Pretty common with the Muppets. Though less so now that pretty much all of the original Muppet Performers have retired (or died).
There was a time when if you picked two commonly-used Muppets at random, you'd be almost certain to have either Jim Henson or Frank Oz talking to themselves if not each other.

Fresh-eyed movie blogI think Chip is a serial killer.
Swedish Chef does an Ariana Grande (warning, likely auto-play)
We haven't seen any sign of that new pig Kermit was dating back in the first episode. Same deal with Fozzy and his human girlfriend. Was the first episode a pilot and there was some minor re-working and dropping of characters between then and the second episode?
Kermit's girlfriend took a lot of flak in the run up to the premiere. For being a homewrecker, not so deserved. For having no apparent characterization other than being another pig Kermit almost immediately took up with who is clearly modeled on Kim Kardashian, Replacement Scrappy-Ville.
Fresh-eyed movie blogI've been noticing a trend in the past 3 episodes. There's usually two plots that compete for equal screen-time, as well as a small subplot that's made up of some quick jokes. Here we have Piggy hanging out with the others after work and Fozzie accidentally sending Statler to the hospital as the two main plots, and Sam developing a crush on Janice as the jokey subplot. I think having three plots in a 22-minute episode is a bit much.
Fozzie's plot had the most laughs, but it's pushed into the background in order to focus more on Piggy's plot halfway through. Seeing the Muppets hanging out at the bar also offered a lot of comedic highlights, but I feel like the conclusion was wrapped up a bit too quickly. There's also a missed opportunity to see how Piggy's show turned out after everybody shows up to work late and hungover.
Don't you mean modeled on Natalie Dormer?

Sam is Standards and Practice. Perfect.
.... Sam also has a crush on Janice. ...... that is very weird.
Denise is actually modelled on Pamela Anderson. In that the muppet that she's a rebuild of is literally an old pig version of Pamela Anderson they had laying around. I believe the pilot presentation has the original character.
EDIT: Oh god, that karaoke sequence was amazing! Swedish Chef singing Rapper's Delight might be my favourite thing ever!

This is so far my favorite episode! .... though I hope it doesn't take a massively-long karaoke sequence for this show to stand out! They can't always go to karaoke! Swedish Chef rapping was the crowning funny moment. Did you see Ed Helm's face!?

When Piggy made the announcement she would no longer hang out with her employees, after her talk with kermit, i kept expecting Piggy to come back and say something like, "Thanks for the advice, Kermit!" thus ruining Kermit's plan.
One thing about the show, that I wish they'd do is show an actual sketch during an Up Late with Miss Piggy sequence. Random sketches have been a staple of almost all other Muppet shows, and it seems weird they haven't done one here.
Also, Skeeter without his glasses = Nightmare Fuel
If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.Scooter. Not Skeeter
Sorry. I think I had Doug on the brain.
If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.Skeeter was Scooter's twin sister on Muppet Babies.
Fresh-eyed movie blogSo I'm nearly a week late, but I finally caught this.
Oh man, Stantler got smoked!
And Swedish Chef doing Rappers delight was as great as hyped up.
I already knew this show would be fine since the first ep, but now I'm totally convinced it will last a while.
One Strip! One Strip!I'm hoping for at least 5 seasons like The Muppet Show. It will definitely get renewed for a Season 2.
.... who adds stuff about a new episode hours before it actually premieres on TV?? See this is why I kind of hate the whole "see it first when everyone else does" mentality. If you DON'T, you'll be spoiled by endings online elsewhere!
Adds stuff where?
Fresh-eyed movie blogTo the tvtropes page of this show.
Canadian TV gets it a day earlier.
Still, look at the edits and maybe ask to wait a day? (Or add spoilers)
"You can reply to this Message!"Where there's Fozzie's girlfriend. Someone asked about her. Now where's Denise at? Her and Kermit probably broke up.
And, yet another addition to the "I can't believe The Muppets made a joke about that" list: Kermit saying that the fight between Piggy and Reese is the only thing North Korea's allowed to watch.
Funny visual gag: Rizzo somehow driving a car.
If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.... oh my god Denise has never ever been seen or mentioned since the pilot! STORY, Writers!!
I'm glad they're getting more songs in the show. I like those moments. Plus, the woman who plays Fozzie's girlfriend is a singer. I do think Fozzie's side-story was one we seen before in children's shows, but it was mildly pulled off.
I really liked the meta-bit where Piggy uses Kermit as a puppet.
Heard the show has gotten a full 16 episode season.
Yep! Great news. -Kermit arm flail-
Doesn't Dave Goelz perform Chip? Since he has a scene with Gonzo, that would be like Talking To Himself!
