Basically boils down to Blanka and someone just fight in Brazil.
I mean, did people think M. Bison/Dictator is from Thailand?
I don't think Blanka is an Old Shame though. I mean why is Ono still parading Blanka as his mascot? If it was a shame he wouldn't even use him to troll...
It wouldn't be fair to apply this, but I can see why people would think fighters are from X Country (or representative of such) because their fighting stage is there. And I guess this is why, since SF 3, they don't mention where the stages are at all, and in SF 4 they only mention continents while dropping the stages being linked to characters (though the latter may also be due to the large cast as well).
So Laura's hair... 50% cornrows? Is that the problem? Fortunately it only seems to be a problem on close-up.

Although they don't, characters still are fought in stages set in their home country. Dudley's stage in 3rd Strike is basically Harrod's in London's Knightsbridge area.
Also, if you people are scratching your heads about characters and countries, please refer to here.
I'd rather go with something kinda official like this. Granted, it's a little outdated, but it's still 99% accurate outside of Bison.

Fair point. After all, Honest Trailers said it best: "This is what happens when you dont leave Japan, Japan!"

What? But SF 3 did say where the stages were, at least in Arcade mode.
Heh oh yes. I suppose they do show locations in New Generation and Second Impact.
This is what I get for only playing Third Strike...
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes! However, I consider the use of the word "Japan", as if all japanese people are the same, a little racist.
You claim that God is opressing us, but I see you opressing others without needing a God.Looked at the new fighter. She seems okay, although I'd still prefer to see Sean back.
"Please crush me with your heels Esdeath-sama!By "Japan", they may be just referring to Japanese entertainment (specifically anime and video games) which still has a reputation for throwing around these kinds of wacky stereotypes, though not necessarily out of mean spiritedness.

If that's the case, I don't think people should trust that other people will get the correct interpretation, when a literal interpretations leads them down an entirely different path.
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.Looks like the lastest build of the game is going to be playable at New York Comic Con. I should be able to play it on Thursday and Friday. The weekend is right out, I'm not dealing with those lines.
Laura trailer:
Originally uploaded by Play Station and made public, then made private again (good god, nobody seems to be doing Capcom any favors with Laura this week). I've linked to Maximilian's mirror of the trailer, though.

...i'm starting to get the feeling Laura might know Blanka.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. She's described as using "Matsuda jiu-jitsu" in the description on the original upload and one of her moves is ripped straight from Sean, so they're hinting at some sort of connection with SF3's knock-off shoto. Mom? Sister? Aunt? Cousin?

At the beginning of the trailer I was kind of "meh" on Laura, but by the end I was hyped. That finish was just nuts. So many of these new characters look so fun that I'm going to have a hard time picking one character should I play this game.
On a side note, I really hope the music they're using for these trailers are in the game.
...Did she spend time watching electric eels too?
She looks a lot better than I was expecting. Another attack grappler, eh? Neat. Reminds me of Abel. Also, is it just me or does her projectile(?) vaguely resemble a Shoukoken?

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. Her hair is downright meh-tier, but the rest of her is pretty sweet.
When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your griefYou too, huh?
Aw, I kind of like her hairstyle. It probably helps that one of my Final Fantasy XIV characters sported the same hairstyle.
Moon Bride?
That super....she must have some connection to Blanka.
Moon Bride? I'm not sure what you're referring to...
But I agree with the thought that Laura must have some relation to Blanka. The electric attacks seem more random than usual otherwise.
Moenbryda. Her name translates to Moon Bride from the Roegadyn language. Was that who you meant?
Not really... I just meant that I made a character that had the same hairstyle as Laura in FF 14 (who was an Elezen). If that's an NPC, I'm not aware of her.note

I for one welcome our new Brazilian Empress.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.
Not to mention Blanka may or may not even be from Brazil in the first place.
Edit: Wait that was already mentioned.
