The general gist of those who didn't read the opening post: Destiny Drive is an alternate universe set in the year 2015 on Earth filled with fancy technology and alien stuff, with the main threat to life being physics defiant monsters simply known as Eldritchians. Mecha, short for Mechanical Armor there, is used to combat these monsters but are also a perfectly common part of life. There'll also be non-Eldritchian enemies (like criminals), but the cosmic horrors are nonetheless the main bad guys.

I'll start the roleplay sometime after everyone that expressed interest posts their application, and after a page of establishing your characters for "Episode 1" an Eldritchian will arrive. Oh, and there's a bunch of info I haven't mentioned yet, so is everyone okay with me just writing it all down? It'll be a pretty big post.

I do have a minor question; How are we getting to Avalon? VTOL, cruise liner, jetliner?

I would assume you would all be there already, and there's multiple different ways to get there. UN employees obviously get better modes of transport than the publicly available means. Now then, information about this world.

Empress: The original True AGIs, the first of the seven was created in 1960 mainly as proof they could be made. Following "her" creation, six more were made to help the proto-CACHE from simple public relations to checking ideas and even overseeing the creation of new AGIs. While their names aren't static concepts, each of the seven AGIs behave a certain way. The first, referred to as Emily, is free-roaming and performs as a CACHE agent when not aiding other A.I.s. The second, titled Madeline, aids with CACHE's finances and is very orderly. The third, Priscilla, approves experiments and projects while constantly coming up with her things. The fourth, Rebecca, overviews general behavior of CACHE employees and loves messing with people. Ed, the fifth, keeps track of CACHE's assets and loves overindulging herself. Overseeing the construction of new CACHE AGIs is the sixth, Samantha. Lastly, providing emotional support and as a therapist to employees is Sandra.

Mass Production Seelies: Made primarily to arm military forces, MP Seelies are mostly the type of Mech CACHE recruits use. Lacking much of the power of the ace customs and prototypes that make up all "proper" Seelies, Mass Production units make up by easily being replaceable, being easier to familiarize, and having great versatility. Though, even as mass production units they're still more powerful than Mundane Units.

Sweepers: Individuals that, one way or another, work for the UN with the express purpose of cleaning up when Eldritchians are slain. Outfitted with full body protection to prevent mutation or harmful contact, smaller pieces of Eldritchians are sucked into a back-mounted storage system while bigger Eldritchian chucks are either cut apart or removed intact depending on how populated an area is. Since Eldritchian biology is so valuable and dangerous, Sweepers themselves have to be trained & equipped for combat. Thus, should they encounter hostile Mutants they are to subdue the target and bring it back if possible.

CACHE Council: The leaders of CACHE, their exact locations and identities are unknown. Though, as a result, they frequently have fun when they call a meeting with one of their lessers and rarely go the "concealed faces in a dark room" route. Still, having got there by skill, dismissing them as incompetent is a poor mistake to make. Some past decisions however have made them less than liked, though some (such as barring Tobias Nolan from mecha, you just don't mix booze with piloting) are understandable.

Unseelie: When an Artificial Fae bonds too much with their Seelie or experience extreme emotions, the unit's Eldritch power will increase... and the pilot ends up tapping into their Eldritchian memories and personality. The result is a feral beast that will rely solely on their powers to savagely kill their enemies. While the pilot will at times retain enough self to stop themselves from attacking non-Eldritchian targets, they'll go completely berserk in the worst case scenario. Once an unit has gone Unseelie, it'll be scrapped for study if there are other functional units at or near the base it originates from. Though, while more common with Seelies following the Gigan route, it can still happen to any Seelie piloted by a Fae. Thus, it acknowledged the Unseelie phenomenon comes from the Artificial Fae instead of the Seelie. However, publicly, Unseelie is stated to be the result when an Eldritchian possessed the unit.

CACHE Underground: Beneath the surface of Avalon is extremely complex machinery that ends up producing a labyrinthine mess to try navigating. Proto-CACHE having known they would need someplace to hide the projects too dangerous or public-unfriendly, the CACHE Underground was made within Avalon itself. Though there are special entrances all around Avalon, only classified employees know how to get in since only completely trustworthy individuals are allowed into the Underground. Here is where everything too important to let society know is kept, including such things as captured Eldritchians among others. Should anything from the Underground get loose, CACHE and the UN would end up turned on by the world. More mundanely, the Underground is used to quickly get anywhere on Avalon without being seen.

