I name my skells after various stuff I like. Sometimes I use the first thing that pops into my head like how I called my Ares 90 "DESTROYAH!" because I was on an AVGN binge before getting it.

I name my Skells whatever comes to mind.

Like my Ares 90, Deus Rex.

I'll be honest, I usually just go for the core model name.

They're all pretty good names for mechs like them.

I used the names of planets and stars. Sometimes constellations.

I had the Eertd and the Hgg. Many years ago I just randomly hit my hands on a keyboard to see what I'd get and those two "words" stuck out for some reason.

"Urr-ti-dh" and "Hig" are the official pronunciations.

What other game tips would you give to newer players, or what kind of advice do you wish you could have given yourself when you first played this game? I'm already making a second tips video on morale, weather conditions, directional attacks, Frontiernav survey, the three human Arms Manufacturers, field skills and treasure spots, getting past powerful enemies via Ghostwalker/Ghost Factory, and the lack of fall damage. I also plan on doing one about Overdrive and Skells once I get to that part in the game again.

Melee and ranged combos. I realize I still don't really know how they work.

When arts have effects after a ranged/melee combo, that means they should be used after the corresponding art.

For example, Zero Zero should be used after a melee art such as Tornado Blade for a melee combo. Using Executioner after Zero Zero would be a ranged combo. Chaining all of my damage arts together in combos like that proved pretty useful.

Not to mention Balance Breaker for melee combos.

As far as I'm concerned, you just have to use a melee weapon art to trigger a melee combo, and vice versa. Plus it's a good way to initiate a soul voice for morale's sake (handy for things like Decoy Round and True Stream Edge).

Both the art's type and the weapon's seem to count- There's no yellow arts for melee weapons, but Assualt Rifles and Psycho Launchers have some orange arts that seem to count for both.

Alright. I took on the Joker Tyrant, using those Insectoid Slayer Augments like others have suggested.

Phew. You guys weren't kidding when you said it helped. My guys are really jumping in terms of levels now. At this point, only Mia and Boze are still under level 50 and I'll take care of Boze soon enough.

Mia, I'll save for later like I was told to. Not Exp augments either.

So soon enough, I'll get a 4th Level 50 Skell and then I'll get ready for Telethia Plume. Gonna enjoy taking my shot at that bitch.

You should be more than ready to at least destroy all its appendages and quit the mission. It's possible to do it with level 30 Skells, though it takes a lot longer.

I'm gonna destroy all the limbs. All the limbs.

Well, ok, I won't. That's apparently a dick move, but still. He'll get his. He'll get his and he'll like it.

Why wouldn't you destroy all the limbs? You get tons of delicious appendage fragments.

I don't think it matters because everyone gets the same rewards anyways. And this is only if you do it multiplayer.

Even then, the appendages aren't global, only its lives are. You should destroy the appendages every time, whether or not you decide to knock its RP down a bit is up to you. Depending on the number of lives taken, you'll get a certain amount of telethia stem cells for crafting gear.

Cool.

Anyway, finally using Mia. I was surprised to find she's Level 46. I could get her up to 50 if I was willing to power grind her via Joker, but I believe I was told not to do that, so I'll take my time.

That being said, I've done most of the quests I could do. I'm not sure how to get her levels up right now. Especially her Affinity Levels.

That reminds me. I gotta check how many hearts I need for her mission...and when it can be done. I think it's post Chapter 12, but I gotta check to be sure.

Why can't you level up Mia?

I can level her up. I'm just not using EXP augments because she's only at Level 3 for her class.

So I'm leaving out EXP augments for her.

Mostly, even though I can do Squad missions and the like, it's gonna be slow going levelling her up in anyway because I've done most missions I can do beyond collection missions (and those have suddenly become real hassles).

There are no kill this many enemies missions, or Tyrant slaying missions to do anymore (beyond the ones that are far too high levelled for me to even try).

On a different topic, I've been thinking about it, and rather then buy a fourth Level 50 Skell, I might just beat the game and see about building the Ares 90 for myself (if I have the right materials that is) instead. Feels like it makes more sense to me

You almost certainly do not have the items needed to make an Ares 90

But you can work to get them before you finish the game.

Well, that's something to work towards.

Again, going for the Global Nemesis will go a long way.

Mia's mission requires 3 hearts, but you can get them by the end of the game.

Cool. So I just gotta keep working with her then right?

I can do that. Maybe I'll take her with me for the final chapter.

Once you beat Chapter 12, there will be sets of missions where you can just increase the affinity for your party directly. Not that I had any use for them, seeing as how I'm always prepared.

Cool. Though there are still some heart to hearts I haven't done yet, so I might do those as well.

Mostly just to get them done though.
