The 00s were kind of a The Scrappy decade to a lot of people I guess.
You hear a lot more nostalgia for decades before the millennium. People say they love the 90s, 80s, 70s etc.
We're kinda remembered for Britney's saga, rap (that at least wasn't autotuned), the apex of emo music like Simple Plan, horrible superhero movies and George W Bush. 
What are the 10s gonna be known for?
The 10s is the decade of advancing technology, rise of indie games and web animations, and nostalgia becoming more common.
What? What is this?
I thonk the 00s just haven't had enough time. They're too recent and clear in our memory, so Nostalgia Filter hasn't taken over.

Think about it, why do you think things like vinyls, retro fashion and other things from the 70's, 80's and 90's keep popping up? There all from scenes that were filmed 30 or more years ago! Things like Ipads and smart TV's are just the result of the writters thinking up ways to make it look like " the world of tomorrow".
