So, it'd be Meta-Ridley, except actually being a cyborg and not... "Super Ridley".

The implication was meant more as "Ridley, with his Prime proportions, but organic like in Super/Zero Mission/etc."

The things that people "leaked" are so pointlessly vague that you could say it's pretty much any first-party newcomer.

Prime proportioned Ridley is actually quite viable as a character design-wise.◊

The only problem is that Prime Ridley tends to have forelimbs the same lenght as the hindlimbs, and thus the spine is quite horizontal in a standing posture, and thus the position ends up quite unconventional. Long arms and an apelike stance, like in the 2-D games, makes the character easier to fit in.

I'm going to hazard a guess that the character reveal will be either Dixie or Rool. DK hasn't gotten much attention lately.

But if it's not from the Ballot that definitely means that it won't be K. Rool

It could be Captain Rainbow or even someone very obscure like Hikari from Shin Ogashima.

How does that work? Just because K. Rool was a huge force in the ballot doesn't inherently mean that they couldn't have started work on him before that due to fan demand.

Like Lucas and Roy, for instance.

Seriously, it's kinda weird- Even in Japan, where the DKC games are more of a Cult Classic than a nigh-universally beloved series, K. Rool leads the pools. Nearly everyone seems tolike the obese crocodile with the eye infection and the identity crises.

I think it's just because he hasn't appeared in years, and people want some form of him in something because they miss him.

I heard that Donkey Kong was popular in both Japan and NA. I heard that DKC 3 sold better in Japan than it did in the West.

I think Retro should take the hint and make some ape on croc action for their next DKC game.

Kiddy/Chunky and Lanky would also fit better than freaking Cranky Kong as playable characters, as well.

(And a Metroid game from them wouldn't hurt; we may go back to good gameplay and Ridley designs too).

I'd favor using Tiny's classic design from 64 in the newer DKC games over making Cranky playable.

Japan didn't get the memo that Tiny is supposed to be Dixie's little sister, for some reason.

I never got why they couldn't just use Dixie in 64. I mean, Chunky is understandable, as Kiddy was pretty much Donkey Kong with some edits, but, come on, we didn't need a second Dixie who is the little sister of the original. Divergent Character Evolution is generally positive...

Anyway, I wish we were getting more trophies and alternate skins as DLC (trophies as bonus with characters and stages, but trophy packs, not single trophies unlocked as soon as the game is booted)...

"Not from the ballot" would only mean that the character was made without input from the ballot. Probably started before it finished.

Which, again, means actually anyone, except possibly Shovel Knight.

These are some wide nets, is what I'm saying.

I don't think K. Rool will be the character that takes Social Media by storm, if only because he doesn't have recognition among the general public. I remember when I was showing my friends his costume, one of them was like "Is he a Ninja Turtle?"

I think Inkling is the most appropriate. Not only is Splatoon super popular right now, but pretty easily recognizable by the general public due to marketing and commercials.

Plus reasons already mentioned.

Just as Octolings are confirmed playable in Splatoon, Inklings will be confirmed for Smash, complete with an Octoling alt.

The problem being, would that marketing actually carry over to them getting in Smash?

Honestly, I don't see the wider Spaltoon fanbase caring all that much about such a thing outside of the people who already own both.
