See this

I really struggle when writing a comment that is longer than a few words as I cannot see the start of my sentence. How much does it take to convert the fixed length field into an adjustable one like the one I am currently typing in?

I'd suggest that if your edit comments are that long that you either:

a) shorten your edit reasons;

b) say "see discussion" and put the full text on the discussion page; or

c) compose your edit reason in Notepad or another text editor and copy-paste.

Just because there are ways to work around the limitation doesn't mean that it's not annoying.

It probably shouldn't be a multi-line text box, but it could stand to be quite a bit longer. It really is too small to explain most edit reasons complex enough to warrant explaining in the first

It would be fun to see what's left of comfortable editing, should this thing be implemented before a fix to the horrible misbehaving of stretchable boxes upon use of PageDn, PageUp keys (Home/End and Ctrl+Home/End too, when there's enough text to warrant scroll bars).

I think that the "End" key working as it should with the edit reason box is the last concession I'd ever be able to make.
