Meanwhile, in chapter 144… we discover another of Youko's terrible secrets. It's unusual to see literal background characters be given some prominence in a Jitsu wa chapter. It's kinda refreshing.

Otherwise, it largely recycles chapter… 23 I think? with a little Character Development taken into account. Not totally unnecessary, as the evolution of Youko's character isn't as immediately striking as Nagisa's or Mikan's. A pretty good transition chapter, though I can't help but find it underwhelming after the arc we just got. >.>

Let's be fair here; It's hard to top a sport festival where the world is at bloody stake, a chapel inside a floating castle where one dashing man (with thug-ish and oddly old face) confessed on recently-awakened spinster on top of a freaking pegasus.

Speaking of which, I wondered if we had already seen these girls somewhere, and… yep, we had. 143 chapters ago.

Also, I wondered if there was a trope for this kind of weirdly drawn upper lip, like the black-haired girl has. I've seen that on Naruto's Sai and Bakuman's Miyoshi (among others), but I don't know if there's some kind of "pattern" to it…

A common drawing style for tanned gals (referring to the lip) in manga I suppose. I remember seeing that from my sister's collection.

All things considered, this is a pleasant surprise, even though it shouldn't be. Cute girls doing cute things will always sell pretty well, unless you fuck it up hard.

I wouldn't really describe Jitsu wa's girls as "cute" in the early chapters, though. But well, it's cool than it's doing not too bad. Considering the series improves as it goes on, it might even go up.

I'm totally buying it when it becomes available in SEA. This manga has been a consistent, go to source of giggles to me for a year.

I think it can still apply to Aizawa and Youko. We get a healthy does of "kawaii" close-ups from those two. Mikan might have started as worst grill, but she eventually got her shony anime eyes, and red face.

I wanted to buy it too, but it seems only to be available in a print and not a digital edition, which is a shame.

In the first 7 chaps? Not that much... Nagisa was still firmly in her Iron Lady phase and Youko looked more adult-ish than cute. Then came the sunblock training, and the rest is history...

I can understand that. Personally, the feeling of reading physical copies of books can't be duplicated digitally, but there is that convenience of the digital age.

Anyway, yeah, if I could buy physical copies I definitely would too. It depends on habits I guess.

The succubus chapter might actually be too much for me. It was gut-busting enough when read as a raw, but in glorious snglish it is almost painfully hilarious.

Now I'm just wondering how Youko was conceived if Genjirou is that big and heavy.

He was a lot shorter in high school. Actually, he seems much taller than that in the present.
