Honestly, all of this Outrealm stuff blurs the line considerably there. For all we know, they might not be the exact same versions.

[up] We know they come from a future where they had to timetravel, like how the events in the game went.

Though it's true that this could have happened in multiple timelines and worlds.

Also, Paradise Scramble is great!

I'd agree if they didn't change the hair colors before they appeared. Otherwise they could have these hair due to being alternate selves. But they don't.

Also Bond units seems to work similar to how Hydra split of his heart and Lilith from himself. The two Kamuis bond breaths life into the earth to create a bond unit.

Kamuis give rise to more Kamuis.

Hail Hydra!

Why do they even change their hair colour? And change their names? Like who's going to recognize them?

Even if Time Travel to the past creates Alternate Timeline, I think similar events to Awakening might pop up, so having an Exalt show up long before they exist might confuse people.

Unless Odin starts the legacy by having Ophelia.

Maybe it's a Kingdom Hearts styled "keep the knowledge of there being time travel/alternate worlds secret" ruse cruise.

[up][up][up][up] What about hair color being changed implies that the characters have to be the Awakening ones?

Also, delicious Invisible History Map and Battle themes!

Because it's immediately done before they appear on screen to avoid having to confirm pairings.

If they were alternate selves of the ones in Awakening they could have gone and given them official fathers and just have that be their natural hair.

I think it's implied they're the versions of the characters from the Future Past timeline.

Well if they're alternate selves of the ones we play as then they can have an official father that has no bearing on the ones from Awakening.

Also, the kids are in the current era of Ylisse not the alternate futures. That's why Hydra used his magic powers to make the future they came from beautiful in honor of those who died.

[up] A strong case. However, not even the Future Past children have official hair as their default hair is actually overridden by their father regardless. This likely holds true for several alternate Awakening realities, so it's plausible that this Owain, Inigo, and Severa are different children from the ones in Awakening.

In fact, it is done this way so that the developers can avoid confirming if they are the canon Awakening kids or not. Thus, you can decide for yourself whether or not they are the same kids that did go through the canon Awakening storyline.

That said, this DLC does favour a certain option over another. I don't think I need to spell out what that is.

I'm trying to make sure I have this right about the game.

Are they really doing something similar in the vein of the Zelda Oracle games where they're making two separate game versions, rather than just choosing routes in one game? And the only version that has both routes together in one game is a limited edition version?

That limited edition version better come stateside and alone. I'd have been more on board with the thought that the game case art was reversible or something.

I mean, sure, Pokemon makes the versions thing work, but it feels weird for a game like this.

Two largely individual games, yes, and it was already confirmed for a few months now that they're still being sold separately overseas.

On that note, I'm pretty sure the "limited edition" thing was just a rumor. All copies of the game are capable of downloading different routes for new save files via DLC, however.

It looks like a single version will make it to Europe.

Also, buying an additional route via DLC wasn't as expensive as buying the game again; 16.7 dollars each (when the base game costs 40). More at Serene's Forest.

I still think 70 dollars/euro/similarly valued currency is decent inverstment for something you can spend one or two hundreds of hours at. Most AAA titles nowadays go for that price, and its not like being on a handheld makes games inherently worse. But again, irrelevant opinion.

When you add the prices in terms of buying one version, and downloading the others, you get around the same price as a game that gets a bonus campaign as DLC (which is fine: the Invisible Kingdom route is basically a bonus campaign for all purposes).

If you only buy two versions, you get around the cost of the usual full game (though at the high end of what full games usually cost in Japan; think of it as a high-ambition title).

If you pay for just the retail version (and only one of them), you basically pay bargain price for something with enough content to count as a game on it's own.

I don't think it would be wise to mod them in Awakening; in my current save, a theoretical Ophelia would have huge modifiers all around (6 STR, -1 MAG, 6 SKL, 3 SPD, 2 LUK, 3 DEF, 0 RES), and access to Myrmidon, Cleric, Troubador, Pegasus Knight, Knight, Cavalier, Mercenary, Thief and Wyvern Rider.

Heck, Soleil would probably be even more ridiculous: 3 STR, 0 MAG, 9 SKL, 8 SPD, 0 LUK, 0 DEF, -2 RES; and Mercenary, Myrmidon, Pegasus Knight, Thief, Wyvern Rider, Cavalier, Knight and Archer.

Yeah, third gen Morgan was a bit of an overkill already, but this... damn.

How hard would it be fore modders to reconcile Fate's child-associated-with-father mechanics with Awakening's child-associated-with-mother ones, short of turning Owain and Inigo into women?

Chrom has a child bound to him, and male Robin will produce female Morgan in exactly the same way most childs are produced in Fates, down to hair color determination.

I kinda want to know where, but it's apparently mentioned by Ryoma ingame at some point that sometimes a royal is born with strong dragon blood in their veins that makes it possible for them to turn into dragons.
