Alright. Someone is convinced otherwise. Usage counts don't mean much due to Useful Notes' equivalent of "Not thriving" is a common thing.

Somehow I don't think two and a half people will reach a great kind of consensus here.

I propose to do nothing and lock this conversation, freeing up space for others in the TRS.

I plan to view Useful Notes as a Creator Page Guidelines-abiding, No Troper Tales Please variation of "Just for Fun." It's just that I remember stuff like [Useful Notes in Main].VRAM, and see something quite not salvageable in a big picture. Hope I didn't waste too much of other people's time. It would take carpet bombing to break the ice. Which could scare tropers away and therefore is not feasible.

[up]Seconded. I think on TRS, at least in its current state, the "tropeworthy?" debate should be saved for articles at least pretending to be tropes.

I do agree on closing this.

A topic on useful notes pages in general for the long term projects forum for making them more useful facts for writers would probably be better. The page does need some work like that.

We should at least merge the two pages.

A merge seems appropriate. The American Money article seems better overall, but if there's anything worth keeping on the American Currency page we might as well grab it before cutlisting. (Wicks and inbounds are both negligible — 6/14 for Money and 10/3 for Currency.)

[up] Seconded, there is zero reason to need both pages since they're both about the same topic. And the American Money article is more in depth.

I went ahead and redirected American Currency after transplanting much of its content to the appropriate sections of American Money.

As a non-US writer, I find this kind of Useful Notes very useful. I wouldn't think of them as tropes, because they aren't meant to be tropes.

Since the merge is done and the wicks migrated, is there anything left that needs to be done?

So, is the lack of work examples considered acceptable?

I think so, yeah. It's a pervasive enough thing that I'm not sure what the value of listing examples would be.

This page's use is as a primer for non-US people to understand how US currency works when they see it in media. I agree that listing every time US currency shows up in a work is utterly useless. Way too ubiquitous.

Where are we on fixing this?

I think we're done. Prfnoff went and did all the actual work of harvesting the good bits from UsefulNotes.American Currency and sticking them in UsefulNotes.American Money, then making the former a redirect to the later and changing all the wicks. Thanks, Prfnoff!

OK, I'll close this then.
