"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."I thought that was the Battletoads logo for a second in the Japanese video.
Also, I wasn't expecting two Super Famicom titles.
Help me. I can't get it out of my head.Give us Donkey Kong '94, damn it!
At this point I'm just waiting for Wario Land 4 and SimCity.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! This reminded me of a conversation I had with my friends a while ago, about how the Switch doesn't really have an original IP to call its own.
You have, what, Ring Fit Adventure as the sole standout game? After that it's a massive drop to stuff like ARMS, Astral Chain, and the Labo stuff. Don't get me wrong, I liked Astral Chain, but I can't remember the last time I heard someone mention it out of the blue.
That is the Battletoads logo in the JP video, the JP service gets Battlemaniacs (which the NA service already has) and Marvelous instead of Amazing Hebereke (which the JP service already has).
The Switch doesn't have brand-new Nintendo IPs... if you ignore the ones you just mentioned???

I think it's true less in the sense of "literally no new I Ps" and more "none of the I Ps Introduced on the Switch have left a huge impact on the fanbase."
Ring Fit Adventure, while fairly popular, is still a pretty niche title, and at this point ARMS has been mostly ignored aside from Min-Min being playable in Smash. The Switch doesn't have anything comparable to say, Splatoon.
Reaction Image RepositoryWhat I mean is they're not the first games you think of when you think the Switch. The Wii U had Splatoon. The Wii had Wii Sports, Fit, and Play. The GameCube (debatably) had Pikmin. That kind of thing.
Ring Fit Adventure sold 15 million copies, I don't think that counts as niche at all. What I think RFA is though is not the sort of thing that gets a fanbase who continues talking about it long past its release, meaning its relevancy quickly fades despite the popularity.
ARMS on the other hand is relatively niche. I would guess the main things acting against are its unusual gameplay and its weird premise that I think gets in the way of making character designs people would latch onto.
...not to put too fine a point on it but I'm pretty sure RFA has sold almost as many copies as the entire Metroid franchise combined.

For the longest time, Super Mario Land outsold the entire Metroid franchise. I think that changed with Dread, but I'm not 100% sure.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Wonder if this is going to fuel the next-gen rumors more.
Everything Nintendo does will fuel next-gen rumors right now. The switch is old and people are ready to move on.
Ugh, tell me about it. I have this one... acquaintance is likely the best descriptor, on discord. He'll DM me anytime he hears "news from Nintendo" regarding the next system.
Note that I put "news from Nintendo" in quotes for a reason: because it's never news or from Nintendo (heck, it's not even the leaks they're usually claimed to be), it's the latest made up stuff from the wider internet. For example... back on March 25th, the "news" was that the next system is the "Nintendo Switch Attach", with "dual screen attach" (whatever that is), "better hardware, 60fps per game, wow".
As I put it, I didn't (and still don't) buy that because... "Last time they had a console with a name that was 'previous console name + extra part', it was on life support for the last couple years of its active lifespan. You might have heard of it, it's called the Wii U".
In short, I'm pretty sick and tired of "leaks" regarding the next Nintendo system... because despite me very deliberately avoiding that kind of thing, I apparently have a direct line to it.
Will the transhumanist future have catgirls? Does Japan still exist? Well, there is your answer. — UnknownI'm still surprised that what was almost certainly a mistake made in a YouTube survey gained so much traction.

It's almost like those doomsday predictors (2012 anyone?) who insist that it's totes gonna happen any day now. They'll be right eventually and that's what I think some of these Switch 2 hopefuls are going off of. The rest is massive amounts of copium.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order. It's well known that if you shoot a bullet in every direction, you'll eventually hit your target.
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.They're like the economists who've predicted 100 of the last 2 recessions.
...not to put too fine a point on it but I'm pretty sure RFA has sold almost as many copies as the entire Metroid franchise combined.
Not quite. The total sales of the entire Metroid franchise is 21 million copies. Ring Fit Adventure selling 15 million isn't really that close. That is still less than Super Mario Bros 3 (24 million).
Uhhh, SMB3 sold 17 million copies, not 24 million.
135 - 158 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300It sold 18 million on the NES and 1 million on the Wii VC. It also sold 5 million on the Game Boy Advance, totaling 24 million.
I was discounting Metroid Prime because... well, Nintendo tends to separate it out from the 2D Metroid games. Metroid Prime 1/2/3 have sold roughly 6M between the original releases and Trilogy, and Remastered is another 1 million. Meaning yes, RFA has outsold the Metroid games.

Ah. I never fully explored the settings menu.
Help me. I can't get it out of my head.
