Pokken Tournament: A collaboration between Pokemon and the Tekken team

But is Croagunk even a ninja? Then again, is Greninja much of a ninja other than its name? And Water Shuriken.

If being able to learn sneaky attacks and illusion techniques counts, then half the Pokémon in existance are a ninja.

Or all of them, if you count Double Team as a "ninja art"

Not any more whack than the anime and Ash's Pikachu having a fluctating power level.

So the remaining slot is Empoleon's then...

Greninja does ninja poses, learn most of the techniques that could be associated with ninjas (Smokescreen, Substitute, Spikes, Roleplay, Haze, Night Slash, Double Team, Water Shuriken, Mat Block) naturally (Croagunk only learns Double Team by TM) so yes it's probably as much of a ninja Pokémon as it can get in the franchise.

Well, there is also Accelgor.

And Ninjask.

Yeah I know there's also Accelgor and Ninjask but I meant to say that Greninja is the one who plays up the ninja motif the most

He's a bit of a comedy character, isn't he?

Yep. Croagunk managed to get a cult following for his weird face and his adventures of punching Brock whenever he got his creep on.

He's a bit Dan Hibiki going by his weird animations and general attitude.

He's got a bunch of Tekken joke characters' moves, too, like Ganryu the sumo wrestler and Doctor Bosconovitch, the scientist who's gimmick is that he's hurting himself as much as his opponent.

So...it's pretty obvious that being a Support Pokémon will not prevent a Pokémon from becoming playable at this point. Think there's still hope for, say, Dragonite or Sylveon?

Maybe if the Switch port happens.

Otherwise, probably not. That last slot's still probably going to Empoleon. Which gives the game almost as many Gen IV reps as it has Gen 1.

Why all the Gen IV love all of a sudden? Gen V only has one rep!

That's what I was thinking. I would probably be happier about all this if Gen 4 wasn't my least favorite Gen. Not that I outright hate that gen, (I don't hate any of them, really, and Lucario, Garchomp, and Weavile are some of my favorites from Gen 4) I just wish we could have gotten more representation from the other ones. Gens 2 and 5, in particular. Is Gen 4 just really popular in Japan or something?

Oh well. There's always the Switch port if it comes. (And I really hope it does!)

If you count Lucha Mouse as Gen VI and put Shadow Mewtwo in its own category (or just don't count the repeats), then Gev IV will outnumber Gen I if Penguin Time happens.

Still want Zoroark, though I'd be down for Krookodile or Samurott, too, as far as Gen 5 representatives would go.

I'm rooting for Mienshao or Prehistoric Iron Man from Gen V someday. But if we don't get anyone else, at least we got the that gen's crown jewel.

I'd also really like for Zoroark and Mienshao to make an appearance, both because they're solid mons design wise and they'd be incredible in a fighting game. They also don't have a ton of Gen 5 competition, so if they're trying to balance the roster based on generation they both seem likely.