Generation Zero: Having found some mysterious preserved flesh and a brief holographic video implying what it does inside Meteorite One, the scientists of 1980 tried hybridizing a clone with human biology. Having no idea what they were dealing with, they quickly destroyed the screeching deformed abomination. Going back over the video and digging around the area they found it to get more information, they tried a couple more times over the next fifteen years. Having destroyed all but the last one, it turned out to be psychologically stable enough to let live. Studying its biology to improve the process, the knowledge they obtained was soon applied to the Artificial Fae program. Though, it would frequently try to break free from containment whenever it became curious about something and when it was approached by the original head of the Artificial Fae program it became obsessed with them.

Realization of Soul: Experimental Eldritchian bio-technology, it is basically programming blank Eldritchian tissue to generate abilities. Since it is still experimental, the samples read one's mind and generates a single ability reflecting some random facet. While currently only the CACHE Council and a few select individuals possess one to use, both CACHE & the UN are impressed with the project's potential. Thus, a new "MP" Unit is being built with some of this bio-technology to see how it'll affect the Mech.

G.E.N: Short for Geocentric Entry Network, Hochste Einmal developed them across the world to pull in extra-planetary objects at various speeds. While easily functional as a weapon, the real purpose of the G.E.N is to pull down anything from space-borne creations, meteors, or even Eldritchian pods at safe speeds. Thus allowing spaceships to be reused, meteors to be harvested in full, and Eldritchians left dangling from above among numerous uses. Though not specifically meant to send things into space, it can also serve that function should no human-made station be working.

Zero Lament: Having been built since 1995 and making its first combat appearance in 2000, it is widely regarded as one of the most powerful Mecha. Known for its ability to produce false black holes, the Zero Lament was able to completely eliminate the Eldritchians it fought. Though, while humanity felt safe with the Zero Lament around, it eventually met its match against an Eldritchian dubbed Blackwood. The pilot detonating the Zero Lament to ensure the creature's destruction, fear renewed itself when even the "Ultimate Mecha" was defeated by the Eldritchians. Still, the five years the unit ran inspired others to become protectors too, and mystery continues to run around about who the pilot was.

Mark II: From studying the remains of the experimental unit Zero's Lament, Hochste Einmal has been working on engines that'll provide limitless power for Wonderwaffen mecha. While the humans have been informed it can be used as a last-ditch weapon and have seen the prototypes tested, they don't really know how the engines work. They're attempts at replicating a Drive beyond even the Alten.

Mentalists: The term Seed Esper uses for their in-house AGI, they're so complicated Seed Esper has to create huge machines to house the AGI. Thus they're primarily only installed in Mecha, to which point the AGI will act as a co-pilot or help run the unit's functions. In actually they're all Gen 1 or specially made Espers.

In addition, here are the three already made Artificial Fae types.

  • Derivative from: Inferus Dreamer
  • Abilities: Pyrokinesis (in general able to generate and control said fire, though their emotional state affects it), Lava Blood (though not literally lava, once exposed their blood becomes extremely hot and will melt through what it touches), Extreme Heat Resistance
  • Fae Biology: Their internal body temperature is higher than normal humans, but besides their tendency to have red hair & eyes not much else of note.
  • Unseelie Frequency: Rather low, though Faith Long (transition between Gen 1 & 2) was unusually calm despite still being in the Unseelie state after killing the Eldritchian that provoked her.
  • Eldritchian Influence: Very low, with some Gen 1 like Eric Ventus and Freya Kingston only showing Eldritch behavior when using their flawed powers, though some Gen 2 like Fuji Ventus intrinsically want to make peace with the Eldritchians. Then there's Faith Long, who has been recorded as having "dreams" representing the Eldritchian's memories.
  • Pilot Ratio: Very high, nearly every Inferus Fae being trained as a pilot. The only exceptions are unstable Gen 1 like Freya Kingston and most of Gen 3.

  • Derivative from: Emotional Enigma
  • Abilities: Emotion Feeding/Empowerment (their only ability, nonetheless it allows them to feed on the emotions of others and store it as energy they can use to enhance any physical attribute)
  • Fae Biology: They experience more potent and wild emotions, effectively making any drug that affects emotions to incapacitate them as they're overwhelmed. Though they can survive purely by feeding off the emotions' of others, and can actually smell & taste emotions.
  • Unseelie Frequency: Very high, to the point they're practically guaranteed to go into the Unseelie state when using an Emotional Enigma unit.
  • Eldritchian Influence: Moderate, though this mainly comes down to compelling them to feed off others and trick individuals to drain them emotionally dry. Though, they do have an odd compulsion to read about Magical Girls.
  • Pilot Ratio: Very low, and when they do they're not provided a Seelie derived from the Emotional Enigma.

