I dunno, all I know is the thing that initially drew me into Smash as a kid was less "That looks like a unique take on the fighting genre by Nintendo" and more "Every Nintendo character in the same game, and they fight each other! Sweet!"
Do you really think the Persona cast is as recognizable as Mario and Donkey Kong?
Where there's life, there's hope.Hell, there was a time period where Mario was more recognizable in the US than Mickey Mouse.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! No, but Goku's not too far behind him.
And none of his fighting games are all that big.
I know a ton more people who recognize Mario than Goku. Goku is big, but not THAT big.
Anime in general appeals less to a mass audience compared to say, Comic Books or Video Games.
Then again, Dragon Ball is one of the most prominent Anime and Manga series of all time. It can essentially be the Mario of anime. (not counting Pokemon as that's based off the games. It also doesn't mean that DB is as big as Mario. It simply means that DB is perhaps the biggest anime of all time, like how Mario is the biggest video game series of all time.)
That's why Marvel vs Capcom is way more known than Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.
Mario also has a very cartoony design to it.

You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!People recognize the concept of Goku more than Goku himself.
This song needs more love.It probably doesn't help that there are just so many DBZ fighters released with little gap between them. With so many games out there it's difficult for a single one to get a consistent foothold like Smash does.
I don't know about DBZ fighters' mechanics nor how balanced and varied they are, so no comment there.
"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."Goku is very popular, but he's definitely not up to the level that Mario is. Everyone might know who he is on the internet, since anime knowledge is more common, but outside of that anime in general isn't exactly mainstream.
As for ARMS it looks interesting, yeah, but I'm not exactly super hyped for it. Mainly because I'm not huge on fighting games in general.
Reaction Image RepositorySo I'm still trying to get into the Switch version of Minecraft, but I feel like I'm out of practice. Anyone know if those official Minecraft handbooks are worthwhile (and relevant to the console versions)? I have the basics down, building shelters and simple tools, but I'm kind of not sure where to go from there, plus I somewhat embarrassingly keep losing track of my house when I wander off to explore.
I'd say the Minecraft wiki gives you all the information you should need.
"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."Make a bed in your house. Make a compass. Sleep in your bed. Your compass will now point to your bed. The complete list of all craftable items can be found here and, if you scroll up a tiny bit, you can get some information on the crafting system available to you.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! All the games I missed on Steam will find their place in my Switch. Yesss.

And some of them have new stuff added too, like Stardew Valley.
I'd like some advice. Next weekend I'm going out of town for Memorial Day, so naturally I'm bringing the Switch along, which makes this my first real time testing it as a true portable console away from home for an extended period.
Of course I'm going to need to bring along a charger, and since I'm not really planning on bringing along the entire dock, that leaves me two options. I could simply unplug the AC adapter that came with the console from the dock and bring that with me, or the USB-C cable that came with the pro controller works too if you plug the other end of it into a standard smartphone USB to wall charger plug. That would seem to be the smarter option since I'll have the wall plug for my phone anyway and an extra USB cable is way more portable than the AC adapter brick, but I've heard those plugs may not charge the system as quickly, or at all in some cases if you're playing a game at the same time.
I dunno, what do you guys think? If anyone here has brought their Switch with them on vacation or something, how have you managed charging it?
I don't know the answer but here's what you do: Take your Switch off charge and let the battery run down to, oh, 50%. Plug it up to your adapter, make sure the auto-sleep is turned off (fiddle with it everyone now and then if you can't do that), and leave a game running for about an hour. Check the battery life and see if it changed and how so if it did.
Then you'll have your answer.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!If you have anything else that needs to be charged, just take that into account, because your AC-to-USB thingy surely has limited slots and not all of the slots may be 2 amps.
I'll go test how long mine charges on 5V 2A. I'll pay mario kart for a while...
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes! It's just the standard one that comes with the iPhone. It's only got one USB plug, but I have at least two I can bring.
Sorry to double post, but I may have an answer to my own question. I just played a couple rounds of online Mario Kart while plugged in with the USB cable and wall charger, and my battery actually went down a percentage point. Seems that method is only an option for charging in sleep mode.
With Disgaea 5 on the way to the shelves, it might be time to get my own Switch at last :V
Have they improved the build quality of the latest shipped batches? No more 'Day One Horrors'?
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!I've had no problems out of my Switch and I haven't heard of any problems as of late.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Even my two-weeks-after-launch Switch only experienced some occasional left Joycon desync, and even that issue has died down.
Mine very very very rarely froze on the Home screen when I tried loading up a game, but I think that might just be a general issue with operating software getting hickups now and then. I assume that might've been patched out already.
Haven't had any other issues so far

Re: Smash and Melee
Melee's huge success was probably helped a lot by it being released about a month after the GameCube launched in the US (giving it time to cultivate sales and a fanbase) and being very approachable for a fighting game.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?
