I'm not going to be mad at you for not being fast enough, I just figured people didn't know the RP had started yet.

Either that or I'm just far faster and way less patient than everyone else.

For Skye, have her wake up and go over her psychological/sociological differences from humans & fellow Skyblazers before working on school matters. Your first post is all about establishing the character. You can also flesh out the school, students and staff there as well.

As for Oni-Lord, since your character is worried Gen 3 will make her obsolete introduce her training and possibly thinking about the Esper project as a whole. Real-Life combat simulation is also allowed, though they use Augmented Reality to simulate the use of more dangerous/destructive weapons.

Completely unrelated but: I realize I made my faction basically completely closed for any other players by making Gabriel's mech the only one they made, but if anyone wants a character to be part of the group I can edit my bio for it no problem. Added this to my last post in the signup as well.

Well, people do sell Mecha units and plenty are capable of constructing them. I would just assume his is the only one of that project.

Right, first off: The experimental engine Hochste Einmal is developing is called the Schicksal Zerstörung, referred to as SZ Engine for ease. These engines are derived from the Zero Lament, and should worst come to pass the pilot can detonate it to cause a massive explosion. Though the perfected SZ Engine is intended to be able to fire ADS (Absolute Destruction Sphere, what Hochste Einmal calls their fake black holes) from the core.

In addition to combining Eldritchian Biology with Mechanical Armor design, CACHE is quite skilled at making Eldritch biotech. Be that something mundane like making scanners from a Telepath, to the more weaponized like powered armor that gives the user pyrokinesis. Oh, and while there are systems in place to check for Eldritchians, there isn't a system that genetically scans for the Eldritchian presence. However there is an experimental new unit being made that they call Falchion which has an onboard system to do that.

There's also the habit of famous/successful pilots also doubling as (voice) actors or attending special events, such as the Skyblazer Samson Cresting also being a CACHE pilot. Oh, and since Mecha is such a common thing, most adults just see them as weapons while the general coolness is more than cars would be here. In fact teenagers don't expect cars for their sweet sixteen, but Mini-Mecha. Most get stuck with cars though.

Regarding aging of artificial life, CACHE and Hochste Einmal can make an aging nutrient fluid that only affects growth when one is submerged in it. Everyone else either has to make the artificial entity age faster naturally (Which Seed Esper does to mass-produce Gen 2 Espers for sale) or simply wait.

Both CACHE and Seed Esper believe there are no stupid powers, though CACHE generally upgrades anything they think is too weak while Seed Esper will make it work somehow. Oh, and CACHE does run a facility that is one part private school (truly meant for their Artificial Lifeforms to learn and blend in), one part pilot academy/rehab, and one part testing new soon-to-be publicized technologies.

Having a Puppet for a player character is also allowed, which CACHE do tend to use so they don't have to worry about the Unseelie phenomenon as much. Finally, there are plenty of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality events, such as a fantasy MMORPG about a Demon Academy (think Disgaea with fully customized characters) or the Super Robot Tournament which is about pilots using virtual models to demonstrate their skill.

That is enough words for now, though some companies do make their mascots real people and ever since Eldritchians humanity has been able to grant animals the capacity for human communication. Course humans aren't the only ones that can be mutated, so... Beware of cats with an abyss for an eye and other such strangeness. Oh, and human cloning is legal since Eldritchian attacks cause massive amounts of death and destruction. Obviously not everyone does it, and most just use it to clone their dead young-ling so there wouldn't be an obvious giveaway they're clones.

I don't want to think about the ethical issues that would undoubtedly arise from cloning a dead child.

Mostly along the lines of "are they really your same child?"

So are people planning to post? It's been 4 days since the opener and we've had a whole 4 posts, of which one has been a WIP for over 24 hours and another is by a guy who's already done his intro post and feels like an attempt to make things seem less dead. Also Kkut you have a bio waiting for approval.

[up] From what I've heard, Oni-Lord and Chariot aren't quite sure what to do right now.