  • Derivative from: Spatial Render
  • Abilities: Self Molecular Manipulation (they're able to manipulate their bodies' molecular bonds, able to "teleport" dash and move through solid objects, though this is also their biggest weakness as they can't rebond their body after a minute)
  • Fae Biology: Electricity is a major weakness to them, coming in four stages: Supercharge (accelerating the movement of their atoms), Fused (unable to manipulate their bodies' molecular bonds as well, and even if managing the atoms will randomly fuse back), Leaking (electricity starts to seep out from their bodies), and finally Explosion (every single atom making up their body fires off in a different direction, certain to kill them)
  • Unseelie Frequency: Surprisingly low, as they're able to disrupt their connection at will.
  • Eldritchian Influence: Non-existent from what has been studied, though they seem to be instinctively drawn to Enigma Fae and commonly become friends as a well.
  • Pilot Ratio: Moderate, as few were produced until the second half of Gen 2 due to worries about their ability to manipulate their molecular bonds making them dangerous to contain if gone rogue. With the majority part of Gen 3, there's not many Render Fae deemed suitable as a result.

So would anyone be interested in me giving profiles for some of the past Eldritchians? I was also going to mention the Classifications they're divided into, but I think this post is big enough.

Xenomorph was named after the eponymous Alien, and made landfall at a date that I can't bother to come up with in Sydney, Austrailia. While it didn't share much in the way of appearance, Xenomorph was still a terrifying Eldritchian; the "first responder" group was completely unprepared and nearly slaughtered to the man. Any type of optical stealth was useless around it as the Xenomorph "saw" in sonar, so it always knew where you were. While the Xenomorph's usual weapons were about what you could expect - acid-spitting and razor-sharp claws - the Xenomorph often let itself get bloodied; its blood was high-pressured and somehow exactly as if not more acidic than hydrochloric acid, so even if you attacked with a ranged weapon you'd cause major collateral damage. In addition, it was fast even for an Eldritchian - a lethal combination when combined with acid blood and claws.

Xenomorph killed seven Mass Produced mechs before an Austrailian mech known as "Black Adder" was able to bring it down. Black Adder was sidelined for a month as almost half of the mech had to be replaced due to acid damage, and collection of any parts of Xenomorph was made difficult due to its acidic blood. However, the blood itself is being studied and attempts are being made to clone it as a significantly more potent substitute for hydrochloric acid.

Due to insanely popular demand (or probably just 4chan/8chan doing it for the lulz), before Black Adder returned to service its pilot rechristened it "Predator".

Alien's release seems to have been May 25, 1979. Though this isn't much of a secret, since the Eldritchians can end up as anything there are those that can give themselves any ability or even count as the Eldritchian equivalent of a mad scientist. So there's a very real possibility that "Xenomorph" was specifically designed that way instead of pure chance. Just a little tidbit of info, fine either way.

Though since you brought that up...

The Eldritchians are divided into several basic Classifications for ease of paperwork & whatnot. These are Physical (those with abilities purely like Durability, Strength, Speed), Elemental (those able to manipulate a basic part of reality, like Pyrokinesis or Gravity Manipulation), Psychic (those with powers like Telepathy, Extra Sensory Perception, Retrocognition, etc), and Bio (those with abilities like Acidic Blood, Super Senses, Shape-Shifting, or abilities to actively mutate others).

More specific Classifications would be Undying (an Eldritchian proving itself insanely hard to kill), Emperor (one that meets all four basic classifications), Jokester (one that looks harmless or ridiculous before proceeding to unleash its terrifying powers), and Poser (one that looks visually impressive or terrifying that's actually weak or easily defeated) among others. Admittedly "Poser" is more of a placeholder since I don't know how to spell the word I actually wanted.

I'll also explain about some of the Eldritchians that had attacked in the past.

  • Name: Emotional Enigma
  • Class: Psychic/Bio/Physical
  • Abilities: Emotional Feeding/Empowerment (It could feed on emotions, and in turn use them to empower itself)
  • Appearance: Initially it was a rather simple organic quad-pedal creature, but as it repeatedly regenerated itself it began to look more majestic. By the end humanoid figures were growing out of it that looked like Magical Girl characters, and was looking like a parody of Tuxedo Mask.
  • Encounter: It arrived in 1996, on January 19th. Somehow it managed to avoid detection, and subtly infected humans in North America so it could remotely drain their emotions. It eventually was discovered in July when CACHE began researching the mysterious loss of emotions, and was forced out of hiding on the 15th at 2:21 PM.
  • Observations: The creature seemed intelligent as it was able to accurately produce Magical Girl characters from its body, and once the battle was over CACHE officially decided the creature wasn't ready yet for combat. Given it was able to regenerate entire limbs and effortlessly crush objects before exhausting its emotion stores, it must of been intending to absorb enough to be invincible.

