, she will have to spend some time in the Otherworld to scry for her destination. If there is a particular object or person where she wants to go, the scrying becomes easier.
    • Sorcery: The chosen disciple of the Daemon King of the Otherworld, Magik has a grand array of dark and forbidden magic waiting for the magic word. The greatest use of this magic is to call daemonic servants from the Otherworld to do her bidding. To do this, she needs only know their True Name. However, since she is on the run from the Otherworld, she must take some precautions. Any daemon she summons must be weak enough to bend to her command to the extent that she can forbid them to speak of where she is. She can summon and banish daemons of greater strength, but then she runs the risk of the daemon telling the Daemon King where she is afterwards.
    • Psionic shielding: While Magik is not a great telepath, learning to shield her mind was a must in the Otherworld. Through years of intensive training, with pain and humiliation being the penalty should they break, she has built up defences strong enough to keep even the strongest telepaths from reading into her mind.

  • Weapons and Equipment:
    • The Daemonbrand: The personal greatsword of the Daemon Prince of the Inferno, the near-unbreakable blade can channel blazing hot flames. Its size has been modified by Magik so she could wield it.
    • The Soulsword: Seen in her right hand in this picture. This magical sword was created from Magik's life force and represents the strength of her soul, and enhances her magical powers. With this, she can cut through magical and psychic spells and constructs.
    • Eldritch Armour: A magical suit of armour gifted to her by the King of Daemons. It protects her against physical and magical attacks, as well as grants immunity against certain viruses and sources of corruption. She can summon and dispel it at will, but in strengthening it, she starts to become liable to daemonic corruption which manifests itself in various daemonic features on her body. The more daemonic corruption she takes in, the easier it becomes for the daemons to start tracking her down.

  • Origin: Illyana is the only survivor of Research Station Baikal-04, which was doing humane research on mutant powers for the furthering understanding of these powers and how to utilize them productively for the good of the human race and the cosmos. However, the station was invaded by daemons that were lured there by the temptation of strong and pure souls to corrupt and devour. Before a distress signal could be sent out, the station was overrun and all the researchers and mutants were killed or abducted.

At that time, Illyana was but a young child, and how long she spent in captivity, she does not know. But her mind and soul were deemed optimal for learning the dark sorcery that were required for the daemons to exist for a longer period of time outside of the Otherworld. And so the Daemon King, the greatest of all masters of sorcery, took her in as his disciple and started to teach and pamper her so that she could become the daemon's agent and usher in an age of daemons.

Years passed, and Illyana became more and more susceptible to the King's words and teachings. The King trusted her with more and more power and responsibility, and her defeating the rebellious Prince of the Inferno and taking his sword was done under the King's orders. However, one day she was kidnapped by a runaway mutant from the Baikal-04, who tried to persuade Illyana from listening to the King's teachings and to escape the Otherworld with the other mutants. To help persuade Illyana, the mutant helped her realize the Soulsword and spent a long time telling Illyana of the world they had once come from. The young mutant became Illyana's first true friend.

However, the friendship was shortlived. The King tracked down where Illyana had been taken, and took her back. Illyana spent some time in house arrest, but was released to bear witness to a special ceremony. The King had rounded up all the survivors of the research station, including Illyana's friend, and had them executed right before Illyana's eyes.

The shock and despair deeply shook Illyana, and as the Daemon King stood gloating over the corpse of her friend, Illyana materialized the Soulsword and inflicted a grave wound upon the ruler of the Otherworld. With his blood, she spun a great stepping disk that transported her out of the Otherworld and into the cosmos she had been born. Thus did Illyana escape the Otherworld and come to live once again in the world that was her birthplace, but now was a complete stranger to her. And the daemons wait patiently for her to open a path for them to come after her, because they will not let their prisoner and prodigy herald escape them so easily.

@Batman: Rocket did mention about Whytemane's theory of Infinite Randomisation, which is a scientific priciple that measures the likelihood of something exactly lile it happening somewhere else in the universe (ie raccoon species evolving exactly the same on two different planets). We can easily have the concept of two Batmen from two different planets and having the near exact origin story as proof of this theory in work.

@Sijo: I've been having the pattern where I've signed up as characters seemingly inappropriate for the overall theme (Rocket in New York when better for Jump City, Wolverine vice versa, Spiral for Hub). Taskmaster is more suited for Hub, and I'm gonna sign him up in the Cosmic game. Following the pattern!

What are some roles that multiple characters share in canon? Like how there can be more than one Green Lantern at any one time.

