Remember when I said there are a few secrets you all haven't discovered yet?

I'll give you a clue: someone made a deal behind the back of their biggest ally.

Hmm, while I could still probably work with this and it does make the story more then Kuvira walks face first into a trap and dies, you have to admit that a sudden power boost of this magnitude without anything previous to lay the ground work for it is a bit hard to swallow.

I'm (again) finding myself in agreement, this is raising a number of questions the more I think about it, not the least of which is "If she could do this, why didn't she do this 10 minutes ago when she was in a fight"? Looking back over the posts, I've seen no indication at all that anything about her's changed drastically enough in that small time frame to justify this massive power boost. I'm all for throwing in unknown elements and surprises and such, that's cool. Keeps the game fresh. But this doesn't feel at all fair here, and I'll freely admit i'd probably also be somewhat annoyed if I was on the receiving end of something like that last post with zero warning.

Well, that was the intention. Getting Jeane to think 'yeah I could probably win this easily' was part of the plan. If your plan was to kill the chunk leader in the first place whilst making sure you look like a good guy, what is the smartest idea: march in and reveal all your cards on the first round and basically let the enemy know everything you can do so he or she can prepare accordingly... or act as if you don't know how to play the game, get the enemy to have a super confidence boost and practically stroll into your line of fire so you can use your ace in the hole and get away scot free?

Tricking a RP character is always a game of trying to trick the player as well. Because even the best players will subtly alter their moves if they know their characters are heading into a trap: they're trying to defend their beloved creations, it's understandable. In terms of big reveals, I only let out clues if the character is actively trying to find them or if his passive abilities will let him or her find it (say, you have a super nose and you can see that person doesn't notice her) or if it's something impossible to not notice.

So could have Jeane or Axton noticed Kuvira's inhuman nature? Because, yes, spoiler alert, she's not human, might not even be Kuvira all things considered, but none of the two were actively looking for it in the first place. They had the image of an invader right in front of them and they noticed 'oh my god this woman is under prepared to hell' and they bought it. Even my immediate family bought it. There was one thing you all could have done to notice her ace in the sleeve, and that was injuring her, but (and I've doublechecked here) it didn't happen, so can you blame me for not doing that?

That being said, all she has shown so far is speed. My point is Jeane will probably have to do a smart move to hit her. I did point out her soldiers were as surprised as Jeane was, which means you already have a way of winning that doesn't involve killing her: finding out what she can do and then outing her in front of her soldiers.

Although I do hope I didn't drive anyone away with this tiny bit of trickery. 'Kuvira' having superhuman abilities was part of the plan all along, since it fits in my idea of making it so each continent has one Big Bad— And Zaofu is not the Eastern Continent's Big Bad.

-walks into chat with inexplicable Hawaiian leis around neck-

What's happenin' party people! Guess who's back.

I've actually been back for a week or so, but the combination jet lag/sleep debt has kept me out-of-whack enough that I couldn't quite muster the writing chops this RP needs. I think I'm just about back up to snuff, and will be jumping back in soon.

I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed that not a single chunk was razed to the ground while I was gone. tongue I choose to believe that San Fransokyo used their comic book science to transport themselves back to their world, taking Gilgamesh Cruiser along for the ride, and planned to come back were it not for the Cure's power blocking them.

Lemurian, where would you like the negotiations to be? I figure we can get back into things with the relevant parties taking a breather.

If I had that kind of power, I'd have dropped a meteor on your house ages ago~

There goes Kuvira on her high horse again. Out of curiosity, do you actually believe that stuff? Funny enough, if you wanted to play the hero in the conflict, I could have been the villain. But Kuvira went so far down that path that the crazy assassins can't help but look justified in comparison.

Did you want to decide a victor now? It would help me with the direction I should be taking my posts. We could try to feel it out, usually with an rp fight you test things out until a player can press an advantage, but this fight started out completely lob sided.

Literally almost anything from any continuity of Transformers shows up in Animated to some degree. It's not a major leap to make in terms of headcanons.

@ strat: Ok then, I feel I should call check.

Jumping was actually a really bad idea, especially a high jump. It puts Kuvira in a fixed and predictable flight pattern, unless she some how got the ability to fly as well. Her time in the circus will probably allow her to adjust her balance to do flips and the such maybe, but not enough to counter act the forward momentum. Her feet no longer on the ground, she just gave up her strongest advantage, her new speed and the ability to quickly change direction and dodge. Even her forward speed gets its limitations, since if she tried to go out full speed she will probably just end up flying into the crowd. Against a bigger opponent, you could try to use their mass to absorb the impact, but Jeane not that big and a martial artist who probably knows how to roll with a hit. Even if you connect your kick, at a high speed you will still just fly into the crowd. At slower speed, you are just a sitting duck in the air.

Mind elaborating in her jump kick? It may decide the direction of the match, so I would like a clear indication of what I am dealing with.

@ udtheimp: While definitely an interesting development, the problem is when the switch could have occurred. Kuvira in Santa Destroy had been using metal bending all the way into the room which I don't think the other person can. Then from the room, the Kuvira had been closely watched so a switch out seems highly unlikely from there to the match. The whole thing admittedly stinks of retconning, but I figured what the hell and let it play out. But now I realized I have been accommodating Kuvira for over a month...

I mean, I can change the target of the jump kick from Jeane's face to her chest, would that help? It would change it from a high to a low jump.

I think the crux of the issue comes down to Kuvira engaging Jeane in this extended moral beatdown that Immortal Neet doesn't think she deserves. While it is true that introducing a moral backing to a given fight increases how interesting and meaningful it is, this particular scenario has been viewed by every single person involved—OC and IC—as a self-aggrandizing tyrant so convinced of her own superiority and benevolence that she is completely unwilling to see any mistake of her own as something she needs to accommodate. This would be fine, under some circumstances. But the way the narrative is shaped, it almost seems like you, Stratofarious, believe it too. Immortal Neet feels as though they have exercised every method they can think of in terms of pointing out Kuvira's hypocrisy from an in-character standpoint, and is frustrated that every response to Jeane's verbal beatdowns is a smug grin and a restatement of the same points in slightly different words.

If you do believe that Jeane is in the wrong, it might be better if you worked with Immortal Neet to come up with an end game to the current battle that doesn't result in Santa Destroy getting into a supremely unfun-to-play war that Immortal Neet doesn't feel they have enough dramatic collateral to participate in, fearing it would be however many posts of "stop making me kill you" followed by "no" on a national scale. That's both not fun, and a little tedious.

If you believe that Kuvira is in the wrong, give us some kind of way to overcome her other than everything we've tried so far. Maybe have some of the soldiers go "You know, I loved my brothers too, but maybe our actions were a little whack." Possibly give some kind of external indication that Kuvira is literally insane or possessed, giving the surrounding people a plausible reason to debunk her constant restated points or beat the tar out of her. Maybe have whoever Kuvira is allied with come out of nowhere and go "This is really counterproductive. Maybe you should go bury your dead while you have the chance."

At the rate its going, this conflict looks like it will leave no one happy. Playing wars is only fun if everyone involved can milk the conflict for character drama, and playing the "I don't want to kill these people but I have to" card over and over again is exhausting both for the character and player. I don't want this game to die because of a misunderstanding.

@Jorgan: Sure. After Lemurian lets me know what's going on with the negotiations, we can get right on that.

If I had that kind of power, I'd have dropped a meteor on your house ages ago~