  • Name: Spatial Render
  • Class: Bio/Psychic
  • Abilities: Self Molecular Manipulation (was able to effortlessly manipulate its body's structure, attacks harmlessly passing through as it "teleport" and flew all around)
  • Appearance: The creature's body was a nightmarish mess, bones jutting out from its skin, limbs stuck mid-phase through its flesh, blood spontaneously leaking from its body. Though its body seemed like it was meant mainly for flight, as when its power was locked it could hardly move about on the ground.
  • Encounter: In 1996, on the morning of August 10th the creature flew down from the heavens over its' own power and proceeded to launch globs of its flesh at the ground at high speeds. It accidentally showed humans its weakness when it was shocked by a unit it had destroyed.
  • Observations: The creature seemed confused by how electricity affected it, implying it wasn't even aware. In addition, as it flopped helplessly on the ground and began screeching the impression was given that it was either indignantly asking to be spared or pathetically trying to threaten the pilots. Showing footage of the battle to Enigma and Render Fae however makes them think the creature was asking to be finished off.

  • Name: Inferus Dreamer
  • Class: Elemental/Bio
  • Abilities: Pyrokinesis (it was able to generate and control saw fire, the intensity having increased as it became more enraged, and when it was temporarily thought dead it began puppeteer its own body with fire), Lava Blood (when it was made to bleed, the blood melt through what it touched until it cooled down), Extreme Heat Resistance (it was able to effortlessly shrug off attacks that generated heat either as a main or secondary component, and wasn't bothered at all when it wrapped itself in flames)
  • Appearance: In a lot of ways, it was like an overgrown wolf with scales instead of fur. Though in place of a tail were two entwined arms, that it used to surprise a pilot attacking it from behind.
  • Encounter: Landing right in the middle of Washington DC on May 15th 1995, it introduced itself by unleashing a massive screech. Casually melting the buildings in its way to slag, the battle was only won when CACHE sent in their prototype Seelie Object-Alpha.
  • Observations: The casual way it destroyed and fought gave the impression the creature was an actual warrior than simply abusing its ungodly powers. In addition, the creature seemed quick to turn its attention towards getting to Avalon. However, attempting to get any info out of the Inferus Fae about its behavior has proven useless.

Before I list some other previously encountered Eldritchians, would everyone that included one in your bio like to elaborate on them?

One question;

What date does the game take place? Considering I have definite ages on at least one of my characters that's an important thing to know before I go around dating their Landfalls.

The Roleplay would initially take place on March 15th, 2015 though there'll be timeskips between each "Episode". Don't intend for the roleplay to get into the year 2016 however, though setting the Final Battle on Christmas or New Year's Eve might happen. Still waiting on someone to apply for CACHE though.

Thanks. Have the Eldritchian that killed Kristen's parents and the one that Salvador kept at bay; plus, Xenomorph V2!

  • Name: Xenomorph
  • Class: Durability/Bio
  • Abilities: Razor-sharp claws that were almost monomolecular, pointed tail that was monomolecular, razor-sharp teeth, hyperacidic bile and high-pressure hyperacidic blood, and sonar vision (though it came at the expense of regular vision)
  • Appearance: Just enough like the titular Xenomorph to unsettle people - then it turns out it has a face (with pupilless eyes that still focus), and skin over its sharp body everywhere besides its claws.
  • Encounter: Xenomorph silently emerged from the waves in Sydney, Austrailia on May 25th, 1999. The Xenomorph proceeded to cause nothing less than mass terror and extreme collateral damage, before it finally dropped the kiddie gloves and obliterated seven of a nine Mass-Produced task force to take it down. Eventually the Black Adder (now called Predator, for obvious reasons) was called in; after a fierce fight lasting several hours Black Adder was able to kill Xenomorph, at the cost of a full month in the Mech Bay.
  • Observations: The Xenomorph was noted to be insanely cruel, as it would often toy with its prey before slaughtering them mercilessly. For a brief period of time it also managed to outsmart the Mass Produced mechs sent to kill it. Notably, the four Mass Produced units that used melee weapons all perished because the Xenomorph let itself get hit - its acidic blood would blast a jet through their weaponry and sometimes them, and at least one bystander noted that a mech got hit directly in the cockpit and fell over destroyed. Its blood made recovery extremely difficult and turned Sydney into a biohazard zone for two weeks, but with the Xenomorph contained efforts are being made to clone its blood and use it as hyperefficient acid.

