So, what should I be looking for in a gaming laptop these days?

Yeah, I know; I should get a desktop for gaming. Unfortunately, that isn't really practical for me these days (too much moving around). At the moment I'm using an hp laptop, (which could just about run Borderlands 2 when I got it, but I don't dare use to play it now, lest it melt into a pile of slag), I bought before my not being able to keep using a desktop quite hit home. The keyboard seems to be slowly falling to pieces, so I'll need to replace it.

I only really want something reliable and quiet rather than something super-powerful (being able to play the majority of 2015's PC-exclusive releases at all will suit me just fine, although I'll be using it for some programming too so an SSD would be nice). What sort of processors/graphics hardware should I be looking at?

Wish I could help, but I haven't really been keeping up with the PC gaming hardware market or recommendations these days. Your best bet for good info would be the On Topic Conversation forum's Computer Thread, pretty sure the geeks in there might be able to help out.

Well, you may have the wrong approach. No difference, you should look for in a gaming laptop what you would want in a desktop. Its just more expensive for the same power and they are hard to make yourself.