  • Name: American Tiger/Miss America
  • Real Name: America Tigra Chavez
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 18
  • Appearance: This mixed with this
  • Alignment: Good
  • Personality: America isn't nice. She's abrasive, with a sharp tongue. She doesn't put up with a lot of BS, and she doesn't sugar coat anything. She's very opinionated and will tell you just how she feels, usually as some kind of glaring remark or snarky putdown. She doesn't care for politics, religion, or other big things like that. Her favorite plan of attack is always "punch and kick everything". She doesn't like talking about her past, and doesn't take kindly to people asking. But she may surprise you. She can have sudden small sparks of compassion and emotional connection to specific things. She gets a great thrill from fighting, and from chasing enemies. Due to her nature and her abilities, as well as her innate personality, she has to work hard to control her deep primal urges to be more bestial. When she sleeps, she often dreams of being an alien tiger and stalking prey for fun. She really likes girls, especially cute alien ones, but her flirting is so subtle that it is basically impossible to distinguish from her normal sarcastic personality.
  • Powers and Abilities: Tigra possesses tiger-like abilities to match her permanent tiger-like appearance, complete with a tail:
    • She has razor-sharp retractable claws on her hands and her feet, which are strong enough to cut through steel. They allow her to climb up many weak structures.
    • She possesses heightened senses and night vision. She is able to detect someone's mood swings merely by scent, and can see farther than a normal human with high-powered binoculars could.
    • Class-10 super-strength, allowing her to to lift up to 10 tons under normal conditions.
    • She possesses incredible cat-like agility and reflexes.
    • She is able to run on all fours up to 70 miles per hour.
    • Strong empathic skills, allowing her to immediately detect even non-visible injuries like internal bleeding or broken ribs.
    • She has a slight resistance to telepathic attacks.
    • She can communicate with felines.
    • She is very flexible, able to contort her body and squeeze into tight spaces.
    • Her most unique ability is the power to tear her claws through time and space, creating rifts to travel across the multiverse. This ability is tiring, and she can't actually choose where she goes, but she can choose to follow people or go to a dimension where she knows something is.
    • She can breathe and survive in space.
  • Weapons and Equipment: Not much, but every piece of clothing she has is star-spangled themed.
  • Origin: America was born in Los Angeles, seemingly a normal girl, raised by Hispanic parents, she always identified with her middle class upbringing. But, as she grew into a teenager, her body started to change in strange ways. She started acting more like a cat, chasing mice at school, and purring or hissing at everyone. When a student with powers attacking others at her school, her primal nature took over, and her body transformed to be like a tiger, her full tail growing and her skin and hair changing. She mindlessly attacked and killed the student, unable to control her mind. She ran off into the wilderness, away from civilization. She spent around a week acting like a tiger in the woods, before slowly coming to her senses. But her appearance stayed changed. She journeyed to discover her true nature, feeling deep within her that the people she thought were her parents were not really her parents. She eventually discovered her ability to travel the multiverse, and that was when she learned the truth through her homeworld. America is the daughter of two alien women from lost unknown races. They were the princesses of their worlds, and fell in love. In a great war between their planets that killed billions, they escaped into space. Wanting a child, they used the technology of their worlds to create a child with the shared DNA of the two women. But something went wrong, and the process would most likely fail without intervention. Their ship lost power, and they crashed on the planet of the Cat People. Seeking their help and support, they were able to perform a mystical ritual that created their daughter, giving her the soul of one of the Cat People. The two mothers left her on Earth to be raised in safety while they could return to their planets and one day bring peace. She now travels to find those lost planets, and hopefully find her mothers.
    • Because of her boisterous personality and outward appearance, she is slowly becoming more wellknown in the galaxy, and against her wishes, representing the United States for the galaxy.

Chariot: Well, let's see now. Like Sijo says, there's the Nova corps. There's also been many who've claimed the name Starman, quite a few people to call themselves the Atom, several Green Goblins if you're going for something wickeder, they're always hiring in the Shi'ar Imperial Guard, and as for Hawkman and Hawkgirl...well, at this point, anything goes!

Of course, that's just the ones with more than three characters. You could always scroll through the Comics section of Legacy Character for more.