  • Name: Pterosaurus
  • Class: Physical
  • Abilities: Flight, ridiculous strength and precision, and total ignorance of pain (which almost classified it as Undying, because nobody could actually hurt it enough)
  • Appearance: An unholy crossbreed of a Tyrannosaurus Rex and a Pterodactyl; and then someone gave it arms that were actually worth using and bulletproof scales.
  • Encounter: Pterosaurus descended from the heavens on St. John's on October 2nd, 2003, where anti-aircraft fire and SAM fire didn't seem to faze it at all throughout its fight. Pterosaurus dealt most of its collateral damage simply because it flew through buildings without feeling any effects; it destroyed two mechs, disabled eight more, and killed five pilots, in addition to destroying every CF-35 sent to try and shoot it down. Notably, Pterosaurus was one of the few Eldritchians killed by something that wasn't a mech; as the Great Thunder escorted a lone Leopard 2A6M main battle tank away, Pterosaurus swooped down and impacted Great Thunder. When they stopped moving, Great Thunder had managed to overcome the Pterosaurus; with its weapon systems damaged, the pilot used the mech's prodigous strength to pry open its scales and rip clear a path to its heart, then turned around. The Leopard, sensing its chance, proceeded to swing its turret around and empty its entire store of armor-piercing shells and machine gun ammunition into the sucking chest wound; Pterosaurus died several minutes later from blood loss, but Great Thunder stamped its head into paste to make absolutely sure.
  • Observations: Pterosaurus seemed to not at all register pain as a physical sensation; the impacts that forced their way past its scales seemed to have zero effect beyond visual, and a CACHE autopsy confirmed that it did not seem to have any nerves beyond the minimum needed to move the body - and even then they were atrophied enough to not sense anything. As mentioned, most of its damage simply came from the fact it flew through things and picked fights with buildings; Kristen Johnson's parents died this way as Pterosaurus swooped through a convoy of vehicles leaving St. John's, destroying all of them. (Kristen herself had gotten lost in he chaos and was taken in by the crew of a Leopard tank - the same one that ended Pterosaurus).

  • Name: El Toreador
  • Class: Physical
  • Abilities: Huge as fuck, fast as fuck, and tough as fuck. Unfortunately, it couldn't turn worth a damn and was easily distracted by anything that got through its skin - which was a lot of things.
  • Appearance: The unholy crossbreed of a komodo dragon and a rhinocerous, only with a triceratops's horns and a Stegosaurus's mace tail and spine.
  • Encounter: El Toreador emerged from the seas on August 1st, 2001, and charged through the Mexican countryside. Two villages and their entire populations were wiped off the map even before the Mexican government became aware, and it had destroyed one more by the time they'd solicited the nearest forces to assist. Strangely, El Toreador did not advance beyond that last village; when the CACHE squad arrived, they found that a single man was valiantly holding back the beast by firing at it, rousing its attention, then running like hell out of its charge path. Using that as an inspiration, they proceeded to bullfight the Bullfighter and defeat it rather easily - with the man cheering them on every step of the way, without any regard for his own personal safety.
  • Observations: The Bullfighter's trajectory seemed to curve North from where it left - stopping once it was on a direct path to Mexico City. While El Toreador was easy to defeat, had that man not held it off where he did, it would likely have destroyed half of Mexico City - the biggest metropolis in the world - before CACHE arrived, and quite possibly even more or the rest of it during the fight. While the Mexican government, despite his status as a civilian, attempted to give the citizen a Decoration of Heroic Valor for his actions, they were never able to find him - nobody quite knows why, but the combatants refuse to speak on the matter.