Also, I came up with another question; With beasties running about like Tiamat (currently unkilled, capable of destroying an aircraft carrier in a single hit) and Prism Lancer (currently unkilled, capable of shelling everywhere on Earth without being touched), how has sea travel and air travel been affected, considering a jetliner or a passenger liner could be killed in single blows by monsters you'd never see coming?

Didn't notice an application was edited in. Besides that, I really wanted to wait until everyone posted before having the Eldritchian land. Though I think I'll make that post later today anyways.

To be fair, Mecha have become the main way of fighting Eldritchians and even before that transforming technology was already developed. Most aircraft carriers would be quite old, and intercontinental travel is actually pretty quick. Slow methods of travel are either meant to be scenic or are moving very many (fragile/dangerous) things.

Though hover technology has greatly affected vehicles, such as outfitting cars with hover so roads don't have to be paved and keeping planes/boats aloft even when they're damaged. Thus capsizing or crashing a plane/boat is actually very complicated, since you need to destroy all the hovers. In addition, with hover technology non-renewable fuels are saved/used for more important things. There's still plenty of non-hover versions however, and it would be quite difficult making everyone use hover tech.

Regarding durability, Mecha research is commonly applied for other (more mundane) purposes. In addition to that, everything important to society is generally focused on first to improve. So planes/boats are some of the first things to incorporate new technology that'll make them safer. Though there isn't too much fear of spontaneous Eldritchian attacks, as most have been slain (but enough plane/boat use has dropped some due to paranoia). I'll probably have Tiamat show up as a brand new weaponized ship is being unveiled however, if Questor is okay with that. Radar systems are still a thing, so even if they can't instantly tell the approaching thing shouldn't be they'll know if something huge rapidly approaches.

Speaking of paranoia, ever since the Eldritchians appeared, everything with monsters and the like is viewed with fear because it could be real. There are also some who think myths/legends/etc might of been formed because of ancient Eldritchians, but they're mostly ignored because there shouldn't be a humanity if true. There is a small group who think ancient Eldritchians might be responsible for modern day mutations because of ancient dino-cide though.

Yeah, Avalon is where we'll be focusing for now. By the way, I take it the X means the specific unit they are? So if true that would make the Melissa you're using the 61,304th one made. I would also like to know more about the Tezuka Tournaments, what they think of the other factions, and the general people they market their products to. By the way, I would think making bioroids meant to subtly manipulate a person's mind would be slightly illegal. Perfectly fine, as one would pretty much have to do whatever they can if they want to make a profit outfitting people in this world.

In addition, information on their opinion of all Artificial/Alien/Altered life would be nice as well as Melissa's specific opinions.

Yup the X is a variable, alongside the other numbers/letters behind it. That is for the *specific* unit. As many units are built on the same day.

The Tezuka Tournament is essentially what it says. It is a Tournament, hosted by the Tezuka Corporation. Within it, pilots of various Mechas can sign up their Mecha (or test out the models of the Tezuka Mechas, if they do not have one) and fight against each other, and various Mecha Prototypes of the Tezuka Corporation. In later editions, where more pilots not affiliated directly with the Corporation participated in it, they have had specialty matches which reveal the prototypes and new models.

In the Tournament there are separate branches for different type of Mecha, such as Light Weight Divisions, Medium Weight, Heavy-weight, and ones that are strictly ranged, strictly melee, mixed matches, etc. The Tezuka Corporation offers rewards, such as Mecha parts, money, etc. for those who win their section of the Tournament.

The Tezuka Corporation Relations/Opinions

CACHE:: The Tezuka Corporation Research and Development branches of have extended offering of joint-investigations with CACHE concerning Meteorites and Eldtrichian Biology. (Some say it is in general earnest and kinship, due to a shared interest in knowledge, others say it is solely for industrial espionage, to obtain useful information pertaining to the business interests of the Corporation.)

