When you meet someone who's slightly out-there, and want to add them to your novel.
When you write every day, even if you know it's going to be terrible.
When you start using TV Tropes for inspiration.
please call me "XionKuriyama" or some variation, thanks! | What is the good deed that you can do right now? When you "act out" scenes from your novel and jot them down in a notebook.
When you constantly think about ideas for your novel.
When you make lyrics for a song that didn't have lyrics to it.
"Thanks for the lesson. But I don't need you to tell me who I am."When you work on your writing while out at a tavern.
I smell magic in the air. Or maybe barbecue. When you wake up in the middle of the night and don't try to go back to sleep right away because you want to jot down an idea for a story. Or a chapter. Or three chapters.
When every jog and shower consistently gives you another idea for your story.
Stoned hippie without the stoned. Or the hippie. My AO3 Page, grab a chair and relax. When you buy a specific make and model of cell phone (or any other piece of equipment) because it's the sort of thing your MC would use and you want to familiarise yourself with it.
Bonus points if it's an older model because that suits the time period of your MC.
Additional bonus points for each time you do this...
You watch shows/listen to music your MC would like, even though you yourself don't like it.
Project progress: The Adroan (102k words), The Pigeon Witch, (40k). Done but in need of reworking: Yume Hime, (50k)- You know your hooked on writing when, you are watching a movie and on your way to get a drink midway through you pull out a notepad and write a paragraph on the spot for your story.
- You know your hooked on writing when, you pull out a notepad on the bus and keep it onhand incase you get inspiration while traveling adn desprately dont want to forget to write it down.
- You know your hooked on wriitng when, you hear someones name and immediately consider that for a character and how the readers would interpret a character with that name. (Also somewhat a que from my psychology classes :p)

"After time adrift among open stars, along tides of light and through shoals of dust, I will return to where I began."- You associate specific songs (and/or poems) with your characters
- You've gotten upset thinking of scenarios where you characters die/get seriously hurt
- You have multiple name meaning/baby name websites bookmarked
- You've fleshed out your characters to the point you know the position they sleep in, how they take their coffee and their favorite pair of underwear
You have detailed equipment/possession lists for each of your characters, including images and/or web links if necessary and know not only what your characters have in their pockets at any given times, but what apps and M P3s they have on their phones (if applicable).
You have conversations with, and between, your characters on the way to and from work/school and on your breaks.
You start consuming media out of your genre because you think it might help diversify your breadth of cultural knowledge, which greatly helps in worldbuilding. This may include music, books and works of art.

You calculate the area of your cyberpunk city in order to work out the number of people needed to achieve a realistic population density.
Gotta have a lot of people to get a nice skyline of high-rise buildings.
Standing on the edge of the crater...When you keep slamming your head against the wall trying to get something written, even though you have absolutely no stories to tell, nor any idea how characterization works.
Might as well start one of these. Put down any signs that you think might indicate you're crazier about writing than you thought.
Here's mine:
You know you're hooked on writing when you see someone on the street and think to yourself, "He/she could make a really cool character."