  • Name: Anansi
  • Class: Bio/Physical/Psychic
  • Abilities: Hyper-accelerated reproductive system, spiked limbs, webbing (not used for traps, but as an early warning system), can shoot out armor-piercing metallic, "hairs" from its thorax, fangs harder than carbon steel and more than capable of chewing through steel, concrete and mecha armor and the ability to psychically control and influence it's children.
  • Appearance: A horrific parody of a Tarantula with two heads, the smaller of which is located above the bigger head, five pairs of long, barbed limbs ending in razor-sharp spikes, two on the front being much larger than the rest, a disgustingly bloated thorax that constantly leaks out webbing and sexual fluids...
  • Encounter: Attacked Brasilia in 2008 days after its existence was confirmed from the reports of several villages and towns disappearing along with sightings of giant spiders. Nearly 20% of the population was wiped out by the Spiderling horde, either eaten as food or simply slain as they were in the way of their mother. Rather than continue its advance, Anansi had decided to make the now evacuated city as her lair, covering it in webbing and eggs. When a CACHE mecha squadron led by a pair of Supers arrived to clean up the mess, they didn't take any chances with the nightmarish lair before them and simply set the entire city ablaze from above. While the horde was wiped out, the mother survived the flames and proceeded to combat the Mecha by shooting her hairs and her children at them. After an absolutely brutal and long battle that saw nearly all of the mecha squadron destroyed, save for one Super and two Mundanes; Anansi was finally slain, having taken punishment and abuse that would have killed a lesser Eldtrichian twice over.
  • Observations: As it turned out, the smaller, secondary head was in fact a "Male", with nearly all of its body; save for it's sexual organs, nervous system and two front limbs atrophied away, having been "assimilated" by the "Female" as a sperm bank and a set of auxiliary organs. Currently, its genetic code is being researched to unlock the secrets of the hyper-accelerated gestation and growth of its children.

  • Name: Tiamat (Also colloquially and hatefully referred to as "The modern day Moby Dick")
  • Class: Bio/Physical
  • Abilities: Can swim up to 120 knots, has hypercorrosive saliva that can corrode and decay steel within seconds, a bioelectric field that when activated can stun or disable anything within 30 meters of itself, but also stuns it for several seconds; monstrous strength and can easily withstand the insane pressures of the deepest levels of the ocean, which means it's remarkably hard to kill or wound with weapons that rely on kinetic force like non-energy melee weapons and torpedoes... Which are also the most effective weapons against it...
  • Appearance: Stretching at over 50 meters long from snout to tailtip and at least 15 meters tall, Tiamat is a sea monster in every sense of the word, a crocodile-like head filled with hundreds of teeth harder and stronger than carbon steel attached to a jaw that can clamp down with more than enough force to crush most mech armor with frightening ease, sports three pairs of highly unusual Stalked insectoid eyes (The first and largest pair are located at the top of the skull and the other two are on the ocular cavities I.E: Where the eyes are supposed to go) that possess incredible vision and can see in infra-red, ultraviolet and polarized light; meaning that it can see all in the dark and murky depths of the ocean. The Rest of it's body is also crocodillian, but with the forelegs being rather disproportionately large as well as being tipped with serrated knife-like talons and the absence of hind legs in exchange for rudder-like fins along with an incredibly powerful, muscular tail. Another difference to the crocodillian form is the presence of spiked limbs sprouting from the crowns of it's clavicles are packed with extreme muscle power that they can lash out at 5 times the speed of sound... Underwater. The limb-spikes stretch out at 25 meters in full length and the spikes themselves are made of the same material as it's teeth. It also wears a malformed carapace on it's back which is in fact a grotesque trophy rack comprised the wreckage of the ships that it sunk and the underwater mecha that had failed to subdue it, held in place by colonies of mutated coral.
  • Encounter: First encountered On New year's day 2005 off the coast of San Francisco, where it sunk an Aircraft Carrier by headbutting it in half before proceeding to chop the golden gate bridge in two with its tail and then retreating before support can arrive. Since then, CACHE, Seed Esper and H.E have been hunting it down and has built a reputation as the most dangerous Underwater Eldtrichian ever due to its strength, number of destroyed mecha and intelligence. 10 years since its appearance, nearly 50 mecha lost against it along with dozens of ships both civilian and military... Tiamat is still at large and the big three's advancements in underwater combat and mecha design were solely motivated by this one Invader.
  • Observations: It is highly intelligent and sadistic, it never attempts to engage enemies unless it has the upper hand. Always preferring to isolate its prey before ruthlessly crushing them, launching hit and run attacks as well as terror tactics in order to keep its prey off balance. Also, for all its power and role as the de-facto ruler of the sea it prefers to avoid Avalon; hinting that it knows that it cannot win or escape a battle with Avalon's defense forces.

  • Name: Kerberosaurus Rex
  • Class: Physical
  • Abilities: Extreme strength, durability and endurance, Acidic and extremely sticky vomit
  • Appearance: A super-sized Tyrannosaurid with two heads on the front and a smaller, less matured head mounted above the tailbone, facing backwards. It sports a skeletal look with black flesh and muscle, reinforced with plates of rock-hard bone.
  • Encounter:
  • Observations: From the autopsy, it was revealed that each of its heads sports a fully functional brain, meaning that even with one head remaining, it could still live on.