Name: Taskmaster
Real Name: Unknown, Possibly Tony Masters
Gender: Male
Age: Unknown, most likely late 30's-early 40's
Appearance: "Give me six months and $99,999.99 and I'll make YOU a world class mercenary!"
Alignment: Himself and whoever's paying him
Personality: Friendly and polite to whomever he meets, dispensing helpful tips and joking like he was old buddies with them even to people he's been hired to kill. Surprisingly in a world full of supervillains and deranged criminals, Taskmaster is a paragon of Consummate Professional: Almost fully loyal to his contractor until his tenure is finished; takes the time to research anyone who hires him to make absolutely sure they are worth the cash if possible; refuses to indulge in unnecessary sadism and villainy, even tolerating teammates who do and waiting until after the job is finished to deal with them; and manages to do his job as efficiently and with as little emotional attachment as possible. All while still being in it purely for the money. While he will accept jobs that have a good amount of reliable pay for little hassle, he'll just as often choose those that provide at least a bit of a challenge and/or are in general fun. He refuses to assassinate children though, and he will only go after civilian targets if they require sufficient challenge to get to, usually a wall of security between him and the mark. When teaching students at his various "academies", he has the demeanor of a fatherly gym instructor, both equal parts friendly and strict.

While friendly to most, there are few people he despises. First are people whose fighting styles and behavior are so erratic his abilities are unable to copy their styles. Second are people who are completely unprofessional in his eyes, whom are usually obvious to others as well. Thus, the one two people he openly hates are his rival mercenary and "acquaintence" Deadpool, and the Clown Prince of Crime, the Joker. He's a big Captain America fanboy, though. He also tends to become rather arrogant as a result of his photographic reflexes, oftentimes forgetting he does not know the entirely of a single martial art to properly counter it nor have any actual superhuman abilities backing him up, getting him into trouble.

Powers and Abilities:

  • Photographic Reflexes: Taskmaster can completely duplicate a person's physical movements and fighting moves just by witnessing it, whether in real life or through watching video of it. He can even achieve momentary superspeed if he witnessed a move being done on video while sped-up.
    • However, when witnessing a move, he can only do so within the context of that very moment, meaning he has no knowledge of the discipline behind the move unless he had prior training (ie learning a complicated tae kwon do move but having no training or knowledge in tae kwon do) nor have any requisite super powers to pull off some of them (ie a fighting move can only be done by use of flight despite incapable of flying himself).
    • Suffers from explicit memory loss, sacrificing personal memories of his life in exchange for fighting techniques, including his childhood and whether or not he's actually married. May be caused by something else entirely since memories do not actually work like that......
    • Ineffective against those who heavily uses energy projectiles and ineffective against those with erratic enough fighting styles.
    • Has none of the natural physical requirements to handle superspeed, thus use of it when using moves gained from sped-up video causes immense physical strain on his body and can only use them sparingly.
    • Still debate whether this is an actual superpower or not. Considering the concept of photographic memory is bogus, it may very be one......

  • Abilities that come as either a direct result of and/or as a requisite for the moves gained through his photographic reflexes:
    • Self taught fighting style combining the moves and fighting styles of heroes, prominently Captain America, Wonder Woman, Wolverine, Green Arrow, Batman, and most recently Spiderman
    • Peak physical human condition, bordering on Olympian levels
    • Expert swordsman
    • Expert marksmanship
    • Basic knowledge of multiple conventional martial arts, such as karate, kung fu, and wrestling
    • Photographic muscle memory
    • Limited Voice Mimicry

Weapons and Equipment: While Taskmaster has a very wide range of weapons he uses, mainly pertaining to all the various people he duplicated moves from, he has a couple of mainstays:

  • Prototype Shield: A specially made round shield given to him as payment that was the prototype in experiments made to duplicate the process of creating Captain America's original vibranium shield. While he it cannot stand up to the power of a direct nuclear blast, it can at least wreck a speeding truck coming at him at 200 mph
  • Broadsword: While Taskmaster is mostly trained in katanas, he prefers a broadsword in battle, taking inspiration from both the original and current holders of the title Wonder Woman.
  • Bow and Arrows: Uses a bow and a variety of lethally inclined trick arrows for stealth kills and/or more unconventional situations
  • Grappling hooks and rope
  • Miniature Boomerangs
  • Desert Eagles: Pair of custom made handguns loaded with armor piercing rounds
  • Retractible wrist mounted claws
  • Holographic Projector: Infiltration device, used to copy the physical form of anyone programmed into it use an image of that person; only has enough memory for ten people at a time, and prolonged and/or strong enough physical contact can momentarily short out the device

Origin:
Much of Taskmaster's early life is unknown, even to him. He does not even know if Tony Masters is his actual name or merely as alias. May have been a SHIELD agent, but again purely speculative. Despite this, Taskmaster came onto the criminal underworld as a top notch mercenary for hire known for duplicating fighting moves just by watching them and for his pragmatism. While he enjoys going out onto the field, his true calling is training others in the ways of his own unique fighting style. He had set up various training "academies" across the United States where he trains prospective students who have enough cash themselves or personally know those wo admit them on their behalf, transforming common thugs to elite henchman for supervillains who only want the best goons, or even into budding supervillains and mercenaries themselves. He was so good at what he does, he was hired out by various organizations such as HIVE, AIM, the Maggia, the Kingpin, and even legitimate organizations like ARGUS and SHIELD.

