I hear pretty everyone says get Marienburg ASAP if it's anywhere near your start. It's got a real moneymaking port.
If you want to confederate, it'll help by hitting the other Forces of Destruction factions, I think. The minor Empire factions will tend to not like those, so making war on them will make them like you...also, just plain beating them up and proposing it like making a vassal works too.

The Beastmen respawn. So you will have to worry about them eventually.
Ah, okay. I got the "Faction Destroyed" message for them so I assumed they were gone for good.
Oh that Skaven joke.
What Skaven joke?
There's no Skaven joke there, man-thing. Silly man-thing, making jokes about man-sized rats.
I was surprised the big toad was speaking english as i thought it was some fictional language like in the Beast of Chaos trailer.
Given that they speak telepathically, just call it Translation Convention or something.
Yep.
Either way it looks glorious as always. I definitely want to make the Lizardmen my first playthrough in that.
But anyway, after numerous failed attempts at playing the Empire, I've started two other campaigns: One as the dwarves, one as the Bretonnians that I started earlier today. Both have been going pretty well; I'm at the End Times as the Dwarves and watching Chaos ravage what's left of the Empire after the first wave while using my very great wealth to build up multiple full-stack armies. Thorgrim is sitting in Blackfire Pass and Zhufbar and Karak Kadrin both have strong garrisons, so if Chaos smashes the Vampire Counts and comes for us, we'll hopefully be ready.
Chaos actually managed to destroy a few of our cities when they came into the Border Prince regions, but they'd worn themselves down so much by that point that we were able to take them back pretty fast.
As Bretonnia, things have been going fairly well; I was able to peacefully absorb all of the other duchies in the Kingdom (most of them in a single turn) while from time to time killing Orcs or Beastmen. I conquered Moussilon myself and have even ranged out a bit into the Empire to destroy the Skulltaker orcs and fight some battles with the Vampire Counts. The Fey Enchantress is a beastly magic user, she's gotten a lot of kills when I use her in battle.
So, the Kingdom is united, secure, and has a pretty good web of alliances (we've got the dwarves of Karak Ziflin along with the Empire). When I confederated a lot of the duchies I almost had a huge financial crisis because everyone was using so many peasants the economy would tank if I ended the turn with all of the armies intact (as in -6000 income). Instead I disbanded a lot of armies until my income was back in the positives, so now I've got roughly three armies: Leoncuer's, the Fey Enchantress's, and Alderic of Bordeaux. There's another guy in Parravon that has a smaller force but right now he's holed up in his castle to protect it.
We're also at war with the Wood Elves now, but I aim to burn the Oak of Ages down if necessary to keep them from constantly attacking us, even though we're over 100 turns in and this is the first time they've declared war on us.

Temple Guards look cool so far. Can't wait to see some of the other units.
So that's the generic melee general, I assume.
Looks good. I'd imagine next month or something we'll be getting the Dark Elf roster. Hopefully we'll get another trailer at E3, and not just the Fallen Gates battle demo.
Dragon VS T-Rex!
Aw, I was hoping for actual battle footage like the Black Fire Pass thing.
At least we have a release date, though; I wonder what the Early Adopter race is going to be this time.
It's apparently a race pack for Total Warhammer the First.
Dogs of War maybe? They confirmed it wasn't Kislev.
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies. But then what's the Old Friend going to be?
It's almost definitely a single unit, as they pointed to the Blood Knights as an example.
I hope it's a group of Rat Catchers each with their own small (but vicious) dog.
Sampled gameplay (as Lizard Men). Feels better.
How do they play?
Looks good. I'm actually kind of excited about Rogue Armies, I want to see how they are to fight. Wish we could have seen Naggarond, though. Total War subreddit has also spotted what might be a hint of Skaven, in that tunnel near the ruins when the advisor is talking about what you can do to ruined cities.
Okay, so since this is finally out on Mac I was able to start playing it. Started an Empire campaign, and after two hours have taken Reikland.
The Beastmen apparently didn't have very much luck; they got wiped out when they wandered into Reikland and I beat their armies while beating down the Secessionists. Now that all of Reikland is under my control I have two fairly sizable armies but no real idea of what to do next. I really just want to make it so that I can confederate with the surrounding states but they don't seem to want to do it.
Maybe I should attack Middenheim and bring Todbringer to justice for supporting the rebels? Or I could bring Marienburg back into the Imperial fold, since they broke away.
Anyone have any ideas?
