"We thought Operation Last Dance would be the end of it. We thought we had finally eliminated the Bydo, and that the Earth would be safe again. We were wrong. Horribly, horribly wrong."

"While we were busy hunting down those alien bastards, they had a backup plan in case we killed their core. They spawned an evolved race of Bydo that were independent of the normal core in secret. It took em 50 years to finally show themselves, but they came in swarms to attack Earth. And we weren't ready for them at all. We exhausted a lot of our resources in the civil war over the continued usage of the Force Pods, leaving us open to be preyed on by those monsters."

"Then, some hot shot got into an old R-9 Arrowhead to try and fight these things. Although he eventually got shot down, his attacks with the Force Pod seemed to worked on these new Bydo nearly as well as they did on the original Bydo. So, new Force Pods, made with embryos from these new Bydo, were developed to counteract this threat. The Earth Government had no choice but to revive the R-Series of fightercraft, as they were the only hope humanity had for survival."

Hello, and welcome to R-Type Sigma! This RP is based off of Irem's popular R-Type series, taking place 50 years after the events of R-Type Final. Humanity is now faced with an even greater threat than the original Bydo Empire: The Bydo Σ, an evolved offshoot of the Bydo led by the intelligent humanoid Bydo Lords. The R-Series of fighters has been brought out of retirement in response, with new generations of the old fighters and brand new models being created to defend the human race from extinction. Utilizing an improved version of the Force Pods, these brave pilots are ready to take on the Bydo Σ!

All the player characters will be humans, and will all be in a single squadron known as Whiskey Company. No single person will be the main character, as all the player characters will have a major role in the RP. Here's the character sheet!

For the Force Pods, Bits, Missiles, and Wave Cannons, we will use only the ones found in R-Type Final. A full list of them can be found here. I'd like to see diversity in the ships, so try not to use the same weapons loadout as another player.

WARNING: This RP will be dark, much like the series it's based on. If that is not your kind of thing, then this RP may not be for you.

I may not be in for this when it starts- I'm leaving the forums to catch up on life.

• Pilot:
  • Name: "Soldier B". Real name unknown.
  • Age: 35
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: "Soldier B" is an Asian man with short black hair that stands up slightly and a pair of glasses. He wears a grey bodysuit with a blue stripes that resemble Tron Lines going from his shoulders down to his legs. He also has a silver "B" symbol on each of his shoulders.
  • Personality:
    • Soldier B is a nice albeit introverted person on the outside. Many people find him very weird due to his rather anti-social nature and thus shun him. Despite this, he is very polite and kind to others if they treat him well, and usually takes insults towards him rather calmly. Soldier B is also great at engineering and programming, which is how he managed to install a 6-way missile into his Ragnarok III.
    • In battle, Soldier B isn't as nice as he is outside it- at least to his enemies. He shows much anger and rage in battle, preferring to charge his Giga Wave Cannon to blast huge holes in the opponent's army, finishing off incoming opposition as he charges or any remaining foes with Cyclone Force and 6-way missiles. (If the opponent isn't very strong like 1 Gains, he uses 3-4 charges, if it's strong like a boss then 5-6, if it's a whole gigantic army of stuff, maximum)
    • Soldier B harbours yet another side to his personality inside him...
  • Background:
    • Soldier B is a rather strange person who only refers to himself as "B". Since his early teens, he's been hated and shunned by others for his strange mannerisms. Soldier B joined the Space Corps for an unknown reason, and over there he was usually seen alone and shunned by others. Despite this, Soldier B proves his worth- his programming and engineering skills allowed him to modify most of his ships (sometimes illegally) giving them powerful capabilities that destroy the Bydo with sheer force. This action however earning the ire of some the Space Corps, due to his illegal modifications on official ships- as a result, they refused to give him a rank.
    • After Operation Last Dance, Soldier B was once again treated like dirt by the humans. But when the Bydo Sigma struck, Soldier B took this opportunity to prove his worth by opting to join Whiskey Company, finding a person who could relate to him in Jonathan "Stormer" Aurion.

• Pilot:
  • Name: Jonathan "Stormer" Aurion
  • Age: 28
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: Stormer is a Caucasian man with long, layered blonde hair that reaches to his shoulders, blue eyes, and a bit of stubble on his face. He wears a black bodysuit with a gray stripe going diagonally across his chest, and two gray stripes that run from his shoulders down to his wrists. He also has "Lt. Aurion" monogramed in yellow lettering on the upper right side of his suit.
  • Personality: Some say Stormer used to be a rather cheerful man a few years ago, but dealing with the Bydo Sigma for 4 years has shell-shocked him quite a bit. His fiancee's disappearance 3 years ago while on a mission broke him, and he's put up a stoic face to try and hide the pain in his heart. He visits the base's psychiatrist every week or so to help him deal with the horrors he's seen while fighting the Bydo, and has become very quiet and soft-spoken too. As the leader of Whiskey Company, he does at least care for the well-being of his teammates, and sees them as the closest thing to family he's got right now. Although he does have some mental trauma, he's still one of the best pilots the Space Corps have, and gives it his all to defend the Earth.
  • Backstory: Back when the Bydo Sigma first started appearing about 4 years ago, Jonathan was a confident, somewhat cocky young pilot who graduated with high skill rankings from the Space Corps Flight Academy. After he graduated, he was chosen to pilot the newest version of the Leo fighter, "Dragoon", for his high Bydo kill proficiency, and eventually gained the nickname of "Stormer" for his piloting skills and his ancestor, who shared the same name. Assigned to Bravo Company, he fell in love with a fellow pilot named Sakura, who piloted the Lady Love II, and the two got engaged about a year after they met. However, tragedy struck when Sakura vanished without a trace on a mission, leaving Stormer brokenhearted and furious at the Bydo for taking away his love.
  • Stormer rose through the ranks of the Space Corps over the course of 3 years, but in the process, he saw firsthand just how frightening the Bydo Sigma truly were. The gruesome imagery he saw made him become much quieter than he was, and he adopted a more stoic personality to ease the pain from the loss of his fiancé. He began doing weekly visits to the psychiatrist to help his mind cope with the shell-shocking from 4 straight years of Bydo fighting, and to keep himself sane enough to fight. Recently, after achieving the rank of First Lieutenant, he was assigned to be the leader of Whiskey Company, where he hopes to lead his troops to a final victory against the nightmarish invaders.
