First image is better than the third, second gives me a nice image of Johnny Depp's face.
1.1 is good. 1.2 seems to be pointing to the article in a wrong way.

As long as 1.1 looks good at wiki size, I'm down for it.
Here's a suggestion of mine, taken from Wendy Pini's children's story "A Gift Of Her Own." I think it's pretty good too, although I'd be interested in the opinions of others.
Edit: I made it wiki-sized (350px width) so that it can be properly evaluated.

Honestly, I find the current more pixelated than artifacted. That said, there are others I prefer anyway. And of those, 8.4 over 8.3. Which is also good.
