@Fawriel: I just don't think Kangaskhan is some kind of statement about gender roles in media. Kangaskhan is a kangaroo and kangaroos are most famous for carrying their kids in their pouches and so Kangaskhan has a baby in its pouch. Nor do I think anyone is ever gonna go "Man, seeing this kangaroo fight Pikachu has really changed my view on gender in society!"
The Pikachu vs. Gardevoir match was the best one of all the footage I saw.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectSo here's a thing, does anyone have any idea how the blocking works? I mean, there has to be some mechanic in place to ensure that you don't just stand there blocking everything, right?
Looks like there's a guard break somewhere. I imagine there's some kind of indication for it that just hasn't been put in the interface yet.
Fighting games usually allow players to bypass blocking with grabs.
Machamp's grabs looked unblockable, and the shield turns red and breaks as time goes on.
Chip damage seemed to happen from certain projectiles, and while there are no traditional high-low mix ups, it looks like attacking overhead from mid air, or possibly striking from behind (I'm pretty sure Pikachu's Quick Attack can be used to maneuver around the opponent) will also bypass their guard.
So apparently the control scheme for this game is much simpler than I expected considering it's Tekken. It's basically A: Pokemon Technique (ie. your special moves) ; B: Jump; X: Weak; Y: Strong; R: Guard; L: Support.
That's good to know because I really can't handle fighting games with six button layouts.
By the way do you guys think that if this game comes out on Wii U and is amiibo compatible, they will work like in Smash as a fighter for you to spar with? It feels very likely to me.
I also wonder if a Pokkén amiibo line would happen if it turned out that way.
They'd be daft not to. Pokemon amiibos would sell. It'd also give a dual use to Lucario and Pikachu... and maybe the others as well. Fingers crossed for Mewtwo. As an amiibo and as playable in this game.
Not quite here but maybe there, but Tekken only has four to five buttons, depending on if it's a tag game or not. In which case the 5th button is just the tag button.
Man I hope this game has some kind of tag team mode.
It could even be explained away as Double/Multi Battles.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyRotation Battles sound like they make more sense in this setting. Either that or old-fashioned switching.
This game isn't all that Tekkenish TBH.
I'm still hoping for Pinsir, though given the distance combat that looks pretty important, I'm sadly having very low hopes for an actual playable appearance.
Then what does Machamp do at a distance?
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.At best that might mean he couldn't hold up well against many.
What I'm hoping for at most is to try and have close to equal amount of characters from each Generation, Pikachu aside since he's the mascot.
I'm liking the roster pretty well so far. I also like the idea of Assist Pokemon. It means that we could see a ton in there as is.
I couldn't help but notice in all the recent matches, that Suicune was... kind of powerful. The distance on his attacks are insane.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectGood point.
Machamp seemed to just roll around at a distance. They'll probably have non-projectile users focus on ways to close in. I could see a ground type using a move that stuns at a distance, or something. Pinsir can fly, too, so it'd work as a speedy rush-down character.
Only mega-pinsir can fly.
I'd rather have Heracross though.

It would be neat if they could somehow make Megacross actually look cool.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyMegacross' design is a mess. I don't get what is supposed to be going on with its arms.
Megacross's arms kinda remind me of Mega Man. Fitting, considering its ability.
Two new support pokémon:
@Faw: Aw thanks.
On control scheme: Someone posted the control scheme earlier in the thread, and as the others had mentioned, it seems similar to Smash, having simplistic inputs. If the game is borrowing more from Ninja Storm, then some special attacks made be activate through button combos rather than the traditional method.
After all, the game would preferably need a control scheme that's still accessible to a wide audience.
