Littlest Pet Shop tries to teach morals? And no, this not a snark as I have never seen Pet Shop.

The only shows I thought that teach morals are anything on PBS (Sesame Street, Arthur, Barney), Veggie Tales, and Friendship is Magic

[up] I know it sounds crazy, but it does. It's far from the central focus of the show, but they do try to incorporate a moral into a lot of the episodes.

They're the dry, basic "Treat your friends right, be yourself" morals, but still morals.

Wonder if anyone will give a holy shit enough to put this on a stream site.

The first five episodes dropped today! Here's the link: http://www.netflix.com/WiMovie/80011539?locale=en-US

If you've watched, what do you think about the show and why?

I liked it.

By the way, the story editor is Mike Nelson. Yes, THAT Mike Nelson.

I knew he had some involvement. That was basically his role on Mystery Science Theater as well, although since that show didn't tell a story very often it was more like "Chief Cat Wrangler" in his own words.

Besides the usual voices of Phil & Mike, Tress Mac Neille and Rob Paulsen are in this too. While Rob only does Ichabezzer (and a few minor roles), Tress voices ALL the female and kid characters! Good thing she has a great vocal range.

Also, I do get a bit of satire from this show. In one episode, Laura is watching a parody of low quality family movies. It gives her the idea if she just DREAMS of getting a home run instead of doing any actual baseball practice, it will come true. Naturally, it doesn't work out that way. I'm reminded of something The Nostalgia Critic said in his A Troll In Central Park review:

Dreams don't happen by just dreaming, you make it happen! The phrase is "Follow your dreams" not "Dream" alone! That makes no sense!

I'm glad they had an episode that taught a lesson like that.

I watched the first half of the first episode as well as little bit of another. It wasn't that bad, but it's just not that entertaining.

I've got an extremely important question for anyone who's watched the episodes... *drumroll*

Does it have Silly Songs With Larry?

Doubt it. I watched a clip of it today, since I have no interest in paying $8 a month for Netflix, and from what I saw, it looks REALLY different. Madam Blueberry no longer sounds like a French mistress, Mr. Ezber(The old looking cucumber) sounds like The 7 D's Grumpy, and the animation... it's just okay.

Saw the first couple minutes of the first episode, the "adopting a puppy" one. This show seems to talk down to children WAAAAAAAY more than the original Veggie Tales, and all the wit and charm has been replaced with slapstick humor. Unless someone brings me good evidence otherwise, I'm gonna go ahead and declare this show an abomination and stain upon the original Veggie Tales, and the Axe Cop guy and whoever else works on it should feel ashamed of themselves for contributing to such an atrocity.

Oh yeah, I always thought that a lot of Phil Vischer's voices sounded like Rob Paulsen voices to begin with, so I found it funny that they got the real Rob Paulsen.

I may not like the Once an Episode singing... At all... But it does have its moments. And most importantly, it's not Bowdlerized. Some of the final episodes of the original series, especially the QUBO run, were just painful.

I'm chalking its current slight awkwardness up to "first-season jitters" right now. I hope I'm not disappointed.

I created a workpage for VeggieTales in the House a few weeks ago. It also a Recap page, but since I don't get Netflix, I'm unable to see the show, so if anyone has Netflix and has seen all of the first 5 episodes would be kind enough to write recaps for the episodes, I would very appreciate it.

How does this spin-off compare to the original I oh-so love.

Off-Topic: I am currently listening to Veggie Tales songs on my Ipod. Currently listening to "Message from the Lord".

It's....... better than just reading The bible(?)

I haven't been able to watch it because I don't have a Netflix account, but from what I have seen, it's more about the characters' Slice of Life ventures with biblical morals than just stories from the bible. And it's more madcaped than the original.

By "the original", do you mean the previous TV show or the OVAs?

Geez, I want to watch it, but I'm afraid of what would happen if it showed up in my recents.

I mean, I have the TV spinoff of The Babysitter's Club in there, but it's for liveblogging.

I don’t even know anymore.

I'm really not sure how I feel about this. I mean, I haven't seen this new one, so I can't really say much without looking stupid, but I loved the originals and still get a laugh out of them. I wouldn't be that happy if they changed it...
