... Indeed it does. I'll be damned. Thank you for pointing that out to me!

Moon◊So I just had a thought. I wonder if the Shulk Amiibo will give you the ability to play as Shulk in this game.
I'm not so sure. Nintendo is really pushing the amiibo and it's not like this would be unprecedented. The Fire Emblem amiibo give you the ability to play as those characters in Codename Steam and that's not even the same series.

I don't see why not. I mean, the PC is fully customizable so all the amiibo has to do is make the PC look exactly like Shulk and give you a special weapon that looks like the Monado. That shouldn't be too hard, all things considered. The could also replace your battle quotes with Shulk's.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! That'd be an issue because it's kind of, you know, semi-impossible to get a Shulk amiibo at a decent price. As cool as it would be in theory, back when I considered the idea for X I didn't expect amiibo in general to be so poorly stocked.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaIf they really wanted they could also give you exclusive weapons if you have certain amiibo. Being able to use Link's Master Sword or Samus's Beam Cannon would be a neat addition.
They're evidently doing another print run of Marth just for the people that want to use him in Codename Steam. I wouldn't be surprised if Shulk had something similar. They could even release a special version that comes with the Shulk amiibo. Mario Party 10 has a bundle that comes with the new Mario.

The differences here are
- Mario Party 10 has an entire mode dedicated to amiibo, not to mention a general-purpose Mario line releasing alongside it. It makes more sense for that bundle that XCX being bundled with something that's merely a minor unlock.
- They could reprint Shulk, but as it is he's GameStop exclusive in America. I'm inclined to believe that fact alone would still lead to a poor stock that would swiftly be scalped, unless they took away the exclusivity... and I highly doubt that NoA would do that.
It is possible they could appear in other stores.
My nephew plays Skylanders and Disney Infinity and they always have characters that are exclusive to certain stores but a month later you can find them at other stores.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureI recall reading about amiibo cards they were thinking about introducing so you can still get unlockables without needing to pay as much. This article talks about it.
I wouldn't mind the Shulk amiibo having functionality if a xenoblade card was released for a few dollars.
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome RobI recall another report saying that was just an idea they had instead of being something they'll actually do. I hope they don't do that. One of the main attractions of these things is the figure associated with them.
If so, then wouldn't someone who wants the figure just buy the figure instead?
I'd be more fine with a Monado and etc. unlock if they did that, personally, as much as I want a Shulk on my desktop...
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaGood luck finding half the figures. Scalpers keep buying up all of them and then selling them for two or three times what they're worth on ebay.
Of course, hence me saying above that it'd be nigh impossible to get the Shulk amiibo for some super cool unlock or something. And also why I'd only find the idea favorable if the amiibo card idea ever came into fruition.
I really wish there were laws explicitly against the scalping of any product ever but I feel like such laws would be difficult to write without having chinks and such in themselves... that's probably a discussion for another thread, ah?
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaOr they could just do a combination of reissuing it and bundling it in with the game. As long as they don't screw up and make too few of those getting one should be fairly simple.
I'm worried that because they blundered on supply once, even if a future wave or rerelease were well-stocked it would still sell out relatively quickly as more and more people scalp or jump on the scalp bandwagon.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaFamitsu has a bunch of interesting info. Some choice stuff.
- The player avatar will have voice acting. I personally suspect it will be like Fire Emblem Awakening (grunts and a few lines) and not full voice acting, but we'll see.
- Online stuff is more loosely connected (like Wind Waker HD?).
- More-actiony than Xenoblade.
- More freedom in the world, making it more like a traditional open-world than the original's large, but linear world.
- Mira is 400km², 5 times the size of the first game.
- 4-player parties.
- Takahashi's final play time was around 300 hours. That was likely 100% the game and checking to make sure everything worked, but it looks like this is going to be stupidly big either way.
I'm hyped. Now I just have to try and finish the first before this comes to the west.

More info on Unions. These will probably be where the big, interesting quests come from along with a good chunk of filler quests.
You can also quick travel via the gamepad. Which is great, because constantly pulling up the map to quick travel got annoying in the original.

Holy. Shit.

As if I didn't WANT this game bad enough already...
Woah, that sounds amazing!
It would be quite a thing if we had a Commander Shepard-ish kinda situation here.
"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."
Ah, that's cool.
By the way, I checked it out, his name is Vangarre, not Vandamme. Still, pretty similar, and if they're both Colonels, I'd say it's more than a coincidence.
