I know.
By why have an amiibo for that?
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? We've got like 7 Mario amiibos. Pikachu needs to match that number.
it was a joke
I'm guessing the amiibos all unlock either costumes for the anime paper doll or potentially palettes or other customization options for the Pokemon.
The site says "Compatible with all amiibo accessories unlocking in-game items." Doesn't specify Pokemon ones. Tons of cosplay incoming probably. And since Capcom, Nintendo, Namco, and Square Enix have all been playing so nicely together lately, and Namco is developing this so Pacman is already free to cameo, I could see all of Smash 4's guests having some kind of presence in this.

If this results in, say, Sceptile wearing Luigi's outfit or Suicune's fur looking like Ness's trademark outfit, this could be hilarious...
"Lucian, don’t be afraid, we’ll make it through this."I just hope scanning the Sonic amiibo will unlock this.
They'll most probably go the Hyrule Warriors route with amiibo content, though (some unique item with Pokémon amiibo, random free item for others).
amiibo related cosmetics for paper doll trainer portraits?
"Trainer Lucario wants to battle!"
"Trainer Lucario sent out Lucario!"
"Trainer Dark Pit sent out Shadow Mewtwo!"
IT's Edge all the way down.
"Trainer Luigi sent out Gengar!"
"Trainer Luigi fled the battle!"
New CoroCoro scan featuring both Mewtwos
Not a lot of new stuff, but it looks like Mega Mewtwo Y might be appearing after all? Maybe it's just for vanilla Mewtwo's Burst Attack.
No, the Mega Y stuff in the bottom half of the page is for Pokemon Tretta. Only the top half of the page about Shadow Mewtwo is Pokken info.
My bad. I guess the lack of oiliness on Mega Mewtwo Y should have tipped me off.
Here what Serebii has to say about that page.
It is also said that Shadow Mewtwo storms the 1 Player Mode, Ferrum League. It questions what Shadow Mewtwo's objective is and its relation to the mysterious girl. It can also use Thunder Punch, Fire Punch and Ice Punch in quick succession. If all three hit, a huge amount of damage is dealt.
Finally, it lists standard Mewtwo as being able to use moves such as Hyper Beam.

Huh, sounds interesting...
You Can't Give It Up!! [[Phash Slash 1001@gmail.com]] http://corecrush112.tumblr.comOdd... I remember seeing a video of normal Mewtwo Mega Evolving into its X form.
Normal Mewtwo does Mega Evolve into its X form, yes. Mega Mewtwo Y, to the best of our knowledge, doesn't exist in Pokken Tournament, currently.

Helpful Scripts and Stylesheets here.Good, X needs more representation.
You Can't Give It Up!! [[Phash Slash 1001@gmail.com]] http://corecrush112.tumblr.comIf you're going to have 2 Mewtwos you may as well make the most of them, though. It's a waste for both to become Mega Mewtwo X.
While I agree, it looks like it's already set in stone. I find that disappointing. With Shadow Mewtwo's scar, him turning into X works well.
Regular going Y would've been great. Are their movesets generally different that we've seen, btw?
Some new supports and Wii U-exclusive modes revealed
- Cubone + Diglett, Magneton + Quagsire, and Umbreon + Espeon are new supports.
- Ferrum League: Complete tournaments to unlock new stages and supports.
- Practice Mode: Fight freely without time limit. Has a submode that teaches you combos.
- My Town: Spend in-game money to customize your trainer avatar.
Pretty much standard fighting game stuff.
that Quagsire adaptation
Interesting to see how eager this game is with the Eevee supports.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guy- Cubone uses Bonemerang which is a quick long range attack that hits multiple times and brings opponents to you
- Diglett uses Dig which makes it easy to land combos when the opponent has been hit
- Magneton uses Tri Attack which aims upward. It lowers opponents' Speed & Attack and is good against jumping opponents
- Quagsire uses Mud Bomb. It is effective on players on the ground and damages even if guarded against
- Espeon uses Morning Sun which removes status conditions as well as healing Hit Points. The less time on the clock, the more it raises.
- Finally, Umbreon uses Snarl which sucks up the opponent's Resonance Gauge and prevents them being able to land critical hits
it was a thing.◊
