Yes, it runs on different (older) parser code than the rest of the wiki. Eddie never considered it worth fixing. I'm sure that the new devs will put it on their list of things to deal with.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"That's been an issue for a long time. I remember bringing it up when Janitor was running the site. But it can be assumed the overhaul will fix it
Well, assuming you know the syntax it shouldn't really be big deal. I never even use the preview.
So, has this been confirmed as something that's going to be getting fixed? I just ran into some issues with it again
Part of the differences are deliberate - unwanted markup that is hidden on wiki pages so that it doesn't annoy the readers is supposed to show up in preview mode so that people who edit can fix it.
Dunno about the question on when it will be fixed.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanClosing this as moot as we have a new previewer now. Further requests go in Query Bugs and Query Wishlist.

There's some weirdness which makes the wiki preview inaccurate, on account of differences between it and the wiki:
-
- Notes are not clickable.
Or is it mainly a different javascript and CSS thing? "And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."striketext still appears struck out instead of outright disappearing
