Jim Sterling rubs me up the wrong way because he looks like he strangles people for the Gestapo, but I don't fundamentally disagree with any of his points in the video.

Thats the joke. When he first started doing the series, people said that he was acting like some kind of nazi dictator for calling out industry Bs. So he played up the part to show how ridiculous it is to picture a guy who keeps trying to create a dictator like cult of personality just ranting about Vidjagamuz.

I am hoping any expansions do something truly interesting. Like a few new machines, maybe new a dungeon/ruin, and my personal favorite a new weapon or two. All of that alongside some more story material possibly exploring other unanswered points like what happened to the other AI's or at least touching on it.

What would you guys want to see?

I'd love to know more about what happened to HEPHAESTUS. The more excuses to fight more and new machines, the better.

PATCH!

We can multi buy stuff, animation and AI fixes, no crashing if you've played more than 200 hours, amongst other things.

The multi-buy is great. I've been kinda low on blaze for some time (I love bombs), and Grazers aren't common where I'm hanging around at the moment, and the main reason I've not been simply buying it is because it was a pain to buy them one at a time. So yay.

Also, who's been playing this for 200 hours? I like it a lot, but even with the best will in the world there's not 200 hours of content here. I dunno how long I've been playing, but it's less than 100 hours and I've done almost everything, and I haven't been rushing it.

[up][up][up][up] A Blood and Wine style story expansion, exploring more of the setting. Possibly looking more at the Oseram, or zooming in on Carja nobility.

And more machines, of course.

I forgot to answer that question. Pretty much what [up] said, really. A nice chunky bit of mostly self-contained story. As I've said, I'd like to see what happens with Itamen, but there's something like three tribes whose homelands we haven't seen (the Oseram, Banuk, and ...Utaru?), as well as the Forbidden West, though I expect that'll be saved for a proper sequel.

I find it funny that, despite Faro deleting APOLLO at least in part because he wanted to keep future humanity from knowing his crimes, pretty much the only records of the past that survived tell us that it's all his fault. He managed to wash away everything except his crimes, though even those would have gone undiscovered if not for a meddling kid and her Mysterious Benefactor.

[up]Well, more directly the funny part is how they went through all that trouble trying to find the perfect way to preserve stuff when it turns out that all the corporate memos they spent talking about it were actually the most resilient things on the planet.

[up] Although what you see in the datapoints are simply what data that remains uncorrupted after 1,000 years of exposure, and there's quite a few orders of magnitude difference between the amount of data stored in APOLLO and an email string left on a datapad, 80% of which is corrupted gibberish.

OK, I need to kill a Stormbird, but the ones on the map are in places that don't have any really good cover. Ideas?

Tether them down pound off parts, wash, rinse repeat, That has worked the best for me. It takes away their mobility and makes it easier to at least remove the damn lightning gun.

[up][up]Shoot off the lightning gun on its chest first. It's usually armored, so you'll need 2 tearblast arrows. Stopping that lightning bombardment makes it much easier to deal with.

After that, tether it to the ground, shoot off the engines on the wings to ground it permanently (easier said that done however), and freeze it and tripleshot high damage arrows to the eyes or the wreck of the lightning gun.

Don't bother trying to find cover from the cannon, since it does AOE splash.

Took some notes. Maybe the Tearblaster can remove the wing engines as well?

I forgot about the Tearblaster! I annihilated a grazer in 3 shots with that thing. Wish you could mod it.

Wonder if that'd help in the last cauldron. Really love how they made the last one the easiest to navigate (kill a watcher, walk down a hallway, there you are) and then made it the hardest to finish. (Here's a Thunderjaw, try and kill it in a walk in closet.) Yay.

Freeze + triple hardpoints (the handling on the sharpshot bow is too bad for precision arrows) to the heart puts down Thunderjaws pretty easy.

Actually there's not much that can't be solved with three hardpoint barrages to a sensitive point.

Tearblast its disk launchers, tie it to the ground, freeze it, shred it with its own disk launchers.

I've never managed to knock a Stormbird's engines off, not enough to ground it anyway, and not for lack of trying. I tend to focus on the lightning gun too (though again, I don't think I've ever actually managed to destroy it), and usually I end up stunning the thing, bringing it to the ground, at which point I just pelt it with bombs.

Just finished the game and saw the after credits scene.

Does anyone else kind of want to play as Sylens? I think playing as the antagonist and, then switching to Aloy at the end to take him down, would give a sequel something of it's own to have a theme around. Something similar to like Faust or Macbeth.

Plus Aloy seems to have little interest in finding out anything about the old world without him around, or a mother to find. Her story arc seemed pretty bookended to me by the end of everything. Playing as Sylens could lead to learning a lot more about the game's lore from Hades, and maybe even learning more about the Banuk who were barely touched upon.

No i would not want to play as Sylens most because Aloy's story isn't bookended. Not only did she want to explore on her own before Sylens, but she has the obvious interest in restoring Gaia. Potentially part of the reason she was created in the cradle in the first place.

That's true but, she mostly seemed interested in the old world when it involved her origins. And there is restoring Gaia, but I remember Sylens saying rebuilding everything with the cauldrons could take years?

The main reason I thought playing as Sylens would be cool is as a player I thought it would be fun you could build up all these consequences by playing as the villain and have a bigger fall depending on how far you go with it. Plus it'd be the easiest way to learn about how Hades went rogue if you followed his perspective.

I wouldn't want to play as Sylens. Can't really say why, I just wouldn't. Maybe it's because he's mostly a dick.

I think that Aloy does have an interest in learning about the old world, if only because of her connection to it. She did go seeking Elisabet's final resting place, after all. But yeah, you're not wrong in a way, finding out about Zero Dawn and everything was kind of incidental to learning about her origins. On second thought, it's all mixed in together. She wanted to know who her parents were (or her mother, at least), so entered the Proving to win an claim a boon of the Matriarchs. The Eclipse attacked the Proving and were after Aloy specifically, and then Teersa explained where they found Aloy, revealing that she didn't actually know who Aloy's parents were or if she even had any. There were no further answers to be had about that right away, so the question became why did the Eclipse want Aloy dead and who was this older woman who looked like her (and yeah, there's the possibility that this was Aloy's mother), which led to all the other discoveries.

So I got this game. How do you lock on to enemies? It's impossible for me to hit anything with the bow and even fighting with the spear is hard with the camera being too slow. How are you supposed to aim with a fucking controller? Even when I'm stealthed and the target's unmoving it takes like 3 seconds to get the crosshair to where I want it.

There isn't a lockon, as far as I know. You could tweak the sensitivity? There's also a skill that slows down time while aiming your bow, makes it much easier.

I never had much trouble with that, though.

Can't say I had any trouble with it either, that I remember.