Hochste Einmal: The Tezuka Corporation has business dealings with this faction. With Project:Amaterasu, and their own space colonies (and desires to continue expanding it), they seek to maintain friendly relations with them. (To obtain their tech, so they can reverse engineer it to make it better, and of course patent it. Though even without friendly relations they'd probably engage in industrial espionage for the tech anyway)

Seed Esper: The Tezuka Corporation keeps a wary eye on this faction, and treats them as a Rival Corporation, who they'd very much like to bankrupt and buy out. The Marketing Department studies them constantly.

And for Melissa's personal opinions on the various life-forms.

Artificial Life: They are kin, especially those produced by the Tezuka Corporation.

Cyborgs/Other Modded Humans: She hopes they are useful for the people who helped construct/rebuild/repair them. After all, it is like, a totally important to follow protocols.

Aliens: Melissa, this specific unit, finds aliens to be weird. But they are useful to the Tezuka Corporation for their inventions, which will be engineered into a better device by the Tezuka Corporation, and as such do have a purpose.

I'll be honest: I figured out the people making up CACHE more than I did Seed Esper and Hochste Einmal. So I won't write a thing yet to show their general business, and instead allow the P Cs to interact with technicians & whatnot who would inform about/during battle. I'll write the post introducing the Eldritchian later on today, and though it'll be the introductory boss don't expect it to be a total pushover.

Sorry about the shortness of the update, I'll do a thing with the next post introducing Seed Esper pilot Gabriel Williams and Hochste Einmal pilot Christen Curtis. Anyways, each CACHE facility commonly has five Seelies stationed at them. Because of the events last year, the entire CACHE Avalon branch is down three Seelie pilots. Currently they're getting an English pilot transported and constructing two new Seelies.

Oh, and those familiar with HM: The Eldritchian is more-or-less an upgraded Tentacle-Man. Haven't decided on his official name, though figured someone in-universe would say "Its some kind of tentacle man thing" or similar.

So, I've been busy and took a bit long to post, my bad, but looking at your latest post there's just very little to go by. It's mostly centered around your own characters, who belong to the one faction no one picked to boot. All people get is "messages are sent to forewarn pilots" within a CACHE base, then Sparty basically made everything up from there. For one of your own big factions no less. And then you say next post is going to have more of your characters introduced?

I didn't really know what to do, and I was only going to introduce said characters because the P Cs aren't literally the only line between Earth & the Eldritchians. Though I would say Hochste Einmal had their own early warning going off, and I won't introduce said characters then.

Fun Fact: Pilots who eject from fighter jets are actually measurably shorter than before their fateful flight, simply because of the forces exerted on them.

So that's why I figure all pilots probably wear an armored suit of some kind. Either to keep their spine from undergoing that compression in the first place, or to try and stretch them back out beforehand.

That's not possible? Meteorite technology, I ain't gotta explain shit.

I mean, you making your shit up is fine, you worked with what you had, my issue (so to speak) is that you're not making shit up for your own little minor group, you're making shit up for a major, big power faction introduced by the GM.

Well, that and the GM only barely touching upon procedure and whatnot for the one faction literally no player is a part of, and then focusing mostly on his own characters instead of providing more of a lead for players to follow instead of just having to come up with procedure in its entirety.

[up] I'm not entirely sure where you're getting that from in regards to me. I can see where you're coming from, yes, but the things I've expanded on are either Seed Esper-exclusive (the Roughriders) or apply to all of Avalon in general.

I don't think I've ever actually made up anything for CACHE exclusively, and if I have it was probably indirect.

Seriously, sorry about that, bad update is bad. Though I'm really not too worried what people write for Seed Esper, since they're a multi-national organization/company. As long as certain things are adhered to, I'll pretty much allow the players to influence the nature of the Seed Esper branch they're at. Hochste Einmal and CACHE have rather strict rules on what they are, so... yeah.

CACHE and Hochste Einmal piloting systems would differ, though Sparty is pretty much right for Seed Esper & most non-CACHE/Hochste units. Some cockpits are designed to counter such problems without forcing a suit onto the pilot, but it all varies.
