With 19 days left, they'll hit the next short comfortably.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectWe'll see...at one point the number of donations should start to dwindle. But who knows...it would be pretty funny if they get 10 times as much as the originally expected in the end.
Not so sure about the name of this project, seems like it doesn't quite understand how one word titles work.
More importantly, do we have any idea how long each short is planned to be?
Fine, why they work.
Ah.

....... how one word titles work?? It's one word!
"Hullabaloo" is the name of the protagonist's masked alter ego.
Looking for some stories? At least it's not a Verbed Title. Those annoy the heck out of me.
My tropes launched: https://surenity2.blogspot.com/2021/02/my-tropes-on-tv-tropes.htmlOh boy..looks like we got a new Don Bluth lol
great to see that the project is getting the money. The film doesn't really interest me, but it's nice that people still want to see 2D in theaters
even though it's not a genre, im beginning to think that 2D is now a genre throwback of some sort in movies..

Supports cartoons being cartoony!I wish people wouldn't look at traditional 2D animation as "a throwback" all the time. It can be used for stories taking place in the present and future! .... but then I remember I'm talking about today's audiences, and I consider it asking for too much.
Your "get off my lawn" is showing.
Yeah, that avatar's a 'Shop of my real face.I don't think it's a throwback, but it seem there's a hell of a lot of people who do. Since, you know, 2D movies aren't as big as before.

Supports cartoons being cartoony! You know it's time to go to bed when you get 2 passive-aggressive thread replies from 2 different users in the same minute.
My comment wasn't meant to be aggressive. Was it because I used hell?

I was mainly talking to the other guy.

That was meant in jest and I joke similarly about myself whenever I find myself comparing media today with older franchises. It wasn't meant as a passive-aggressive shot.
Yeah, that avatar's a 'Shop of my real face.Speaking of getting off one's lawn, I do agree that today's audiences are more concerned with "the latest technology" than all the previous generation combined. Our attention span is decreasing rapidly.
My angry rant blog!I think the newest development was always something which demanded attention. But you know, what I like about the Hullabaloo project is not just the fact that it uses traditional animation, but also the story which is proposed. We certainly need more movies with female main characters, and that it is supposed to encourage an interest in engineering is just a plus for me.
And steampunk. Can't forget the steampunk.
Looking for some stories? To my knowledge, steampunk has yet to be covered in any major animated project!
Treasure Planet sort of kind of wanders in that general direction and Atlantis The Lost Empire has a couple nods to it, but that's all I can think of. There is Steamboy, but that's anime so I don't know if you were counting that or not.
Not Three Laws compliant.Eh, those Disney films aren't really 100% steampunk, to me.
And sorry, but i haven't seen Steamboy.

I have. It's pretty good visually, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense at times and is half an hour longer than it needs to be.

Looking for some stories?I would count Treasure Planet in the Steampunk genre, even though it more borrows a little bit of the style than being "true steampunk", but not Atlantis, mostly because on the Treasure Planet DVD is a very detailed explanation how the ship is supposed to work which is really creative. To be honest, I was kind of surprised that none of the animators working on Hullabaloo were involved in either movie (or if they were, they didn't bother to list it as reference).
I too have seen Steamboy. I agree with Mort that it was a gorgeous movie with barely a plot. Steamboy is pretty much "Spectacles: The Movie". The story and characters are barely there to show off set pieces, and the whole film feels more like a set up (especially once you see the infinitely more interesting credit scenes) than a complete fulfilling experience.
Steamboy would have been better off as a series than a feature film.
Bite my shiny metal ass.
Way past $250k now. Now that's impressive!
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!
