Then what are the Praeses? Aliens? If so, why the pseudo-Latin names? From the way they were spoken of they certainly seem to be more than just human authority figures.

They could be humans that have been greatly augmented with nanomachines. Maybe they're the Alice Grove equivalent of tech-priests or something.

In his defense, oatmeal is beyond nasty, unless it's in a raisin cookie.

Watching Gavia made me wonder if she would know what to do with a knife were she given one.

As someone who likes oatmeal, I am offended.

I mean, I almost never have purely plain oatmeal if I can help it, but I do like oatmeal.

Oatmeal is a fine ingredient. Eating it on its own is like eating flour or drinking olive oil.

She would probably blow it up in a fashion that causes the shrapnel to cause as much damage as possible.

Well said...I feel the same way about tomatoes and sour cream.

I hate cooked oat meal by itself, although I like it if something like apples or raisins are thrown in. But I absolutely love it raw with something, preferably milk, to wash it down.

Full marks for bravery. They saw what Gavia can do, and they go at her with a wooden sword, some rope and (I'm assuming) a pipe.

I'dve brought a SAM launcher.

Plus they must know that Alice isn't going to approve of this action.

Amusing that "the demon" is Gavia despite Ardent's appearance. Then again he didn't try to blow up their town.

Between the floating and the extremely short haircut and, yes, the explodings, she's pretty demonic.

Honestly I half expected the rope to be there to yank Ardent "away to safety" from her.

That was my impression, too...Ardent certainly looks monstrous, but Gavia's appearance and powers appear far more supernatural.

Falling from the sky like the wrath of an angry God tends to leave negative impressions.

I think the rope is more to keep him from helping his sister. Don't know if they know he's her brother but they see them hanging out and being friendly.