Given Eldritchians are, well, Eldritchians those mass produced spider babies would in actuality just be clones or such. Real Eldritchian offspring is extremely random, and it would be luck or several generations of selective breeding for an Eldritchian to produce children similar to itself (or gene manipulation of its offspring, but that's not terribly common). Anyways, here are a couple other Eldritchians.

  • Name: Mind Splitter
  • Class: Undying Psychic/Bio
  • Abilities: Mental Fracturing (Is capable of breaking apart its mind into numerous fragments that'll infect other living creatures), Mental Domination (By infecting a living creature, it can manipulate, influence or outright control someone's mind), Psychic Blocking (its thoughts can't be controlled and barely if at all read), Biopsychokinesis (It can reshape its body, or those infected by it, at will to the point the body doesn't need to function like normal living creatures)
  • Appearance: Initially it was confronted with a legless aerodynamic form, but upon nearing the Avalon ground it violently shifted into a quad-pedal beast with bone pointing through its flesh. In addition, as it slaughtered more the Eldritchian absorbed the bodies of the dead. The end result when first slain was a creature vaguely bear-like at the front while the lower half was a squirming mass of tentacles. In addition its body was coated in bones.
  • Encounter: It was September 2nd 1998, at 7:21 AM when the Mind Splitter flew down to Earth. It was tearing through the Eastern United States, and was soon moving towards Avalon. When CACHE tried intercepting it, the beast ignored them as it advanced. Once it arrived at Avalon though, it settled onto the ground and then fought the Units that were chasing it. It quickly pierced through the cockpit of one of the units, and assumed to have absorbed the pilots' remains as none was found. Eventually, the monster was fighting off five Seelies, and slain when its head was cleaved in half by a sixth that attacked from above. The end result of pilot causalities were three, with the five confronting it suffering heavy unit damage, with a death toll of about 20,000.
  • Observations: Several weeks after the Eldritchian was slain, reports started coming in that individuals were inexplicably suffering moodswings, developing schizophrenia, claims of a voice telling them to do horrible things, and countless other mental & emotional abnormalities. When attempts to scan their mind turned up nothing unusual, these reports were classified as mental breakdowns and Posttraumatic stress disorder. However, a week later one of these individuals proceeded to murder their family very loudly, and a shambling mess of body parts erupted from the home. This was when the Eldritchian gained the name Mind Splitter, and a whole mess of issues started flowing (such as careful examination of those with mental issues and people trying to excuse their behavior on it). In addition to what it does to and forces it victims to commit, it is considered so evil that even when shown to Fae that don't seem to be influenced by their Eldritch source are repulsed by it.

  • Name: Prism Lancer
  • Class: Elemental/Physical
  • Abilities: Flight (though the exact mechanization of how is uncertain), Light Manipulation (it showed the ability to control light, firing deadly beams, making itself visually invisible, and dispersing light-based attacks), Folded Arms (composing its two "wings" were actually a large mass of skinny arms that were capable of flinging, crushing, and clutching with ease), Stomach Abyss (it was able to open a massive second mouth from its underbelly, where a razor-sharp tongue lashed out to drag things inside)
  • Appearance: In a lot of ways, it resembled a vulture sans legs. Though its beak was filled with knife-like teeth and lacked a tongue. In addition its back had a noticeable hunch, which stretched out about three meters. Furthermore, when its wings unfolded they stretched an extra twenty-five feet when before they were only fifty folded.
  • Encounter: On August 5th, 2013, the Prism Lancer introduced itself by raining laser beams from the Stratosphere. Even as projectiles were launched at it the Eldritchian refused to approach the ground, and when Mechanical Armors started approaching it began focusing on them alone. The beast eventually had a good chuck of its head removed, though it was only temporarily stunned before deciding to flee. It hasn't been seen since, though still believed to be alive.
  • Observations: The Eldritchian was rather protective of its hunch, and given it was still alive with a half-blown head the hunch has been assumed to be where its brain is. It is also assumed that's the reason it attacked from so high above. Though, the pilot that caused it too flee reported they heard it screech at him. Nobody else claims to have heard the screech, thus it is believed to have psychic powers as well.

I'm honestly surprised nobody wanted to work for CACHE. Its not like they're suffering big time because of their Pro-Eldritchian research, and there's plenty of radical Pro-Eldritchians that would attack Hochste Einmal just as there would be radical Anti-Eldritchians.

Though I suppose I should open the roleplay later today. Your first post is super important as you're allowed to do whatever you need to establish your character, so don't waste it by only writing a few sentences or skipping straight to their present.