Naturally, Taskmaster heard and was invited to Hub City to hear about the announcement made by the Maggia. After hearing about the impending crime war at the actual meeting, he quickly left, planning to prepare, planning to hire himself out to some of the bigger players and have a go at living legends like Deathstroke and the Winter Soldier........only to suddenly go unconscious out he reached his Hub City safehouse in a green of bright Green.

When he came to, suddenly found himself confronted by a floating little blue man with a crusty attitude name Ali and told he is to train members of something called the Green Lantern in unarmed combat. There was some other exposition as well, but as far as Master was concerned......he'd better come out as a freakin' billionaire for this......

WIP whip

  • Name: Sinestro
  • Real Name: Thaal Sinestro of Korugar
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: Adult
  • Appearance: ayy
  • Alignment: Anti-Hero
  • Personality: Sinestro is a dogmatic zealot. As far as he is concerned, there is only one right way, and that is his way. The Universe requires a firmer hand to guide it. But the scary thing is... he may very well be the man to do it. He is gifted with vision, genius, and charisma, a deadly combination. Despite his obsession with order, however, Sinestro is actually a maverick when it comes to the Corps. He circumvents protocol to dispense justice as he sees fit. The Guardians mostly overlook this because he is one of their most effective Lanterns.
  • Powers and Abilities:
    • He wields a Green Lantern Ring, and all that entails.
    • Capable of creating force fields and constructs from the Green Light of Willpower
    • Flight
    • FTL travel
    • Knowledge Database - The ring is equipped with knowledge accumulated across the Corps' millennia of existence, including but not limited to knowledge of species, culture, and planetary geography. It also comes with a universal translator, allowing Sinestro to communicate with any known species of the universe.
    • Scene Replay - The ring is capable of replaying environmental scenes, given data stored in its memory banks.
    • Light manipulation - Wielders of Lantern Rings are, with some experience, capable of bending light in order to creative visual illusions, or rendering them invisible. Sinestro is nothing, if not experienced.
    • Indomitable Will - Really, a prerequisite to joining the Corps.
  • Weapons and Equipment:
    • Green Lantern Ring
  • Origin:
A battle in the stars of Sector 1417... A mighty Weaponer of Qward and a Green Lantern too weak to stand against him... A crash landing on Korugar among thousands of worlds... were it not for a confluence of these specific possibilities, Sinestro may have remained a mere archaeologist bound to his planet, unaware of what lay beyond the night sky. This, however, is not that alternate universe. When the Lantern fell, gravely wounded by his foe, he reached out to the nearby Sinestro for aid, to take up his ring and finish his fight. Sinestro accepted the mantle, and against all odds, defeated the Weaponer. Thanking the newcomer for his aid, the wounded Lantern begged for his ring back, so that he could use it to return to Oa and recuperate.

Sinestro refused.

He turned his back, and as the Lantern drew his last breath, the Ring sought a new guardian for Sector 1417 - none other than he. He was sent to Oa, where he would prove to become one of the best Lanterns in the Corps, through a combination of talent, vision, and ruthlessness. It was there that he struck up an odd friendship with his erstwhile rival, Abin Sur, although they would clash over differences in ideologies.

Then Abin Sur died, his ring granted to some hotshot from a backwater planet. The best of them all died, felled by some Kree ship. This opened Sinestro's eyes: the universe was far too dark, far too corrupt to be left to its own purposes. He chafed at the Corps' restrictions, finding them too lenient on those who would worship evil's might. So, in quiet, the Lantern returned to his home, Korugar. It was an earthbound planet, having not made any meaningful breakthroughs in spaceflight, which made it all too easy for Sinestro to topple the world's regimes, setting himself as the planet's sole regent and guardian. Under his (oppressive) guidance, Korugar prospered, absolute order instilled.

This small experiment showed Sinestro that the universe could be tamed. That order could reign.
