If the rumors that Miyazaki is back to direct are true i'm willing to give this a shot.
DS 2 was kind of one step forward and one and a half steps back in a lot of its changes, but considering i've heard that bloodborne is a fantastic game i don't necessarily have much reason to doubt his ability and feel comfortable blaming DS 2's lack of excellence on his absence.

Goodbye, guard breaks. See ya, reliably accessed PVP. Been nice knowing you, mid-gesture rolling. So long, functional covenants.
Welcome back, same-button-for-jumping-and-running. I hated you in Bloodborne and DS 1, and I have a feeling you're going to be here.
But seriously, Bloodborne was a wonderful game except in the PVP aspects, so I really hope they don't carry over some of those mechanical changes to Dark Souls 3. And I'll be very disappointed if covenants aren't present, or are as completely unimportant and useless as they are in Bloodborne.
I hope Estrus Flasks are just mapped to a button like blood vials. I don't wanna fumble around for them when I need them.
Also Oscar's Armor is just never going to leave us is it?

Oh really when?it was a different armor in demon's souls. it'll probably be a different one in ds3 assuming miyazaki is on it. he doesn't really directly re-use things between games.
I really wanted a Demon's Souls 2, but that seems to be a lost hope now.
Didn't play Dark Souls 2 or Bloodborne, so I'm more curious about what the world, story, and characters/Big Bad will be in this one. We've killed Gwyn, killed the King of Drangleic. I... I kind of don't want "another" land to explore, maybe Lordran or Drangleic x years later.
I do hope we get away from this "Age of Fire" nonsense or at least that this is the conclusion. This is starting to remind of how Assassin's Creed became focused around Ezio for three whole games.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!well it was basically concluded in dark souls 1 as far as i'm concerned because we basically got all the resolution we should have gotten for a souls game.
Dark Souls 2 just rehashed Dark Souls 1 under the disguise of "HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF BLAH BLAH" so they wouldn't have to come up with something more original or interesting.
but apparently miyazaki is supposed to be directing this game. i'm pretty sure he will come up with something different.
The sun is bleeding... Ok, did someone take the Abyss, mix it with Chaos, and then shoved the freaky mess into the First Flame?

Maybe use the blood of a Great One as well.
Watch SymphogearBleeding sun.
I'm not sure whether I want Dark Souls to derive inspiration from Eversion or not.
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans. It's not like a bleeding sun / moon is anything new.
I'm curious to see how they implement poise in this one...I hope it will still exist in some form or another; I feel like Miyazaki prefers everyone just play a flipping ninja with a katana judging from my experiences in Demon Souls (no poise), Dark Souls (Woodgrain ring) pvp and the whole entire game of Bloodborne, but I'll always have a soft spot for fat-rolling knights.
Hopefully B team keeps up their work even if Miyazaki is leading—-I feel they make more fun gameplay decisions, I probably sank more time into Dark Souls 2 than Demon Soul, Dark Souls, and Bloodborne combined. For whatever reason, I also really liked that (barring a few weapon movesets) you could play a left-handed character so I hope that carries over to the third game. Although I wouldn't miss repairing equipment, I also prefer how DS 2 automatically repairs gear at bonfires. I don't really see a point to having to pay 200 souls to repair gear in DS 1 or Bloodborne; the items durability are so high it doesn't factor into gameplay so it just ends up being a chore.
Fortunately they fixed all the bugs in DS 2's durability system. If we're lucky, they won't bring them back in this next game.
Hopefully.
Bloodborne's durability system works well though. It's not so bad that you need to go back to the workshop every few minutes, but repairing your stuff is very important, and you need to pay attention to it. Although for some reason they didn't include the little orange bar under the weapon icon that indicated the durability that time.
Hopefully this gets a PC release; I'd actually go out of my way to buy a controller then. I'm too much of a fan boy not too.
IGN seems to think this is legit.◊ I really hope this won't be a hoax.
On that note, what do you all want new in DS 3? Personally I want them to redo magic so it's more interesting - Imagine if Sunlight Blade, instead of buffing your weapon, summoned a new weapon that's a blade of sunlight. Or if there was a Soul Shortsword that had similar effects to the Ivory Shortsword from DS 2?
Also, I want flails and throwing weapons. Especially the latter - javelins are awesome.
Bring most of the quality of life improvements from Bloodborne. Like map Estrus Flasks to a healing button instead of making it an item for example.
But fuck yeah javelins.
Oh really when?Problem is you run out of buttons like that.
R1/R2/L1/L2 are already for left and right hand attacks. Triangle for two-handing / powerstancing. Square for item, circle for roll, X for interact. Doesn't leave much I could see being a dedicated estus button.
Yo, surprised this isn't posted yet.

Confirmed. Miyazaki must be some sort of machine. I'm a little surprised this is true.
And this is apparently the Grand Finale.
I hope the final boss is the Old One.
the old one is demon's souls, though. different universe.
i'm hyped for this honestly. the trailer and artwork i've seen so far looks much more like dark souls 2 than 1 to me, but if miyazaki is at the helm i'm sure this will be a good game. in spite of the fact that we had no gameplay, this is the thing i care about the most from e3 so far.
No, they're in the same universe, though.
Miyazaki told me himself.
(I may be bullshitting just a little bit.)
Well its definitely taking place directly before or in an alternate version of Dark Souls 2/Drangleic because I'm pretty sure that was the Giant Lord at the end there.
Smelter Giant Lord.
Velka help us all.
I saw deserts though. I like deserts. Hope there's an area in one. Also, was that Alsanna?

highlights
Ds1 level connectivity, but please take notes out of DS 2 level intractability please.
Also take cues from BB's boss presentation, with the dynamic animations and grunts/howls/sounds. No more mute bosses.
and dark skin options that actually work right lol.