[up] People centered their factional alignments around their mechs, most likely (source; if nothing else I totally did). Since nobody was piloting an Evangelion or something more fitting that would've had squishy bits inside it for whatever reason, I suppose that's why nobody picked CACHE.

Not everything would of been squishy bastardized Eldritchians. Some simply use Eldritchian biology to utilize their powers, like a Seelie using some of Anansi's code to generate and fire said armor-piercing metallic "hairs". Others just use more Meteorite Technology, like the Neon Ravager (it absorbs energy to activate "mode changes") or a Unit able to generate a sustained force field.

Anyways, hope the opening post for the roleplay isn't too stupid. I'll write a thing for Hochste and Esper in the next update.

Is there anywhere for characters to meet up, or do they all know each other already?

There's plenty of places in Avalon for one to be, such as beaches, an amusement park, and Museums among many others. However I would imagine most Hochste Einmal and Seed Esper characters to be approaching their local branch if not already there.

Well CACHE and the UN did accidentally discover the existence of Eldritchians back in 1980, thus perfectly reasonable they would encourage installing alarms back then to warn about such things. Still, the first recorded Eldritchian encounter was 1995, so "the citywide assault alarm implemented in the 80s to help warn citizens of a possible Eldritchian attack" might need to be readjusted.

Besides that, wow. Pretty impressive, hope I can expect more posts like that. Sorry I'm so crappy in comparison. Though I would like to know some more OOC about Great Thunder (like why it is Gipsy Danger) and the pilot. I take it you'll do Salvador's introduction for your next post?

[up] Alright. It's 2003, so all I need to do is bump it back to, say, '96.

My posts are probably going to get fairly shorter now that all the exposition is out of the way.

Great Thunder was a Restrained. It later got upgraded to Super when it fought another Eldritchian and received heavy damage; CACHE saw to it that Great Thunder was restored from its previous owners. The mech, though it carried an arm convertable to a plasma caster and a swordwhip (much like Gipsy Danger did), was and still is most notably famous (and named) for the weapon designed to be used with it - a shoulder-mounted 300mm gun. While unwieldy to aim, it caused truly massive amounts of damage and let off a crack that would oftentimes break the windows of anything near it. Its pilot was fairly cocky, but also had a textbook knowledge of kinematics that he could apply to the Great Thunder's gun - three of its kills were scored from a fairly long range as it spiralled a massive explosive shell into a poor Eldritchian's brainpan.

Also: yes.

I suppose Pacific Rim there would be more akin to a biopic, so as long as the mecha isn't made after the image source I'll allow such things. Though here are some quick descriptions of a few notable characters.

Gabriel Williams is a mutated human pilot working for Seed Esper since July 19th 2014. Falsely deemed by doctors as autistic and subsequently disrespected by his family, he eventually consumed Eldritchian biology to gain powers. Bony spikes growing out of his right shoulder, his tongue sharpening, and gaining the ability to push & retract a spike out of his left arm he has become blinded by his obsession with power. Still, even as a psychologically unstable individual, he has been able to successfully pilot his VIAM Blacken Angel.

Sol Jenkins, born just before the Skyblazers' arrival on Earth, is nonetheless familiar with her people's culture because of her paternal uncle. To that end she considers her mother "a monster" for conceiving a half-human child, due to all Skyblazers fearing their powers becoming diminished. Thus she considers her half-sister, Serena Jenkins, worthy only of pity. However, her blood having been sampled sixteen years ago to perfect the Inferus Fae, she has an... odd relationship with them as a result. Treating some, like Faith Long and Fuji Ventus, as sisters while she views others as her nieces/nephews or even as her children (though mostly just to mess with them). However, barely surviving an Eldritchian attack three years ago, she quit CACHE to become a freelance pilot.

Melissa Winters is the head of CACHE Avalon's Public Relations, adapting tales of employee and pilot life for the public to read. Though she occasionally suffers from skewed priorities and can come off as loony, she's quite competent at what she does. However, it is also easy to emotionally wound her by insulting her work, and uncannily possesses the ability to sneeze whenever one does. That attribute has gotten CACHE employees to (mostly) jokingly claim she's a mutant.

Yeah, it's not a direct copy. Great Thunder got its name somehow.

By the way, for anyone unawares; RP's a thing now. That might lead to my post, and if it does, scroll up to get to the first post.

EDIT: kkut, when everyone's finished posting, go ahead and sound the Eldritch Alarm anyways. I'll write in Salvador's post afterwards.

You can probably guess what that means for him, but hey.
