We probably have enough to run a crowner at this point.
That's my main objection to the Charmander pic. The Negima comparison, with the dates and possibly the chapters either somewhere in the pic or noted in the caption fit better for me.
I'm fine with any suggestion as long as the post number has a 1 and a 2 in it and no more numbers. With improvement from 24.
By the way, would it be less of an example if, say, a webcomic artist first does the work by hand on paper, and then switches to fully computer drawn, resulting in a different style?

Check out my fanfiction!Switching from hand drawn or by hand special effects to CG would be a side trope IMO.
Anyway manga artist Yu Yabuuchi [1] recently tweeted an image showing her art evolution 32 years of drawing manga, she published her first manga at the age of 13, [2]

Does the trope cover artists rather than just singular works? If so it's a pretty good image.
By the way, the trope description includes the line, "...and/or different animating equipment." To me that suggests that switching to CG would still fall into the trope. The trope isn't just about skill; it's also about techniques and tools used.
Check out my fanfiction! Then this might need a repair shop. IMO switching tools is something completely different than an artist's natural art evolution over a time span. An artist's drawing style evolves naturally over time, a majority of the time it is very much unintended or just going with the flow of trends like how Anime Eyes have slowly evolved over the years. [1]◊[2]◊[3]◊[4]◊
Switching mediums like that is a sudden immediate switch and switching to CG is something broader than just drawn works. Switching to CG tends to actually be a Berserk Button with anime fans in the west.

The trope is about progressive artstyle changes. The technical reasons aren't important.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman30 is a good contender.
I think we'll need a crowner at this point.
Updated Negima suggestion:
Hooked it.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanCan I include my suggestions in the crowner? I forgot how the crowner courtesy goes.
Adding crowner options are usually a free action.

Late to the punch, but here's a suggestion I cooked up.
EDIT: Eeer oops, failed to notice it was for the Anime and Manga sub-section. This is artwork for a video game series (Tokimeki Memorial), and there's no pic for that sub-section, should it go there instead?

"Your kindness gives me the presentiment I can be reborn. Now, I want to believe at least in you." - Kaori YaeOne thing's for sure, we'll have a solid Image Links page for this one.
EDIT: As of this post - three in the green, two with consensus.

Votes bump; four in the green, three with consensus although the Negima pic is still the leader.
I'm adding Keiichi from Ah My Goddess to the crowner.
A little surprised Kuwabara (35.1) is so far down in the ranking, it's a pretty glaring example.
Negima is just too subtle for my tastes.

Moon◊The main reason against - at least, in my opinion - is that the difference is so great that unless told, you wouldn't know they're the same person since there's nothing immediately obvious to tie them together.
The quality also isn't the greatest in that one.
Check out my fanfiction!, Same for me.
Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
12 would make a good image for a trope about animation switching to CG effects not so much this as well charmander is really small and that is where the real art evolution is.
