Awesome! This show is so good.
Maybe it will make more sense by then.
I like Legion but damn it's trippy.
That is the main reason it is my favorite Marvel show.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureAgreed. A friend of mine was saying that he hopes the other X-Men shows are as good as Legion, and all I could think is that if they're even half as crazy, there's no way I'm going to be able to watch all of them.
Legion is definitely awesome, but it's weird and creepy as shit, so having more than one show like it would not make for an interesting shared universe.

Legion is great because it's so unique and trippy— making a bunch of copycats would diminish the appeal considerably. I don't think many creators could make a series like this work. I'm not sure even one showrunner could pull off doing a similar show without feeling like they were being derivative of themselves.
So yeah, much as I like Legion, I'd be glad to see Gifted be a more down-to-earth, 'traditional' take on the X-Men.
Watching the new Legion really makes me worry a bit about Gifted.
Now Legion is good. It's crazy with its visuals but the narrative makes sense. But what all the recent successful Fox X-Men stuff does is use the characters outside of traditional comic book plots. Deadpool was R rated raunch, Logan a deconstructionist Western, and...whatever art house thing Legion is. But it feels like the good X-Men stuff separates itself from the mold by playing in those different genres, using different tools (not necessarily drowning in dark and angst like D.C. films tend to). It's one of the good things about the X-Men not being in the MCU, the freedom to explore the characters with different tools.

I don't think Gifted will have a problem. Maybe it will be a bit more by the numbers, but that's not always a bad thing. Especially since the biggest issue with the X-Men films has always been Loads And Loads Of Characters that they don't have time for. A tv series will have a lot more room to give different characters the spotlight. Or even just any focus at all. In most of the X-Men films ninety percent of the mutants aren't even named on-screen.
I see Polaris has brown hair like in her comic debut.
Full trailer:
Looks...generic.
I want to see some mutants that unmistakably look like mutants. Blink just has dyed hair here. Legion got a pass because he's specifically a powerful psychic and it makes sense for other psychics to scoop him up, plus the show is so visually stylized that I don't really mind the Devil With Yellow Eyes being the only truly freakish-looking mutant onscreen. Plus Legion takes one of the various demographics mutants stand in for, ie. the neuroatypical, and makes that part overt, which wins it a lot of points in my book. But sooner or later I want to see some makeup effects in my sci-fi in general, and the X-Universe in particular.
Not a great trailer. I'll still probably give it a few episodes.
EDIT: Rewatched the trailer. Liked it better the second time around. Really hope this turns out well.

I wasn't really impressed but I will give it a shot. Fox scheduled it to air after Lucifer on Mondays.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureJesus Christ, this looks like crud. Like, it's better than Cloak and Dagger, but that's just damning it with faint praise.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Lucifer is a good lead in, plus I'll give this a shot just because I like a lot of the actors invovled-Acker is always good, I really liked Natalie Lind in Gotham and The Goldbergs (and that Lolita-esque guest spot she did on iZombie) and Jamie Chung is more or less perfect casting for Blink.
Legion was going to be an incredibly high bar to clear.
This doesn't.
Well, this is network TV as opposed to a premium channel. I was never expecting it to be as good or better than Legion, but it could still look better than this. Could be okay, but the lack of marquee characters combined with how generic it all looks isn't raising my hopes any.

I'm guessing this is a prequel to Days of Future Past.
Seems to confirmed by the actress that played Blink.
MARVEL and Fox's Youtube Channels uploaded the first 6 minutes of The Gifted, premiering next Monday. (By the way, is it possible for this thread to be renamed "The Gifted: Marvel/Fox's X-Men Series"?)
Whatever happens with Gifted, we can be sure it won't be the Mind Screw Legion is.
