Back in 8th grade, I made my middle school English teacher cry with a poetry project we had to do. I decided not to tell her that I had written most of it the night before it was due, despite that we were supposed to have been working on it for two or so weeks.
That was a long time ago though, and I was kind of bewildered even back then. I don't really write poetry because I want to, or because I have a passion for it, I just do it for school when I have to.

this place needs me hereYeah, same, except with essays. I don't mind doing them, I just wouldn't if I wasn't told to, you know?
?!?!?!?!I recently wrote a thing that was meant to be a stylistically experimental short story, but ended up feeling more like a free verse poem. Here's a link if anyone wishes to read it.
This implies, quite correctly, that my mind is dark and damp and full of tiny translucent fish.I like this. It has a very prose-poem feel to it.
?!?!?!?!I poet a little, arguably more than I writer. More often than not these end up being written for or set to music, however, so how well they work in their own right varies.
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.I write poetry occasionally. Mostly freeverse, sometimes haiku.
Yeah, sometimes, for the reading stage I'm part of. But I mostly perform prose pieces.
So, this is a forum for writers, but we all know that prose isn't the only thing out there. That's right. Poetry talk time.
From free-verse to sonnets, haiku to epics, this is a place to discuss the art of writing poetry.
I've been writing poems for a while now, covering a great range of forms. Anyone other poets here?
?!?!?!?!
