There always comes a time, when darkness is upon us, a time for the heroes of the world to prove their strength and courage. Book of Balzenir, year 135 after the Second Twilight War, by Geldan Amerid.

It is said that at the beginning of time, there was nothing except the Old Gods. From the void they emerged and when they saw the primordial chaos of the universe, they decided to act. Using all of their might, they created our world, Baligor, and the afterlife. They gave life to all things and used their wisdom to breathe intelligence to the first creatures to walk upon the land. For millennia, our world was a paradise, a peaceful place in which all creatures were in constant harmony with each other. The evil didn’t exist and the only thing to worry about was death, but the afterlife made that concern seem insignificant. Then it happened, the corruption started. One of gods began to grow ambitious and jealous of the great power Baligor had stored deep inside its core. The gods had put great effort in creating the world, and some of the energy used was still latent, sustaining the life in it. The gods weakened themselves willingly to create life, but the god now known as Alisoris, the Dark One, began to regret that decision.

Soon, Alisoris started plotting against his fellow Old Gods. He wanted the power of Baligor for himself and himself only. Thus, the First Twilight War took place. The darkness covered the world and for some time, after the Dark One managed to overthrown and imprison his own brothers and sisters, it seemed that he would achieve his selfish goal. But then, a light of hope appeared. A nameless hero managed to fight the forces of darkness to a standstill, but more importantly, he managed to release the Old Gods form their cruel prison. The Old Gods saw in the hero the chance to win. So they infused the hero with their divine essence, making him powerful enough to defeat and banish Alisoris for quite some time.

This however, was not the end of the conflict. Some of Alisoris’ generals had survived the war, and five centuries later, when their numbers had grown large enough, they tried to counterattack Baligor. The Second Twilight War occurred. However, this time the Old Gods were prepared, and without the Dark One leadership, the forces of darkness stood no chance against a stronger and united Baligor.

Eight centuries have now passed since the end of the Second Twilight War, and Baligor is now at the edge of war again. Only this time, it’s the fault of its own inhabitants. Several nations are now racing towards a massive conflict, one that could very well be but a sign of what it is to come. Among Heodig’s Circle of Sorceress, rumors are emerging, rumors about the Dark One’s return. If such rumors are true, this means Baligor is facing perhaps its biggest threat in centuries and maybe this time, the cost of victory will be even bigger than before…

Welcome to Baligor, a High Fantasy RPG. In this setting you will play as one of the different races that live in this mystical land. This RPG is mostly character driven, so that means the plot will progress because of the actions of the characters, instead of the characters reacting to random events. Also, as a war is approaching, please have in mind that some characters can, and will, die through the course of this game. So please don’t be angry if your character(s) don’t survive.

Now, before we get started, I will explain some of the basics of this world.

  • Baligor: This land is about the size of Russia, with several isles not too far from its coasts. Its climate differs according to the region. The North is cold, the south is warm and good for agriculture and vineyards, the east is arid and the west has rainforests. It has different forms of government, with kings, viceroys and nobles houses controlling different parts of the continent.

  • Races:

  • Humans: The third most powerful race of Baligor and the most numerous. They control the southern and eastern regions mostly, but they are also present in the other ones.

  • Slanigs: The most powerful race of the continent and second in numbers. The Slanigs are great warriors, but they are also extremely prideful. Their average height is about 6’4’ for the males and 6’2 for the females. They have pale skin and raven hair with sharp nails and large canine teeth. But their most distinctive feature is their eyes, which are red as blood. Yet, this doesn’t stop other races from considering them somewhat beautiful. They claim the nameless hero that once defeated the Dark One was one of them. They are also famous for their unorthodox amorous and sexual practices. They have communities and all the four regions. Their life span is about 140 years.

  • Rogars: Considered to be the scarcest race in Baligor, yet they are also considered to be the smartest. They are a very small, 5 feet average, and very peaceful. They only possess one eye instead of two. Most of them, however, have an immense mystical potential. They live mostly in the western regions. Their average life span is about 120 years.

  • Cortuns: The second most powerful race. They are very tall, 10 feet, with deep voices, fur covering their bodies, and great strength. Historically, they were assumed to be mere brutes, but this is only a myth, for they are as intelligent as the humans and slanigs. They are purely carnivorous, and enjoy eating their food while it’s still alive. They are the third race in numbers and live only in the northern regions. Their life span is 50 years.

  • Classes: These are the types of characteristics you can use for each race.

  • Humans: Noble, warrior, adventurer, sorcerer. Noble allows you to have access to weapons and money as well as giving you the chance to experience what it feels like to be in a position of power; warrior gives you the chance to fight battles; adventurer allows you to explore Baligor and its mysteries; sorcerer gives to the opportunity to join the Circle of sorcerers, an exclusive guild located in the city Heodig, a neutral place of sorts, dedicated only to the studies of the mystical arts. In the circle, everyone is equal. It doesn’t matter your race, political status or economical class. The magic is the gods’ gift to Baligor, thus, everybody gifted is welcome in the circle.

  • Slanigs: Warlord, warrior, sorcerer. The Slanigs don’t have nobility, they value strength above anything else. A warlord is the leader of the local community, although he swears fealty to the Tzhig, the supreme warlord of the Slanigs.

  • Rogars: Sorcerer, scholar. The scholar gives you the opportunity to search Baligor in the hopes to find knew or lost knowledge and relics. Scholar is the Rogars equivalent of an adventurer.

  • Cortuns: Hunter, Sorcerer. Hunter allows you to kill anything on your path to survive; it gives a glimpse of what it feels to be the ultimate depredator. Although you must be careful, some Slanigs like to kill Cortuns as a way to prove their worth and bravery.

Now the character sheet:

  • Name: What is the name you go by.

  • Age: How old are you?

  • Appearance: What do you look like?

  • Personality: What kind of person are you?

  • Bio: Tell us your story.

  • Class: What is your class?

  • Status: What are you doing as of now? Do you have a love interest? A best friend? A family?

Note: you are allowed to have more than one character, but no more than three. This means you can’t play as the four main races; you’ll have to leave one behind. Also while I will control several aspects of this RPG, you’ll also have some freedom to do what you want. You want to kill an NPC because why not? Sure go ahead, just remember, this only is acceptable with NPC, give chance the other players to defend themselves. You want to go exploring? Go ahead, this world is an interactive experience of a sorts. However, this RPG still has a plot, which I will try to expand daily.

If there are doubts, don’t be afraid to ask. Is anyone interested?
