This isn't meant to be critical or anything, I understand that tropers have a lot to do, many things on their plate. I know I can't do everything.
But it bears mentioning that there's 54 Final Action threads in TRS, some of which had their last update in March of 2014. It would probably would help the moderators if we get the backlog of work completed.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Indeed. TRS is getting unwieldy again. Fix the stuff that's in there and we can talk about opening new topics.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Yeah. I am not warm with opening more threads until people start working on the old ones.
Also, I note, a lot of the unopened threads have poorly presented arguments.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWell if we aren't going to be opening threads in the near future maybe we could block the "create a new conversation" option.
BTW, not sure the hostile tone in post #2 was necessary. Dozens and dozens of threads are piling up in TRS. This is something that needs to be fixed, right?

Are you suggesting going back to the days of the thread cap? Because having mods approve threads was supposed to make that unnecessary. It sounds like we're going back to letting old threads fester for a while in the absence of a cap and the mods are using their control over TRS throughput to attempt to achieve the same effect as a cap, except it's not clear that's what's going on.
More people want to work on the input side than the output side. Changing the mechanism for accepting new threads isn't going to have any effect on that. Maybe we need a pinned thread in TRS to make status announcements.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I tried to imitate the wording of post #1, so if you read a hostile tone in it, then I'd say it was fair to claim your post was also hostile. I was holding up a mirror to your complaint.
The "fix" that TRS needs right now is tropers finishing the projects that have been decided. 22 sounds like a lot, but I don't feel like the number is significant unless the unopened threads outnumber the final action threads by 2:1. Right now it's the other way around, so I think we are more to blame than the moderators.
The new system was intended to give the mods more control over which threads were open at any given time, not just the number of said open threads. The only flaw I've seen so far is that not every thread opened/closed has a moderator as a second post explaining why it was opened/closed. I didn't even guess that would be a flaw ahead of time.
During the 100 threads cap, I had a personal rule about getting two FA threads cleaned before opening a new TRS of my own.

But I thought it bears mentioning that there are 22 unopened threads at the Trope Repair Shop, some of which date back to December 2014. Probably some of them could either get opened or sent to the Morgue.
