It just felt odd to use a picture from Pokemon and then not pothole to Pokemon. How would you format it?
You don't need to worry about that before it is on the page. When someone puts up, they will take care of it, as is standard. Just go on any trope page with an image, look at the source, and you'll see how it's done.
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.Oh thanks, but what I meant was how would you arrange the potholes?
In place of the URL, type [[PotHole URL]]
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed. No no, I know how to do that. I'm asking, since you took issue with me potholing Pokemon into "You", where you personally would put the potholes instead.
It's a Sinkhole if what you link to doesn't relate to the words you link from. "You" has nothing to do with the game.
Check out my fanfiction!Yeah, it's a stretch, unfortunately since the image would have to link to the image source rather than to pokemon directly as I currently understand, I'd have to throw a link to Pokemon in there somewhere...
No, that's not how it works. The image will be linked to Pokémon since that is the work it refers to. The artist will recieve credit in a line under the caption. Like this:
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.Ah, I could've sworn somebody said otherwise. Right then... Any other thoughts on that quote in general for the caption?
The pokemon picture is still entirely unclear on (1) whether fire is supposed to beat water in this game or the other way around, and (2) which of the two characters is actually winning. You might just as easily claim that the image is an example of "rock beats scissors".
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! Both of the suggested captions fix that, however, and personally I think you might be significantly overestimating the average troper's capacity to completely misunderstand the image. I have definitely seen vaguer images on this site.
Secondly, what do you consider to be a set of two elements that cannot possibly be confused as to which beats which?

"I think you might be significantly overestimating the average troper's capacity to completely misunderstand the image"
IP has a lot of that.
I think water-beats-fire is one of the most common set-ups and they have coloring based on their elements. With the caption I think it works.
It does have room for improvement, but until someone suggests something better I am giving it a yes.
The Pokemon one isn't perfect, but it's the best out of anything we have, and a caption will help. I'm tired of this debate. It has enough support. Let's just get this done already.
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed. We have at least one other picture in this thread that also has a lot of support, so it strikes me we should really crowner this.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Yeah, how about we do that?
I'll agree to that if somebody advocating the very literal one can think of a good caption for it.
The very literal one is not good. Visual Puns are nice only when a picture that actually illustrates the trope can't be found; and here we've got ourselves a nice and illustrative picture that only needs a little aid from a caption.
I give my to the Pokémon pic.

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."For what it's worth, I also support the Pokemon pic.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.I don't like the visual pun one myself, it looks more to me like someone punching between someone else's index and middle fingers.
Jeez, several requests for a crowner and none made... do you realize that anyone can make one? It is polite for someone else to have "made the motion" but it would make more sense for the "second" to be making one, and not a second motion :P Here: [1]
Also, I don't really like the most recent caption suggestion. I strongly prefer the one in #26 (with the artist credit in #59), and think if that image wins the crowner there should be a second one, for the caption.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Alright, I voted. As for the quote for the Squirtle Vs Charizard one, we have two suggested caption options:
Option 1: We're going to need more water to put out this fire.
Option 2: "You squirt as if to douse a candle, but you only stoke the fires of hell!"
Which one does everyone like more? I vote for Option 2
A) no that's not right
B) wait until that crowner is over, can make another for the caption if needed
Crowner's hooked.
Yeah, this is going exactly how I thought it would.
