Smallville resolved the Doomsday plot by separating it from Davis Bloom. If for no other reason than not aping something from a previous CW Superman show I don't see Reign's plot ending the same way.

I really hope Reign doesn't die.

Samantha doesn't deserve that, she is an innocent victim.

Given Kara's obsession with her alienness over her humanity this season, it wouldn't surprise me if she tries to find out what that cult did to make Reign so powerful and use the same procedure on herself.

So it's a new episode today.

For some reason, Brainiac 5 is blue.

So a good episode overall. Loved the heat-vision scene.

Why exactly did priest-guy randomly go crazy and start worshiping Reign? It seems a bit much for him to turn on Supergirl after one loss, even though it was a big one. Especially since by the time he found the Fortress, Supergirl had risen again and defeated Reign. I hope he's doing some sort of secret Reverse Mole thing, because otherwise there's some Unfortunate Implications about religious people. Especially since the previous episode on the subject was so good about it.

Isn't this the same guy who tried to blow up a crowded stadium. I think that ship has sailed.

I forget. Has Clark's absence actually been explained here, or are they just not mentioning to him that his only blood relative spent the last week in a coma after getting nearly beat to death.

It hasn't been mentioned, but presumably he's just busy. Kara was only out for two days, they quickly found out that she would recover, and there was nothing Clark could do to speed that process up. I figure he's going to show up in the finale to help fight Reign and the rest of the World Killers, but they don't want to use him too early.

Yeah. For a meta standpoint, that works.

In universe, we can just assume that Clark is in space beating something up, in addition to the fact that he trusts Kara to get things done when it matters.

I figure they did not call him because their plan b after Kara lost was "Every known weakness kryptonians have. Like all of them, at once".

That is both a pretty legit plan, and also a plan for which superman would be approximately zero help. Of course, Kara ended up being helpful, but.. well, that is because it is her show, and she was in a headspace where "I am now wielding kryptonite weapons in battle" made sense to her.

You know.

I know people (not here, but around the internet) were really annoyed by the whole Kara > Clark fight.

But its really good for the narrative so they don't just have situations where its like "Oh, if only Superman was here and not offworld we could solve this issue in 5 minutes."

I also really liked this episode.

I really liked Mon El this time around. I think some people might not be too fond of his insistence on not interfering early on in the episode. But the way he kept repeating himself I really got the impression he was trying to talk himself out of it more than Saturn Girl.

Well considering the stakes, his initial reluctance to interfere makes sense.

I do agree that it's clear he wanted to from the get go. Mon has had whole new responsibilities for seven years from his perspective, so he needed a bit of a push (which Irma gave him) to get back on track.

A lot of telegraphing in this last episode.

The thing Mon-El and Imra need to get to the future is stored in their DNA. Which means CW is free to do a dramatic plot where they die, but have a kid, still saving the future.

Also, and much more likely, there are more world killers, so Reign has someone to rebel against once Sam starts taking control again.

I find it harder to get invested in this universe knowing it's going to get fucked in a couple hundred years. That was a bit extreme, writers.

I have to think Psi was like an English teacher or something before her powers developed. She explicitly uses the older, scarier versions of the nursery rhymes she quotes too.

At least someone else pointed out how strangely she speaks.

[up][up] Of course, Garth Rannz always dies, don't you know that?

Seriously, took me until I woke up the following morning to realize that Psi and and Livewire were probably stand ins for the comics versions of Saturn Girl and Lightning Lad with Ms Mon-El herself possibly filling in for Cosmic Boy (A bit of a stretch but her turning the metal handle with her powers was reminiscent of Cos doing the same with magnetism)

So does anyone feel like they seem to be setting up Sam/Alex for endgame? Before, Alex was just being friendly with Ruby and wasn't interacting with Sam much, but now Sam has confessed her problems to Alex first out of anyone. Maybe I'm reading too much into things, but I feel like I've seen this plot before.

Anyway, good that Sam is finally starting to figure things out. I hope that she remembers those brief moments when she was awake on Fort Rozz and everybody is able to put the pieces together next episode, but I figure it's going to take a little longer.

Also, can Reign please kill Morgan Edge? She should have killed him in her debut episode, in fact. I suppose it's possible that he has some awesome role to play, but I doubt it. Right now, he just seems superfluous to the real villains and themes of the season. Adrian Pasdar is doing his best, but he just doesn't really fit in the season. At least Max Lord was moderately sympathetic from time to time.

In which this series continues the trend of having Livewire turn good in every single incarnation except for the one in which she originated.

At this point and with the stinger in mind, I realize that this show has a similar effect on me than Luke Cage and Black Lightning do: where those two have black people as default, Supergirl has women as default.

Oh yeah. I'm just surprised by it because of how uncommon it is in non Sex and the City-like shows. It makes you realize how much "male = normal" is deeply ingrained in media, just like "white = normal".

Gotta hand it to him, as much of a detestable slime ball creep as he is, Morgan Edge is definitely a guy who knows how to not die.

Addendum:

There was a lot I didn’t like about how that ended. Literally forcing Edge to confess at gunpoint. Kara being willing to let the drone shoot up a public place - including kill a couple people onscreen - until Lena gets that confession. I dunno, it just seems way worse than the writers really intended.

The Lexosuit was freaking amazing, though.
