I edited my character sheet a little. The changes are pretty minor, but if anyone cares they can go check.

• Real Name: Sarah Parker
• Superbeing Alias: Nexus
• Alignment: Registered
• Age: 22
• Physical Appearance: Again, I'll post a pic later. She's pretty tall for a lady, standing at a slender 5'11" with slight muscles from her training. She has short black hair and tan skin. Her eyes are stormy grey, but if you look closely you'll see that her pupils are lined with silver. She usually wears clorhing that is understated, yet stylish.
• Personality: Straightforward and serious. Is polite and eloquent when spoken to, though she can be oblivious to other people's feelings. She also has a tendency to not share her thoughts. This combination of habits tends to isolate her. One of her top priorities is the safety of her brother, and she doesn't understand why he avoids her so much.
• Powers: Opening rips in space time that can be used for things like trasportation and slicing physical objects.
• Other Skills: Fairly good marksmanship and some skill with most guns. Handles handguns the best.
• Accessories: M1911 handgun, belt with extra ammo and first aid kit.
• Backstory: Product of the Eldritch Project, though that's a story for another time. From the moment her powers were discovered, great things were expected of Sarah. She recieved much attention, some positive, some negative. After her decision to go into heroism, she trained her powers and body for a couple years. Most of her life was pretty easy for her. Even when the registration act rolled around she took it pretty well.

That changed when her brother was attacked. She couldn't understand why someone would attack her innocent brother, and her previously quiet desire for her brother's safety became stronger. She also silently cursed her own weakness at being unable to apprehend the person who took Justin's arm.

Forgive me if I come off as a backseat GM, but what are the limits of this power? It seems ripe with game breaking potential.

Hm... Good point. Daydre, what's the size limit on the objects you can slice, and how big are your spacetime rips?

Hm, the size limit for portals is about six feet tall and five feet wide. Making portals that are further away is more effort, and she has to know the place. She could theoretically open a portal to, say, another continent if she wanted but that would completely drain her.

Is that enough, or is there something else I should clarify?

• Real Name: Luke Dorn
• Superbeing Alias: Brawler
• Alignment: Not Registered (Chaotic Good, if it matters)
• Age: 28
• Physical Appearance: Civvie look: Like so.◊ When fighting crime, Luke dons a suit of motocross armour under his jacket and throws a mask over the bottom half of his face.
• Personality: Luke firmly believes that the best way to deal with crime, whether it be cackling megalomaniacs or petty thieves, is to beat the everliving daylights out of the perpetrator and hope that they learn their lesson. This "attack first and don't bother asking questions" attitude has gotten Brawler's arse handed to him on a number of occasions, but even then the man simply refuses to give up, no matter the odds. The reason behind this is that Luke will simply do whatever he can to make sure that Megalopolis stays a good place and is more than willing to put his life on the line to protect those who cannot protect themselves. When not fighting crime, Luke is quite simply a calm and friendly man who'll do what he can to help out anyone that asks.
• Powers:
  • Regeneration: Though not incredibly powerful, Luke is quite capable of healing most non-life threatening wounds over a very short period of time. Wounds such as high-caliber gunshots and missing limbs, will require immediate medical attention, if only to ensure that Luke doesn't bleed out before the wounds heal. This power also has the convenient side effect of rendering most non-superpowered unarmed strikes as borderline harmless, as well as giving Luke something of a higher pain tolerance level.
• Other Skills:
  • Though not superhumanly so, Luke is pretty strong for a human (to put it into perspective, Luke can lift an average sized human above his head with little difficulty).
  • Not a practitioner of any particular martial art, Luke simply uses a brutal combination of hard-hitting moves to take his foes down.
• Accessories:
  • Two sets of brass knuckles
  • A suit of motocross armour
  • A number of heavy duty, solid wood baseball bats.
• Backstory:
  • For the most part, Luke has no clue what gave him his regenerative abilities, but has been vaguely aware that most injuries don't stay around for a terribly long time since he was fairly young. Despite his powers, Luke never really considered becoming a superhero until a little after he moved to Megalopolis wherein he really started to notice the world around him and how it was really shitty to some people. Deciding that the only feasible way to fix the city around him was to beat the crap out those making Megalopolis a worse place, Luke took up the name Brawler and began taking on street-level criminals whenever he could.
  • When the Superhuman registration act came into effect, Luke simply didn't bother signing up as he didn't really believe that a street-level vigilante such as himself really warranted becoming a Government agent. Only time will tell if this choice will come back to bite Luke in the future.

Hm... Thinking more about it, I'm not sure if her power-set will really work. For example, say that you and some fellow Supers were trapped in a force-field, with seemingly no way to get out. All you'd have to do is use your teleport ability, and you and everyone else is out in just a few trips. On top of that, say that missile is coming down from out of the sky; you could either teleport it, or just slice it in half, with both options solving the situation ridiculously easily. You could even slice robots in half without much effort.

How about this: After you teleport or slice something, you need to wait a good minute before you can do it again. This way, your abilities still have a lot of power, but they aren't as prone to potential abuse. Does that work for you?

Accepted. Just make sure that you don't heal from any serious injuries during a fight, though I think you've already got that covered. The only problem now is finding a spot for you to jump in. You could wander into the tunnel in the square, I suppose. Do you need a recap?

