I watched the first episode of Yatterman (2008) so that I could get a feel for the original and maybe understand some of the mythology nods.
The original Yatterman, Gan-chan and Ai-chan, were (I think?) a couple who worked at a toy shop and built robots. Their sidekicks included a humanoid, robotic die who often gave Gan-chan advice, and a very large mecha-dog who was very affectionate towards Ai-chan. After blowing up the Doronbo gang's mech and sending them flying, Gan and Ai made a funky victory pose, which I assume they'll do after every victory. It may be worth noting that they both wore matching yellow pendants.
Anyways, the climax of this series' Episode 3 was just incredible and I'm not even going to question how they built that bomb mech so fast. These guys are basically like Team Rocket except they get things done right.
There's something insignificant written here, but because it's insignificant, you didn't read it.From the sound of things, this series is for all the people who wanted Team Rocket to win.
That alone has incredible appeal.
One Strip! One Strip!Mmm, most intriguing. My only experience with the Yatterman series was playing as the guy, gal, and the goons in Tatsunoko Vs Capcom. And these new guys are like Team Rocket, but are good guys and not complete dumbasses? I dig.
When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your griefYou may want to see the first ep of the original series too; you can find it on animesols.
I get the impression that for many viewers, the Doronbos were the real protagonists of Yatterman.
Episode 4 is out.
Don't be fooled by the title.
banzai, banzai
RealidadeThis show is fun. Reminds me of all the good old shows I used to watch :D
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!I like the whacky-mech-of-the-week setup.
Though I have to wonder whether or not imminent failure will be something that our heroes will have to put up with in every episode.
There's something insignificant written here, but because it's insignificant, you didn't read it.Ep 5!
I guess we needed a silly comedy episode.
For all the silly humor, this show is great at giving me feels.

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Neat, the gang actually dominated the Yatter-mechs! But they still ended up getting blown up at the end. Oh well, all's well that ends well.
I'm subscribing to the theory that Galina and Allouette are going to be the rightful heirs to the Yatter Kingdom—if they manage to overthrow them.
There's something insignificant written here, but because it's insignificant, you didn't read it.I have this horrible feeling that this show is going to end with the main characters all dying. Given their whole premise as heirs to villains who never win, I'm not sure they CAN win.
Also, Gatchan's dice thing is disturbingly similar to how Two Face acts.
I think we're in for a happy ending. Gatchan rolled a six, and they actually managed to not get blown up this time! Bless your souls for cleverly utilizing that pitfall trap.
More on Episode 6: Doronjo isn't too useful in combat or on her own, but she's got the heart and the gumption to be their leader. And her pals continue to be the best. Fantastic episode.
Based on the ED and what was in the episode, Redhead commander is pretty much confirmed to be Allouete's dad, parental figure, or someone who was really important to her.
There's something insignificant written here, but because it's insignificant, you didn't read it.The dog, though...
Dressed to Kill. And here I was thinking Goro was some sort of evil Casshern descendant.
fully expecting him to die in front of his daughter, and she opens her eyes and sees him.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Well I think that at the end the Doronbo will win and Leopard's faith in Galina/Yatterman restored and when they team up for the final battle they will have an epic name of the moon speech and it will be awesome.
Let's be honest Galina being the true Yatterman is about as much of a spoiler as Sheik being Zelda in Hyrule warriors.
And for more expyness let's take a look at the cast of Megaman Doronjo.
Leopard is both Zero as the hero, team dad, and inspiration. And Ciel for being the leader, messianic archetype, and moe. They are also blondes with long hair.
Voltkatze is Cerveau the tech expert and probably has Homura Akemi's old time stop shield hidden somewhere because its the only conceivable way the man can pull off such impossible preparations so quickly.
Elephantus is a nicer Hibou. He is strong and big.
Dorothy is Iris. An inspirational figure for Leopard and her death is a major component of what she is now as well as being a genuinely nice girl. Dorothy of course is much more stable by virtue of not being an experiment in replicating X without that pesky 30 year diagnostic test to make sure she doesn't go kill all humans.
Galina is Megaman X. The timid and pacifist exiled king whose kingdom has been usurped by violent crazies and pretty much did jack shit before the hero shows up.
Allouette is well... Allouette. The chick and all around nice girl. And let's face it Allouette grew up good if ZX is any indication.
Yatterman-sama is Copy X. A sociopathic villain posing as a beloved hero and probably some Omega and Dr. Weil thrown in for good measure.
Goro is a fusion of Fefnir with his power, blood knight mindset, and Harpuia. Loyalty, overzealousness to a tragic fault.
Coincidentally Not-Friender is his Aztec Falcon.
The Yatterbots are the Pantheon and the surprise mecha are the Mutos reploids.
Dokurobei is Dr. Weil the one responsible for wrecking the world, turning Yatter Arcadia into hell, and at least the bigger bad in the series.
Yatter kingdom is Neo Arcadia ergo Yatter Arcadia.
Rockman Yatter?
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Would it have a remix of Mega Man 2's Wily Castle theme?
I think it would have a remix of Air Man's stage. I can't beat Yatterman.
Would anyone care to explain to me what all these Megaman allusions mean? Is this based off a game in the franchise or some sort of anime spinoff?
Every time I try to look up stuff from the Megaman franchise, there's always so much stuff in it that I keep getting lost.
I'm still trying to figure out exactly which game is compatible with the SNES, for crying out loud.
There's something insignificant written here, but because it's insignificant, you didn't read it.Yatterman and the greater Time Bokan franchise has nothing to do with Megaman/Rockman, this show's plot just strongly resembles Megaman Zero's
Megaman just happens to take a lot of influence from Tatsunoko as a whole ( Megaman himself is inspired by Casshern with Rush being friender).
Watch SymphogearEverything in Japan takes a lot of influence from Tatsunoko. They invented at least half the tropes related to Japanese entertainment.
Also the Megaman games that work for the SNES are Megaman X 1 thru 3, Megaman 7, and Megaman Soccer. And Rockman and Forte in Japan.
So since Episode 3 is out, I thought we would make a thread for the series where Dick Dastardly's honest grandson tries to compete in the Wacky Races, finds the whole thing is rigged, and decides to get even.
That's not actually what Yoru No Yatterman is about, but I'd say it gives you an idea of what it's like.
So back to episode 3. The premise of the series is a reversal, where the Doronbow are heroes and the Yattermen are villains. Now we get another kind of reversal where stand-ins for the Yattermen are now working with the Doronbows...to fight the Yattermen.
Also, they weaponized Team Rocket is Blasting off Again.
