This is to move this discussion out of the IP discussion thread.

Given the nature of this trope, and that the page has been under the "no pic" edict for a long time, I think this should be an exception to the "put pics on subpages" rule. With that in mind, here's the suggestions I'd put forth in the other thread. A light-hearted and completely SFW pic is the best way to go for this and this is the first idea that came to mind. Thoughts?

I think the first one by itself, instead of the third one by itself, would be better. I didn't understand what the title meant until I saw it with the other books, and got that it is a sequel title.

Too cluttered, yeah.

Not even sure why the whole cover is necessary. Can't we just use the image of the person/creature being bound & gagged and not include those text and duck image and those other stuffs.

I suppose Cerebus being cropped out of the orange cover could work as a stand-alone, but I like the overall theme of the cover in the first suggestion...and I honestly don't find it cluttered at all, the imagery leaps out at me plainly.

What does the text add to the trope?

I think it's at least amusing, especially in light of the previous two covers...that said, I can see how the Yiddish might be confusing here since the comic took a sharp turn toward Judeo-Christian themes in the arc those issues came from, plus Cerebus' captors are Yiddish versions of the Three Stooges.

[up]I can't see how the rest of the cover adds anything to the picture unless you already know the story (which most people won't - I haven't a clue).

I think it's a good idea to depict an obvious non-human bound and gagged, since that reduces the likelihood of a prurient interest on the part of the viewer.

By the way, which subpage is the image suggested for? I have my own suggestion for the ComicBook/ one: [1]

Wait, why is this page under the no-pic edict?

I don't know. Some of the examples of this trope are of sexual nature, which may have something to do with it. I know it is used in childrens' books as a non-sexual plot device; I wonder if we can take "safe" images from there.

[up]I'd love to be able to illustrate this trope with a picture from some place such as Deviant Art, and I can think of at least half a dozen suitable candidates, but we should probably err on the side of safety and use a non-human per the OP.

[up][up][up] The cited reasons in the old threads were that people were essentially edit warring the pics by replacing them with increasingly risque pics, to the point where doing the fixes became too much trouble to mess with. I didn't pay attention to that page when this was all happening, but Maddy or maybe shima can fill in some details.

Looks good. While my opinion is far from binding, it looks like we're well on our way to getting this wrapped up.

That image is good for Comic Books, yes.
