Being better than Bv S is easy

Half the MCU didn't manage it.

[up] Guess much like there Oscar counterparts the Razzy committee also has no idea what they're doing.

And to be clear, I am baiting here.

I believe it, but I'm also baiting.

I dunno, they seem on point to me.

But that's the difference in general. Bv S was actively horrible. Suicide Squad did have me stopping the film to say "this is stupid" repeatedly (since when are the people you knew for less than a day your family El Diablo?) but no part of the film came off as holier-than-thou. Just blind.

Any stupider than willingly putting Kat Dennings in your movie ?

Or any blinder than not realising that making every bad guy a formerly disabled person and every half way sympathetic character able bodied in your movie might be a little... wrong.

Or that maybe you should address that one time a character threw the Hulk at a bunch of civilians ?

[up] IM 3. The mooks are disabled soldiers whose limbs were grown back with Extremis. Badguy Mcforgetable was on crutches in the flashback.

Yes, because in Suicide Squad, half of the dialog and actions made no sense. Why does this person care about this criminal? Why is Waller acting like a moron? Why is Eminem being used?

No one wants to be a fanboy but...ugh. The plot holes were huge.

Hoping for Wonder Woman to be as good Bv S, the best superhero movie of the past 6 years, is probably setting one's self up for disappointment.

Given that you're the only one who believes that, it should be rather easy.

[up][up] Least I wasn't left with the conclusion that the sentinel of liberty hates South Africa.

[up] Don't know how you came to that conclusion. Mine was that Waller was a moron, everyone on the team had Stockholm Syndrome, and the director really wanted to make Guardians of the Galaxy.

[up] ...Because nobody addresses the fact that she tossed the Hulk into a crowd of civilians. The South Africans thing was a bit of a joke.

Oh and on another point, the fact that neither Ross nor that woman bought up the fact that Tony built Ultron indicates that they covered that fact up.

[up][up]Opposite actually. The director wanted the movie to be more serious, and then the studio hastily reshot and edited the movie to make it more "fun" when BVS unexpectedly underperformed.

Speaking of Suicide Squad, Margot Robbie and Gal Gadot both got Critic's Choice Awards nominations last night!

The thing with MCU films is, regardless of what you might think about the messaging and overall quality of the narrative choices they made, they all make basic narrative sense. AOU's problems, such as these unaddressed plot threads and overstuffing, were largely confined to pacing and Fridge Logic.

Suicide Squad on the other hand was a clusterfuck of a straightforward plot rendered incoherent by incompetence, and outside of Deadshot and Diablo, character motivations that often made no sense when they bothered giving them any. BvS's plot was a mess of contradictions not helped by crucial scenes being cut out of the theatrical product. These represent fundamental failures of basic storytelling, which is technical. You can still like them in spite of that or think that it's a minor quibble compared to other aspects, but it's not a matter of "MCU films are catered towards literal babies and Marvelplebs are just too stupid to understand the genius stories of the DCEU" as some people like to strawman it into.

While I disagree with the tone and characterizations of Man of Steel I will give it credit for making basic sense and not throwing the chronology out of whack for no good reason like the other two movies.

[up] Baiting isn't as much fun as i was lead to believe so I'm just going to leave it at two things.

A) I think you're grossly exaggerating.

B) The fridge logic on it's own might not be that bad, but combined with the "M.C.U is fun and optimistic because they GET what superheroing is supposed to be about, and D.C is just edgy, grimderp!" strawman Marvel- Zombies like to trot out it's definetely dulled my enjoyment when it becomes apprent that, it's only nice and fun when you ignore the pretzels the narrative forms trying to maintain that.

"MCU films are catered towards literal babies"

Where the heck did that come from?

DC Bros aren't the alt right.

Also, Bv S' theatrical cut has a mixed score. Yes, the TC that's apparently the worst thing ever made according to hyperbolic internet culture that has even penetrated this site is only a mixed movie. Few reviews are around for the ultimate edition, but they tend to be very positive.

And again, reviews don't matter. They're by no means a determinant of quality, nor are they objective.