Sounds fine by me. I think I should also add that momentum still applies when going through the portals.

Edit: Uh, is it too unbalanced if I change it so that the size has no limit, but bigger portals take much more energy to make?

Right. Let's see here...

So, there are two main plot-threads happening right now. One is at a warehouse, which is actually home to an experimental reactor courtesy of HAMMER. Also, the warehouse itself is, as has been asked, in a warehouse district; what better way to hide such a dangerous device than in plain sight?

Anyway, a corrupt and wealthy businessman, going by the alias of Sisyphus, tried to take the reactor for himself using a pack of thugs and a man in Powered Armour by the name of Boulder. However, one of the thugs ended up inadvertently ratting out the others, and a superhuman squad was sent in to deal with them. By now, they've all been mopped up and captured, including Sisyphus, who was near the scene of the crime.

However, things got more complicated. A thief by the name of Monsieur Mirage who happens to be able to phase through objects (think Kitty Pryde,) ended up wandering into the warehouse; phasing beneath it, he found the reactor, and likely intended to steal it until the lead scientist found him out with a scanner that detects phasers. (Also, the lead scientist is, in all likelyhood, a Nazi. Just an FYI.) Upon this discovery, Mirage decided that the lead scientist was indeed a stinking Nazi who shouldn't be allowed to live and, having taken on the guise of a Frenchman, has attempted to drop the reactor on him for his presumed crimes against the French. Like you do.

As for the other plot-line, a gigantic mechanical rattle-snake burroughed out of the earth in Park Square. A group of non-registered heroes managed to beat it up before it mysteriously vanished. Investigating the tunnel, they found a couple of reactors in there, but were unable to determine just what they were for before the a group of assailants in Powered Armour attacked them. Two of them attempted to phase into the earth before being short-circuited by one of the heroes, Wildcard, while the other vanished into thin air. However, that doesn't mean our heroes are out of the woods yet; for one thing, the Police are coming, which doesn't help matters, but that might not be all they have to deal with...

What sort of mood are you going for here, exactly? Saturday Morning Superman-esque? Asking cuz one hero idea I have might be a bit silly.

Not really. It's generally serious, but there's still moments of levity. It's like your average well-written action movie, basically.

In any case, why don't you just type up your character, and we'll see whether or not it works?

• Real Name: Jason Druford
• Superbeing Alias: Flame Knight
• Allignment: Registered
• Age: 18
• Physical Appearance: Jason is essentially a young man who is somewhere between a Pretty Boy and a more hunkish individual – he's got the effeminate “troubled one from a boyband” facial features, but he's also quite muscular, and its very apparent he's not exactly a nobody without his powers. He has light brown hair and very innocent blue eyes. He mostly wears a grey t-shirt, jeans and sneaker shoes. His Superhero Costume is a red knight's armor, with a visor over the eyes, and a red cape on the back.
• Personality: Jason is, fundamentally, the “good boy next door” - even though he's troubled under the surface, he doesn't let it get him down at the very least visibly. He's optimistic and a team player, enjoying interacting with his fellow heroes, though some of their attitudes trouble him. He's also basically a "Well Done, Son" Guy, seeking parental approval for his actions as a hero, though its apparent they're stringent about this. Jason seems to get frustrated with how often his fellow government heroes end up assisting rich people, and in general dislikes people further up in the economic brackets. He is prone to bad judgment when intense feelings and emotions are involved, and his attempts to do certain things can backfire due to his lack of foresight.
• Powers: Jason has power over fire, specifically, very intense fire. For character related reasons, he cannot turn his temperature down once he starts making fire. He can do anything from making fireballs to making highly compressed streams of fire that explode violently on opponents. He can even melt stone and alter the landscape. His power armor is not Iron Man-level, but it does function to protect him.
• Other Skills: He is an accomplished martial artist, having taken the initiative to learn karate and judo on his own time.
• Accessories: Jason has a peculiar sword on his person called Cladfwich, which has no apparent blade. Instead, it is a machine that siphons certain chemicals from the air into a stream. Jason can then set this stream on fire, resulting in a sword made of fire.
• Backstory: Jason comes from a very, very conservatively religious family, who put him into the “Knights of Prayer” registered hero group when he demonstrated his ability, which they specifically say “its not magic, its God's Gift to him”. Jason just seems frustrated with them over this. His father has tried to set several “lessons” in place to young Jason, mostly related to his relation to the rich. They've mostly had the opposite effect as what was intended. Jason has recently started chaffing under the weight of his connection to the Knights, and some of their less savory attitudes and behaviors.

Age: 64

Physical appearance: Dwayne is a tan tall skinny man with bleach blonde hair and mustache. He wears sweater vests and when he becomes Doc Time he adds a monocle and bowler hat.

Personality: Dwayne is a kind old man who jokes all the time never taking anything serious. As Doc Time this is multiplied as he tap dances and sings in the face of danger .

Powers: Dwayne has the power over time. He can freeze it for a short amount of time. Also can't go to the past or future unless it is only for one day back or one day forward.

Other abilities: He has trained in many martial arts and he wields a cane.

Backstory: Dwayne had a good life until his wive died when he was 42. After that he was a broken man until he bought a stopwatch that allowed Dwayne time based abilities. He became Doc Time to make sure no one has to loose what he loosed.

Miscellaneous: A metal cane and a stopwatch that grants him his powers
